Hello everyone, My name is Bryce and I am a 23 year-old student in Texas. I applied for Lap-Band surgery about a year and half ago but my insurance policy denied it, so after a recent scare (Near Syncope due to Vagal Response) I decided to just pay for it with CareCredit. I am having surgery in about 12 hours (Thursday, August 12), Dr. Job Buschman will be performing the surgery. I had to do a two week liquid diet but decided to do it for three week instead. I started my liquid diet on July 23 and weighed 474 pounds (BMI=57-58) and as of August 11 I am proud to say that I weigh 440 (BMI=53-54). I hope to lose about another 200 pounds and am pretty excited for this adventure that I am about to embark upon. As of right now I am not nervous. That's about it, it's late so I am kind of brain dead.

Well, I wish I could say that I had the Lap-Band surgery but unfortunately it has been postponed. I can't really describe how disappointed I am, about all the hurdles and obstacles that have been put in my way to get to this point. I went in today and they ran the EKG and apparently at sometime in the past few months I had a heart attack...that's news to me because I sure didn't know it... So now I have to see a cardiologist on August 23rd...I was really hoping to get all this stuff done before school started but I guess we don't always get what we want. All of those who have wished me luck I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and I know some day I will be able to have this surgery.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
-------- replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is my first post on here but thought I would share. About a year and half ago I was going to have surgery, I did the two week diet and didn't cheat at all but the insurance company denied me so I decided I couldn't afford to pay for it. Now I have decided to go through with the surgery with self-pay and I have been on the pre-op diet since July 23 and my surgery is August 12 (the nutritionist said that a 3 week liquid diet would be fine). I went out of town this past weekend and kind of cheated but made sure it was only with healthy foods. After reading some of the comments on here I really do not want to cheat now. I received a call today from my family doctor and he was concerned about my liver enzyme levels being high so now I have to see a specialist. Hopefully if I just stick with the pre-op diet I should be fine. I plan to call my surgeon tomorrow and consult with him about my blood work.
