Trying to I think I drank about 85% of the bottle yesterday trying to finish a bottle today I am also planning on trying some chicken soup tonight. Also I am having a small bit of diarrhea is that normal? Nancy -

Hi All, I thought I'd share some of what I thought were the odder moments of surgery. First off was I had been in my room several hours before I noticed the gown I was wearing when I was willed in was a different one. Now I know during surgery we are all laid out like Sunday chicken but it still felt odd to think of someone undressing and redressing me! I also had something called an On Q pump an odd little gizmo that pumps in a novacaine type drug into your stomach area. The last was a bit of a NSV well not really but felt like it they came to take me to x-ray for the upper gi they brought this wheelchair big enough to almost fit two of me in it. The barium stuff was nasty as could be but with someone like me with bad reflux I was able to do it. Oh and a last bit of advice for anyone waiting on surgery, when they bring you your first liquid tray do not go crazy mixing in the unflavored Protein into every thing (G) Nancy

LOL I like my surgeon but I think he tends to be one of those chronically late types(G) Journalling sounds like a wonderful idea.

Hi, That was really odd I seriously doubt we have any kind of look, maybe after bypass if there are mal absorption problems but beyond that I really can't see it. I agree with Tiff about what proceedure that guy could use. Nancy

Hi, I was reading about you getting PLICATION and was wondering about something what about the hunger hormone thing? Just curious I have already been sleeved but have a friend who is considering it.

Sleeved with lots of Complications

I am so sorry to hear you had complications but like someone else posted they caught it early and that really makes a difference. I was just sleeved on the 24th but I imagine even a week out because of the complications you are probably a bit swollen. Go easy on yourself you just had two major surgies! -
Hopefully your surgeon won't be stuck in traffic and make you wait an extra 30 minutes. Boy oh boy the last thing I remember is scooting over to the operating table and an oxygen mask on my face and the next thing I knew I was in recovery I could not believe it as over I went in around 3 and was out awake at 5. I just found out I have to keep the drain in until next week but other then being awkward its no big deal and I can still shower with it. I think the fact that you are young and not super obese should really serve you well.

Hi All, Just got home from being sleeved. I have to say the worse part has been the waiting. Last night was rough but I think that that was in part because who can sleep in hospital!?! I still have a drain I am told my stomach muscles will probably hurt more tomorrow but today 24 hours after surgery I am moving well. Nancy

I had some the first night but that was it today I am sore sitting is a bit uncomfortable but I haven't taken any pain meds since last night. I am not too sure how much I should be taking in I keep sipping have had a bit of nausea probably telling me to stop. I am now going to have to figure out how to post a tracker.

Body Pillow question

I can finally answer this one I sleep on my side with a body pillow too. The first night at the hospital I didn't even try and because I had two things hanging off my stomach one a drain one a pain pump it won't have worked. I did not expect to be able to sleep with one last night but I did just fine. -
Thanks guys it is good to be on this side. I haven't had too much gas trouble when does that start? I even had a small BM this am I know TMI(G) I am a little more sore but not too bad. Thanks you all for the support I don't think I could do this without it. Nancy

Thanks. Still doing well this heat is making things a bit difficult once I get the drain out and can shower I know I will feel better. What time are you going in tomorrow? Just think tomorrow it will be over and you will be on the loser bench with me.! Your pictures are very pretty. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Thanks for the good thoughts. I am sleeved and home and you are day after tomorrow! It wasn't too bad I think the fear was worst then the reality. Last night was a bit rough I have problems with nausea, vomiting and reflux to begin with so that just added on to what might not have been much at all. Had a bit of pain mostly gas and have a drain hanging from my side I see the surgeon in the morning to have it removed. I would have to say the worst parts were the waiting, the barium and the dry mouth while npo until the ugi.

Lol! I love it after all the hoops who won't be mad?(G) If they have really changed the BMI requirements I will be pretty ticked off with them. I can not imagine that they did not know this was in the works. Nancy -
Oh boy I start drinking my laxative in 30 min! Have my bag packed I am sure I will have forgotten something. Bought the special shampoo and conditioner they recommended to help with the hair loss, got a fridge full of isopure, jello, popcicles, yogurt, cottage cheese. I'm all set....i think(G)

Seriously 35BMI !?! Well that kind of stinks since my BMI is 36 and they turned me down in April and I am all set for self pay on Tuesday. I am really happy for you my friend who did do the options class really loved them. She opted out of surgery for now out of fear but she had nothing but good things to say about them. Nancy
