Still craving carbonation
lunarose replied to AMLP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am nine months out and have drunk some but after a 40 year habit I just don't seem to care for it anymore. When I do drink it it makes me burp a lot which I find uncomfortable. -
Most common complications?
lunarose replied to Golden's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

For those of you 3 months or more out...
lunarose replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am nine months out. Lots has changed. I sleep better and I didn't even have sleep apnea. I can feel my bones who knew I had hip bones. Heat doesn't bother me like it use to. Work outs are easier. My blood pressure is great no more pills for that or cholesterol. Size 6 instead of 3X. I can tuck in shirts. People noticing me and getting more attention. The list goes on and on. The negatives well the loose skin and sad looking boobs. -
NO COFFEEE POST OP
lunarose replied to jennifer6791's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I don't drink coffee but was a major diet soda drinker which is full of caffeine. I stopped cold turkey the night before surgery the withdrawals from caffeine are pretty miserable I had a pounding headache for almost a week. They have coffee that has 1/2 the caffeine which might help you wean off of it. -
Hi, I had my sleeve at Northridge too. I haven't had surgery for my arms but have looked into it. It does leave you with some obvious looking scars. I have heard that working on those muscles so the fill up the space helps a lot.

Hi, I was allowed full liquids after 3 days and started drinking skim milk shakes with no problems.

AWww, this is sad-Goes from overweight to anorexic
lunarose replied to Griselda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had read about her a few weeks ago. Its very sad because it sounds like no one ever bothered to look at her as anything beyond being obese and not the issues beyond it and she obviously wasn't aware at what changes the surgery would bring even if she was told it didn't sink in. She went in thinking it would be a quick fix. -
I hate it too. It makes buying clothing online impossible and by online I am talking about places like Penney's or walmart! And I swear they have done the opposite with shoes. I have shoes that I bought over 20 years ago size 7 1/2 - 8 that I can still fit into but when shopping these days nothing below a 9 ever fits even with the weight I lost.
-
Same here I put on a bra and the girls just sort of puddle at the bottom of the cups! So sad. I have been wearing sports bras they even have them with under wire and Maidenform has these bras that fit two sizes the ones I have will fit 36B to 38C.

No butt at all but big belly and sliding pants!
lunarose replied to beckyboop74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Same thing here! I didn't even expect to lose much in my butt and thighs because I had been exercising before surgery and had built up those muscles so it was a shock when I developed droopy drawers. The good news is nine months out it all has evened out. I bought and had put in other pants drawstrings like you have with sweats so I could tighten them up without being uncomfortable. -
vitamin deficiency 7months post op! Someone please help!!
lunarose replied to Strwberriekissesrbetter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Have you tried one of the chewables? Or you can take you centrum and cut it in half so it is smaller. I was taking their chewables which are kind of chalky tasting so I would chew a couple of papaya emyzme chewable which taste better and cut down the nastiness. Part of the problem is that when you are dehydrated and deficient you need to eat and drink more but the condition itself makes you feel nauseous so you end up in a catch 22 situation. Get your labs done to see where you are at. What helped me early down was to drink diluted fruit juices and chicken broth. -
Congrats on you surgery date! You should be just fine by Aug 2.

When you first left the hospital
lunarose replied to ASBgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, My husband was around but I think I would have done just fine on my own I believe he was gone part of my first day home. You of course will need someone to drive you anywhere you may need to go or to get anything you might need. My kitties were not too pleased with the fact that I could not hold them the first 6 weeks(G) -
BAD surprise the day before surgery!!!
lunarose replied to Tamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awful I hope it doesn't totally muck up your surgery plans. -
Hi, I wasn't crazy about GNC's protein it was the only one that made me nauseous it helped to mix in Nesquik sugar free chocolate or some sugar free pudding I also used it to make sugar free pudding.

How supportive is/was your spouse
lunarose replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi,I don't think you are wrong or being a brat. My husband has been very supportive he even will drink a protein shake for breakfast with me. -
I also forgot to mention another trick I do with the shakes. I make sugar free pudding using half non fat milk and half Greek yogurt and add a scoop of protein powder I use chocolate or vanilla and then use 1/3 cup of pudding into my shakes. Very yummy very sweet. Oh I friended you on Facebook Nancy Stern.

Smart and Final doesn't have samples but their prices on Torani SF syrups are the best I have seen the fruit flavors are the best. You can also use a small amount of crystal light to sweeten it a bit.

Hair Loss
lunarose replied to notsochubbybritneyspears's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, This was one of my biggest fears. I have very thin and very fine hair to begin with so I had visions of myself as a skin head(G) I was diligent with my protein took biotin, B complex and used Nioxin shampoo and conditioner stage 4 "for visibly thinning colored hair". If I lost any it wasn't noticeable and I am 9 months out now. -
The sweet taste triggers your body to release insulin which when the "sugar" never comes it triggers a need to eat to regulate your levels. You can try diluting it or add fresh squeeze lemons to their lemonade or grapefruit to their grapefruit flavor or orange juice in orange.

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
lunarose replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi, My surgeon was Doctor Lyass and I had surgery at Northridge Hospital. Both excellent. I stayed one night but could have stayed a second. I was self paid and the package price included a year of post op labs and doctor visits. -
When did Old Navy get so generous with their sizes?
lunarose replied to myrori's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a new found love for their generous sizing too. -
How much do u stick to ur program
lunarose replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was pretty strict with following the program until about month 6 out and at a weight I would have been happy to stay at (I've lost another 12 lbs since). I still start my day with a protein shake. I eat what I want but I do try to make the right choices and if I am going to eat something bad I eat protein first. I exercise five days a week and am strict about that. -
checked in at 5 this morning, officially sleeved
lunarose replied to heylinda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi and welcome to the losers bench. I am sorry you are in so much pain but walking is the best you can do that and ask for pain meds if you need it. And keep telling yourself that with each passing day you will feel better.
