    Thinking of backing out

Hi, I think everyone has second and third thoughts as surgery gets closer. I'd be worried if you didn't this is a big decision and no one but you can make it. Keep researching and asking questions and remember you do not have to make the final decision until 12-7.

    Loss of friends

I haven't lost any but there is a distance now with my obese friends. I think it is equally as much my fault as theirs there just isn't any guide book one in particular will drag me into plus size stores where we both use to shop which now has nothing in my size and when we go to a regular store I feel self conscious looks at the smaller sizes. She makes "comments" all the time framed as a joke calling me a twig and other things.
  10. I don't have nearly as many as I did and when I do they are more like regular headaches.

    Breast Loss

Boy do I feel boob challenged the largest I got was 40D now 38 very small b they are pretty sad looking and will probably need something done because the skin is so stretched out.
  12. I was having lunch with one of my oldest friends. She is the one who talked me into the sleeve only to back out once I was convinced. I try hard not to say anything about clothes size or weight loss I'll tell her if she asks but that's it. She was mentioning to me about seeing another friend who "...asked if I was still a twig...told her you were......oh by the way you our not allowed to wear that dress you had on when we went to dinner in my presence" said jokingly but still made me feel guilty. So I rolled my eyes and told her I am not a twig( I am not a twig no where near and in my twenties when I was at my thinnest I weighed 20lbs less then I do now and I wasn't a twig then and for some odd reason I kind of resent it when she saids things like that). And then I firmly inserted my foot in my mouth by saying "For God's sake I weigh 140 lbs I am not skinny." It wasn't until I got home that it hit me that she weighs 240 100 lbs more then I and if I roles were reversed I'd call her a twig too.
  13. I think everyone goes through this just know that it will better. I think usually after the first week those feelings start to decrease and you start to feel stronger and more normal with each passing day.
  14. Thanks. Her health is worse then mine was but her bottom line is that food is more important. I am 5'2 and a half 140 is at the upper end of healthy weight and am happy where I am would I like to lose a little more sure but twig I am not but she is forever making mean spirited comments like "We should hold her down and stuff chocolate cake down her throat" and then like Coops everyone laughs. I keep hoping it will pass now that I am at maintenance but it seems to have gotten worse. It doesn't help that all she has been doing is gaining and the looks I get when I insist on keeping on my exercise schedule.

Poll: Do you eat your exercise calories?

No I don't. I was just writing somewhere else how frustrated and confused I am. I am at maintenance and will eat between 1500-1000 cals a day the 1500 on my exercise days I walk 2 hours with hills 5 days a week and walk 45 minutes every night. I got one of those bodybugg things they wear on the biggest loser. According to it after wearing it a little over a week is that I average 2300 calories a day and the difference between the 5 days I walk two hours and the two I don't is 100 calories a day! It makes no sense.

Should I sleeve or Not to Sleeve

I think no matter which WLS you chose stalls will happen. No matter which you can sabotage. For me what decided it was the fact that with the sleeve issues with mal-absorption and dumping are not a problem. There are a certain class of cardiac drugs that you will not be able to take after the DS and if one day you need one of them you'll have to settle for a less successful drug. I liked the idea that with the sleeve you are left with a normal GI tract functionally it works like everyone else. Lastly with the sleeve if it doesn't work or you regain you can go on and get the DS. Originally the sleeve was developed as the first step in getting bypass for those whose weight made it too dangerous to just get the bypass.

    Question??

I am terribly confused and frustrated with the whole calorie thing. I bounce between 1500-1000(1500 on exercise days)calories a day on maintenance . I got myself one of those body buggs like Biggest Loser. It measures how many steps and how many calories I burn a day and it factors in age height and weight. According to it after wearing it a week I burn on the average 2300 calories a day! I know that if I were to eat 2300 a day I'd gain! The numbers don't make sense. Oddly enough last year before my sleeve exercising just a bit less then I am now it calculated my daily expenditure was 2400.
  18. I felt the same way before my surgery. I even wondered if one of my cats getting sick a week before my surgery was a sign. I did not have a pre op diet beyond liquids for 72 hours before. I think it is normal this is a big deal. What helped for me was to keep thinking about the what ifs, if I did not go through with it. My weight was literally killing and I knew that if I did not get the wls surgery I'd end up on an operating table for some emergency weight related disaster.

I need an excuse but not a lie

Hi, I am a walker too I was walking about 5 miles a day 5 day a week and have been for years. I was not up to walking my regular walk for about four weeks post op. A week out as you will be I could only manage a short five minute stroll. I understand not wanting to say anything but you may have to miss more then one walk and you definitely don't want to overdue it.
  20. One year and 70 pounds man what a difference a year makes!
  21. It could be from the protein drinks they can leave a coating.

    protein pills??

I looked at them but they seemed too costly and you need to take too many to get enough protein from them.
