I went to my first LapBand seminar this week and have decided to attend at least two more seminars with different doctors before making a decision on who will do my surgery. Note that I did not say "if" I would have the procedure done, but rather who I would chose to perform it. I am going to do this! I am a 48 year old female who is morbidly obese with a BMI of at least 50 at 5 ft 2 inches in height. I am tired of always being tired and out of breath. Shopping for clothes has become a nightmare (size 22 or 24W pants and 3XL tops). I have tried non-surgical weight loss methods numerous times in the past to only lose weight, keep it off for about 6 months to a year only to regain it all back plus a few extra pounds. I am at my heaviest weight ever right now and it's time for a permanent change! I no longer want to be embarrassed by my size or an embarrassment to my family. The real wake up call really hit earlier this summer when my husband and I boarded an aircraft to fly to our vacation destination and I went to fasten the seatbelt and had a panic stricken moment when I had to struggle to get the seatbelt to fasten around me! I wanted to crawl in to the cargo hold and just die! It did fasten, but was it was simply too embarrassing when I had to look at my husband of 31 years and proclaim, "I don't think this seatbelt is going to buckle!" It's definitley time for that permanent change........
