Hi, I can not remember how many times during the first 5 days post op I asked the same question. I think it is normal. It will get better but if it doesn't talk to your surgeon. Are you getting enough fluids in protein in? Nancy

lunarose replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you had to deal with such nonsense when ever I talk about the surgery even though I did it here in the US I always say that there are four doctors in Mexico that are highly regarded and respected and probably have more experience then most of the US doctors. Nancy -
Liquid Torture, I mean diet...
lunarose replied to Papillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you allowed sugar free puddings? Those really help with the head hunger. Also the Dryers sugar free popsicles help. The headache for me lasted about 4-5 days. Nancy -
Hi All, My nut suggested that I taste test some Protein shakes before my surgery next week so I had some Isopure chocolate can't taste the chocolate but it wasn't bad. The thing I did not ask is if I should stick with straight Water or skin milk. What do you all think? Nancy

Please Help!!!! 5 days out....
lunarose replied to Val_Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am right a head of you I was sleeved last Tuesdays. I get that pain when I drink too much or too fast but passes quickly. I think part of it is head hunger, part of it is that we still have the hunger hormones still in our bodies and part of it is that we are starting to feel good which means rather then thinking of how yucky we are feeling we are thinking what sounds good. You have to be sipping all day long just to get enough in because we are taking spoonfull swallows. Nancy -
Tomorrow is SLEEVE DAY!

Yippee! Dorothy is right there is no place like home! Now you need to move on to the "post op" section with the rest of us on the losers bench. Nancy -
Well its day 3 I won't say its been easy but it hasn't been all that bad either. But all this down time has had me thinking. The first thing that has struck me on this journey is how many of us say things like "we have done this to us" or use the word "elective" I don't know about that to me there was nothing elective about this. High B/P, high cholesterol and a borderline ekg are all warning signs that my weight is killing me. If a doctor told me oh you have this tumor it could kill you in 10-20 years and will cause you health issues What do you want to do about it?" What do I need the roof to fall on my head? I have tried and I exercise but it isn't working so now it is time to do something before it is too late. I may be a bit miserable today but tomorrow I will feel a little better and the next day even better. And in a few weeks I will feel normal. Someone commented on my blog that we are brave for doing this , Katy is right we are!

Yay! So glad to "see" you. Sorry to hear you are having problems. Remember the mantra everyday gets better. I don't know how anyone goes out the first 5 day I am only feeling up to it on day 6. Nancy -

I am not big on protein either but so far I can tolerate the isopure grape, the vanilla or chocolate mixed into the skin milk I use to make my sugar free pudding and the unjury chicken soup flour mixed into a bowl of strained chicken noodle soup, Hope these help. Nancy

Skin problems?
lunarose replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yoiu probably should ask your doctor just in case. Are you taking in any dairy? Maybe a strange reaction to milk intolerance? Skin changes are not that uncommon and they talk about hair lose and the two are the same in their make up. Are you doing your B Vitamins? Nancy -
Reassurance Needed
lunarose replied to Classiladi13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am six days post op and those hoops are oh so fresh in my head I especially liked the pregnancy test (I am two years post) and the slight concern that the test was 5 days before surgery and could I have gotten pregnant in the last five days....hello I am about to turn 54! (Hope that at least got you to crack a grin). I was self pay too and yeah those loans are crazy. Don't let them get you down you are doing the right thing you are doing a necessary thing. And you will do just fine. I think as the fear goes we naturally try to relieve it anyway we can and the quick fix is to change your mind but I promise you if you diud that you more then likely will feel even worse. You can do this! Nancy -
Dr Lyass is the greatest! So was Northridge! I am at day 5 and feel pretty darn good I can actually take almost normal swallows today I was able to drink 1 liter of crystal light with diluted light juice one 20 fl oz isopure and a bowl of chicken broth with protein powder. Gas was only an issue the first night. Best of all I can sleep on my side with a body pillow. I am beyond happy.

Poll: To tell or not to tell co-workers
lunarose replied to Texanatheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I think a lot depends on how you feel about your coworkers as individuals. What you did was not lazy nor drastic it was necessary would having a tumor removed that may or may not kill you years down the line and would cause you health issues be either? Its not like anyone of us gain a little weigh and woke up and said rather then try the conventional routes we will just go for a quick fix. Surgery is not our first attempt or choice. Hold your head up and if anyone tries to feed you any negativity kick them to the curb. Nancy -
Epigastric discomfort when walking?
lunarose replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another thing you may want them to look at on Monday is your gallbladder stones are a common thing after this surgery. I am glad you are feeling better and that it wasn't a leak. Nancy -
questions 3 days post op
lunarose replied to lunarose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys. The support here is so great. Headaches are better today so maybe it is a withdrawel thing I was a major diet coke drinker before surgery. My lower back kind of hurts but I think it may be because I haven't been exactly moving normally(G) Nancy -
Hi All, So I am 3 days post op probably doing better then I think. Anyway between the Isopure Water and maybe one Jello and one popsicle I am getting maybe 200 calories and am getting maybe 1 liter a day. I am dragging and headachy which I imagine is normal? Am I on course? Should I be worried? Thanks Nancy

Hi All, Let's see I am in my fifties married 20 years to a wonderful support man am 5'2" and weight 200lbs. I have always been overweight I can remember at an early age not understanding why I was overweight or what it was just that I was overweight and the only one in my immediate family that was. I don't think there has ever been a time when I wasn't dieting or at the very least conscious of the things I ate that should not have not that that had ever stopped me. My biggest issue is that when I eat I just plain eat too much I only feel satisfied when I feel full and it takes a lot to get me there. To make matters worse somewhere along the line I developed the habit of eating once a day. In my twenties the only time in my life when I was actually thin. I discovered walking and love it to this day, yes I have been walking for the last 30 years not as much as I did when I was younger but I still walk 5 miles a day 5 days a week with hills. And yet over the years the pounds crept up. I think the walking has kept the weight gain in check to some extent. Anyway the walking has given me a false sense of security calling my self "fat but fit" thinking I was keeping any potential weight health issues far away. Then a couple of years ago my blood pressure started climbing along with my cholesterol and I really could not fool myself any longer. I know that if I do not do something my health will start failing no matter how much I exercise. I know I have trouble getting to my feet not just when I am on the floor but also rising from a chair. I also know that a life time of dieting has not worked and that I could not convince myself that somehow history would not repeat itself. That all my efforts keep me running in place I never go anywhere. So I have decided on the sleeve not for vanity sake though I know there is some vanity involved but mostly because I realize that I can either have my stomach under the knife or in a few years my heart. I had a bit of a wake up call with my pre op ekg it was considered borderline with the possible beginnings of major issues. I have to do something and this is my choice. Tomorrow 8/24 I go in for surgery. I am scared out of my mind about now. Scared about surgery, scared about recovery, scared about complications and most scared of it not work. Nancy

Thanks. I am still on clears now and just getting in enough liquids and protein is a trail. Nancy

lunarose replied to Beccatatqueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about hunger? Aren't the hunger producing hormones still producing? How much do you think you have lost since surgery?
