    Calories HELP

My Dr. says to eat 800 calories. I got a fill last week and I am VERY tight in the morning and I can't eat all that much at a time. I was thinking yes finally here I go. I have not lost any weight.... What is going on. I am 5'7" and I am trying to workout 3-6 days a week. Do I need to up my calories to make it come off or what? Any thoughts would be great Jessica

  3. I am 6 months post op and the first 3 months I did good and lost weight then ate off program and didn't journal. Last week my husband and I started doing the 17 day diet. I have lost about 1 lb a day this week, I am journaling and counting calories. I have lost 47 lbs. I am wondering what to expect over the next 6 months. If I continue to count and journal should I expect to get another 50 off in 6 months or no. I was so hoping to get 100lbs off by my anniversary. Or is going to slow down, did I miss my window for fast weight loss. thanks
  4. I asked about the taking all the fluid out bc my dr doesn't do that and they said that you can have restriction one time then all the fluid is taken out and the way it inflates the next time might not be the same or the stomach changes position a little. Maybe that is what is happened

    The 17 Day Diet

Dh and I started today I was banded 7/15 and have lost 40 lbs. I am struggling so thought that this may be a good idea to revamp things. For the general public I would say it is to low calorie but for a band patient it is basically right on,. He had two eggs and a piece of turkey sausage for breakfast (I have morning band so nothing til noon) then I made chicken fajitas and we ate them without the tortilla and fixings. Then again for dinner. Also he drank the green tea, I think it tastes like a@# and refuse to drink it. But basically lean chicken and turkey and veggies and two fruits at first. We will see. Good luck if you do it also
  6. I will be 5 months post op on the 15th. I had my 6th fill last week. I am feeling more restriction and I am eatting way less than even last week before the fill. However, I am not losing weight and I am wondering how to get the protein in. I need some ideas for good protein shakes etc. I can eat maybe half of McDonalds cheeseburger, but then end out sliming a little and spitting out the last bit or so. I also can not eat until around noon or later. Sometimes in the morning I can't even drink water. Which is fine, but I am having a hard time with the not eatting until afternoon and then still not being able to get much down. Any input is great Thanks Jessica
  7. I am sorry to hear that. My port is like half flipped and they dig and dig to get mine and I am considering having them do a revision so I don't have to go through them doing that every time. Good luck
  8. Happy Anniversary, sounds like a happy birthday is also instore. I say that b/c it sounds like you are a new you. Congrats
  9. Could the steriod shot I had to have b/c of poision ivy be making me hold fluid or gain weight? I have been eatting a little more that normal but I gained 6 lbs in the last 2 day. Any experience with them. I had the shot last tuesday it is now Sunday

    July Bandsters

Hey polly and lovin, I was wondering, around what calorie level are you eatting? I struggle between 1000-1300. The dr want me to eat around 800-1000. Any advice. I was wondering if you would share a day of what you eat. Like I said I have had three fills. I am not sure how much I got on the third. They had alot of trouble getting the needle in (flipping port). I lost 3-5 lbs last week then got a steriod shot and gained like 6 I am so mad. Think I should go to protein shakes? Jdulac
  11. Hi everyone. I had my band done July 15th. I am in central Arkansas and was wondering if there were any others hanging out on here in my area. Is anyone going to the Walk from Obesity walk this weekend? Just wondering if there were any local people to be in contact with, thanks Jessica
  12. When you get some or all the weight off? I am looking most forward to: 1. not "sizing" up everything to make sure I will fit or not break it due to my weight. Already feel better in a theater seat (nice NSV) 2. shopping in a regular stop department not the plus size section. 3. riding the rides at the amusement parks with my girls and husband. 4-100 oh ya I got a list but these are my favs, anyone else.

    July Bandsters

Hi I was banded on July 15th. So I am almost three months out also. I have had three fills and I am hoovering around 32 lbs lost. Your 40+ is awesome. Congrats. keep up the good work
  14. Hey I know the struggle and I am sure everyone here does. I lost 14 lbs the week of and after surgery combined. Then gained back 7 as soon as that 10 day post surgery hump was over and I felt like my old self, hence ready to eat and drink again. After surgery you must think that you didn't feel good I assume like when sick so you didn't have much to eat or drink (or just drink) the anesthesia and pain meds are messing with you and basically you are just there for the ride. Once you are actually good and hydrated again sure you will gain some weight back and then for a while your body will go into a "freak out" mode wondering why no cheeseburgers, where is my coke etc, are you trying to starve me, so it is just natures way of making sure you are not going to die. Don't worry about the first few months. Even though I understand you just paid who knows how much to have a surgery that is suppose to help you lose weight. It will happen. It's kinda like having a baby and the baby blues that goes with it, every day is a learning curve, every day will have a new challenge and when you look back at the first year post op you will be like OMG look how much I have changed. Take pics and journal. If you don't have someone that you trust to take the pics get in front of a mirror at first. Journal what you eat, what you maybe wanted to eat and didn't, how that made you feel (think empowered not deprived). Write down one praise for yourself every day. Even if you did poloish off a bag of cookies or a crackers. Good luck, this is a life experience you will never forget
  15. Have you ever been to a chiropractor? It could be an impengment also. When I am "out" I have headaches and other shooting pains. 20 mins and $20 later I feel like a new woman. It couldn't hurt anything that is for sure.

    Exercise and Hunger

Ok. On days that I work out I usually do 40-50 mins of cardio. If the machines are right I am burning about 300-400 calories. Well the issue is both times this week I have been starved, like to the point that I came home and binged. On crap may I add. Like today I had 3 cookies with frosting at the tune of 455 calories. Don't know why just did. And that was after I had two steak tacos. Just need to figure out how to work around this. HELP any ideas of what you do or don't do that works. Do you eat first or right after or what. Do you eat the extra calories that you burned off or still try to eat whatever you usually do. Thanks

    Hair loss - Anyone?

My hair coming out also. Like after I had my girls. I am not sure if it is protein or other vitamins and minerals. I never at 65 grams of protein before the surgery so I am not sure. If anyone has a supplement they recommend or hair treatment let me know. Jessica
  18. my nurse said mine si flipping but, she is still able to get the needle in at just the right place. they said it may be due to fast weight loss and the muscle shrinking they aren't sure, but they most certainly do flip.
  19. Ok everyone just read a new release from John Hopkins basically saying no meat. I am not a huge red meat fan but since I was banded do tend to eat more meat and less Fruits and veggies. I need ideas I am sure there are vegetarians out there. I don't like eggs, fish or sea food. I know a fatty with limitations. I am more of a carbatarian. Anyway I need ideas. I have been eatting a 20g protein bar but it is too much of a slider for me. It doesn't satisfy Thanks Jessica
  20. Yes I gain a little, feel bloated and fat, I crave and binge sometimes. The bad thing is that since I am losing estrigen is being released and although I am on BC I have had a mini period for about three weeks and then yesterday right on cue it came on full strength. I guess it will level out when the weight stablizes. I am stuck right now at 260 and can't get over that hump. I hope when Flo leaves it will take a few pounds with it. Good luck

    100 pounds down

Hey I have been going to the Goodwill, you would be surprised at some of the really nice items that are there. I actually have a Salvation army and a huge flea market also in my town. Also check to see if you have an adult consignment shop in your area. I found I could make money selling my old clothes to help pay for the next size down. Are you where you are done losing? If you are then maybe try Old Navy and Kohls. They tend to have good sales and nice stuff that isn't break the bank. Can I ask exactly what did you do over the past 6 months? What calorie level did you eat at? How much did you exercise? How many fills did it take to get restriction?

    100 pounds down

I am so proud of you and the others that have lost 100 lbs. I still have over 100 to go and I am impressed with how you have done. I am two months out and would love to hear what all you did or didn't do. Can you tell me at what calorie level you are eatting and how much exercise you are doing. The mirror will eventually help you out. I find that taking a picture and comparing them is when I really notice changes. Try that. YAHHHHH
  23. I am just wondering what exactly is the point of clear liquids, then liquids after a fill. I am starving and I have just had my second fill. I am on day two and they told me full liquids today then when I feel hungery go to mushies. Well hello I was hungry 30 mins after I walked out of the drs office. Is this normal. This is only my second fill I am at 4.0 cc in a 10 band. Any input would be great. Thanks
  24. I have been on vacation since last wednesday in an RV with two kids and in-laws. I have gained 2-3 lbs. I am so disquested with myself. But I am away from my routine and home and everyone is eatting out and picking all day so I find myself doing it. I am 5 weeks out and have nothing in my band so of course it feels like it isn't there. I can eat anything I want. I am just wanting to get home and get my fill next wednesday.
  25. I am into the eatting food stage before my first fill. But this will be a relavent question for the rest of my life. How do you count one or two bites of food calorie wise? Like I had like 3 bites of chicken breast. I mean how many calories is that? I am not sure if I am over estimating or under estimating.
