My name is Braggs1,I have been overweight since I was a teen. I have always enjoyed cooking, and eating. I am female, in my mid forties, and I have several health concerns. I am taking a leap of faith that this procedure will prolong my life, and get me back on the right track. My status is Pre-Surgery for Lap Band. Currently, I have completed several qualifying procedures, and I am waiting for approval from my insurance. I am comfortable with my decision to go forward with this procedure, and I am aware of some of the cons/danger involved. The cons scare me, but I know my HTN is out of control. My blood pressure is generally, 190/120, including multiple medications, and side effects. The scary part is, I feel fine, and I should not. I have concluded, I must do something to try, and help myself. I am trying to become informed, and learn new habits. It is interesting not eating and drinking at the same time. I have talked to two people who have had the procedure. They voiced complaints, but their health has improved since their surgery. So far, I heard one story resulting in death from this surgery. The doctor told me, it is likely, I will continue to require medication for HTN. I pray my doses will be reduced. My current medications make me sleepy most of the day. I hate that! I was told, it would best for me to attend support groups, become involved in chat rooms, and learn as much as possible about this life changing procedure. To a degree, I feel anxious, which is a new feeling for me. I welcome any advice or information that is provided.
