I think my turning point was last year when we took our small children to an amusement park and I couldn't fit in any of the rides. I never really saw myself as being 'that big' but the seats don't lie. It broke my heart to see the disappointment on my childrens face when I couldn't enjoy the fun with them. I was humiliated and that is when I started looking into lap band. Of course, in the long run I have done this for myself...but all in all I did this for them. I didn't want to be so big that someday when they are old enough to understand what 'fat' meant, they would be embarrassed to have friends over because of what their mom looked like. Sure, I want to lessen the pain in my back, knees and feet. Sure, I want to put clothes on and actually have them fit, and sure, it will be great to not be out of breath climbing the stairs with a basket of laundry. But when it's all said and done, I just want to be around to watch them grow up into fine young men. My husband has been amazing. He always saw me as beautiful, even when I really wasn't anymore. No matter what size I was he has loved me for me and that I can't thank him enough for.
