Ok I am hoping I am not totally dense to ask this but how many of you if you pick up your bottom stomach roll have a line that looks like it is a tummy tuck scar already? Does that go away with the weight loss or always there

Hi everyone, my question is... For those of you who have been very successful and really lost alot of weight especially reasonable fast, what did you do or not do that made you as successful as you have been. On the flip side people who have not done that good, are there things you would recommend doing differently? Thanks

I was more swollen around the port site than the other incisions. I did put a cold pack on the site in the evening for a few days. Basically the soreness went away by day 10 or so.

Hi I felt exactly how you did and contacted my clinic and was told not to beat myself up over it. They told me to go back to liquids and just try my best. Honestly I am almost 3 weeks out and around day 7-10 was the hardest for me because I felt great but I was very hungry for the first time and wanted to eat (also a feeling weak). Try not to call it cheating. Just pick yourself back up and go on. We are all here for the same thing, information and support. So don't get discouraged with the negative comments. Good luck

Banded July 19? Two-Weeks Out Today!
jdulac replied to 2beskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was banded on July 15. Can I ask if you have a monthly cycle? I had my first period since the surgery and I went back and forth with 1 pound for about 5 days. Now I am done with my period and in the past 3 days I have lost 3 pounds. I think we as women really have that as a disadvantage that we just sometimes can't put our thumb on it as the root of the problem. I noticed you said 1000-1200 calories. My dr told me I could have 1000 b/c of my height but all the lit that the office gave me told me to stay b/w 600-800 so ever three or 4 days I try to eat as close to 800 as I can that day. then the others right at 1000. Maybe try "shocking" the system so it isn't getting to use to the same caloric intake. Good luck -
July banders-work together
jdulac replied to Nicole74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I was banded on July 15th so a little earlier than the most of you but just wanted to say it gets so much better. At about day 7 I felt like "me" again. I wanted to eat and was allowed foods as long as I could pour them. My recommendation is to make sure that you avoid all dairy.. That is any cream soups and shakes that have milk in them. That made my gas very very bad even at day 5 and 6. Check your protein drinks also alot of them have dairy products in them. Good luck, I have my post op visit on Thursday at 3 weeks out and my first fill on August 25th unless I can talk them into doing it earlier. -
What does your dr recommend for eatting at day 5 mine said that shakes were fine, I could have mushy foods. Give your dr a call

Not getting enough fluids & protein day 4 post up!!
jdulac replied to Nicole74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is your protein shake milk based? If it is I would say that is a big part of your problem with the gas. I was told by my dr not to concentrate on protein at this point. Get you some sugar free jello or some soup if you want hot. I drank the broth from Roman noodles for a day or two. I didn't eat much the first 4 days or should I say drink much either. But avoid milk products until gas is totally gone if you aren't already Good luck -
Down 51 lbs., took new photo...disappointed!
jdulac replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You look great. I bet people are not commenting out of ignorance. They may not be sure if you want the attention or not. I have found that either that is all people talk about or they tip toe around it. -
I have had mine for two years and love it.I got it at Kohls when it was on sale. The only thing is that the cups are not the same size as your normal blender. Which is good and bad just remember that when you are filling it up to blend it is basically a one serving size. I make my shakes in it then walk out the door with my cup, no pouring and storing the extra that was in the blender.

Ooooh baby it hurts so good!
jdulac replied to lovinlife4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that is awesome. Hey at least you know that it is working and that you are now about to relearn how to eat. I say high-five. -
Questioin-3 month mark on August 4th-38 lbs down?!?!?
jdulac replied to thin in 2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awesome that is like 3 lbs a week or almost 1/2lb a day. Totally awesome. You have to consider also that a good 3-6 weeks you were recovering from the surgery. How far out did you have your first fill? Keep up the good work. I think you are doing fantastic. -
Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?
jdulac replied to Jennie1976's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think when I get to goal I will have to try some on for sure and maybe get one to wear in the confinds of my home. But I say if you got it rock it. Remember most of us are over critical about our own bodies and we have the fat girl mentality still, even though you are not. Get a girl friend or a teenager they will tell you the truth. -
I never thought I could lose over 100lbs
jdulac replied to Astrasmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ya that is awesome. I am thinking the same thing. Can I ask about your daily food intake? Do you count calories or just eat what you want basically but just less of it? I am just getting started so I am asking everyone what works best for them? Thanks -
How much is too much wgt loss?
jdulac replied to losingwgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry that people are not just being the supportive people you need them to be. I have found that many people get so use to seeing you "fat". And since you probley gained over the years the new very fast "skinny" you is scarey to them. You think it takes your eyes a while to adjust to the new you just imagine what they are seeing. I see it as inspiration, empowerment and strength when I see people who have lost alot of weight. Other people also see that but they are affraid of change and affraid that you will change and not be the person that they love. I told my mom (who is very skinny) that I would prefer to to take about my weight or the process with her. (it felt to fake) and she agreed that she would only mention it if I brought it up. Maybe that would be a good deal to make with all your people. As far as your doctor goes if you really want him to unfill you tell him that he works for you and that it is your body and you want it now. Good luck -
Question for the banded ladies....
jdulac replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They told me I could wear them as long as they were cotton no synthetic stuff. -
Hi everyone. I was just wondering. Most of the posts I read make reference to their weightloss in relation to their surgery date. However most people say they didn't really lose much until they got to the "sweet spot" with their fills. So for example if someone loses 100lbs in 1 year (which is awesome) is it really like 10 months since most drs don't fill until 6 weeks then it takes a few to get restriction? Just a thought. Not sure. I am just thinking it is awesome all the great results you all that are ahead of me have had. Jessica

3rd Year Band-Annivesary Today 7/17
jdulac replied to IndioGirl55's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am very happy for you. I was banded on July 15th (10days ago). I am struggling already. I went camping without my blender and had to eat and chew food so now I am having a hard time with what to eat to be satisfied knowing in the back of my head I could physically eat something instead of having to blend up my lunch. Can I ask did you ever go to a counselor or dietician? What do you think has helped you the most? I am writing everything down, and drinking my water. Any insight I would truly love. I personally only know one person with a band and she is not local and not all that willing to talk. Thanks Jessica -
Hi everyone. I had surgery 10 days ago and I feel really good now. My questions are. We went camping this weekend at day 7 and I am suppose to be on anything I can pour consistency. I forgot part of my blender and did my best to smash and/or eat like I am suppose to. However, there were several times that I ate basically like I would have preop. What is wrong with me. I am hungry like before, I am wanting to snack like before, if I didn't have the scars I would swear I had nothing in me. I just got home and got out the blender part I forgot and made myself some canned hamsalad. I am at a loss. Also in the first 5 days I lost 14 lbs but I am sure they are all back now. Please tell me that this is normal.

Dr. Rex Luttrell - Any experience with Luttrell?
jdulac replied to Bob Barnett's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I went to his information session but chose another dr. No one in his office has the band and the person in charge of nutrition just started so I got scared.
