TMI Mirilax is.....
beergut replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it's been about 2.5 days since my last BM. Was banded on Tuesday @ 3PM, last BM was Tuesday morning. I've been drinking nothing but protein shakes, and have started to feel better, but haven't had a BM. I've taken Colace yesterday and this morning. I definitely feel some gurgling, but nothing much else. At what point should I be concerned? I don't think I'm dehydrated at all, either... -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
beergut replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah, im not even hungry at all, i have to force myself to drink my Protein shakes... forget about any regular food, just coughing hurts like hell. I had the hiccups and I thought I was gonna keel over, lol. Just woke up in the middle of the night w/ back spasms that caused all my incisions to feel like they were spasming as well, that wasn't very fun at all... I'm over this phase already, ready for the easy part to come... -
I actually just crush up a Men's One a Day in a mortar & pestle and add it to my protein shake in the morning. Seems to taste okay

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Caramel Toffee This is the best protein I've ever had. I've gone through 3 2lb tubs already (had to restart 2 week pre op diet 12 days in). Get it on Amazon at GNC if you need it immediately. All of their stuff tastes pretty good.

December 15th is Banding day!!!
beergut replied to new@52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kinda sounds like my hospital stay. They wanted me to stay overnight, but my Dr said I could get discharged, but nobody seemed to have any idea what was going on, so every so often they'd do something that made me think they'd release me, but never follow through. Nurse said I was free to go, but I had no papers and an IV still stuck in me! My wife and I were pretty upset, we just wanted to leave and I jsut wanted to rest in my own bed. Finally, in a stern voice I made my displeasure very well known. They went and found my things and got me moving along the way... As far as gas-x goes, I don't know if it works or not. Most of the gas is outside of the GI tract meaning GAS-X won't really help in that way. Maybe it's a placebo effect ? -
They gave me a prescription for nausea, I'm guessing they didn't give you one? Or they might have, look for it in the packet of papers they gave you. It helped me cope.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
beergut replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night I think I got most of the gas out, but my incisions are still hurting me quite a bit. Surgeon wrote me a new prescription for some percocets, but won't be able to grab those til tomorrow. Slept better last night than the night before, and I'm working up the energy to take a shower in a few. Don't have any problems getting my protein shakes down... -
Cool, I was thinking of trying to slither out somehow, lol, definitely not very graceful. i'm just worried a bout the incisions opening up by straining too hard.

Got banded yesterday. A little discomfort right now, but nothing too terrible. I just need to walk a bit more. Good luck to you all... -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
beergut replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I managed to find a 24 hour pharmacy close by and filled my prescription for pain meds and nausea meds. All is right with the world, had a Protein Shake this morning and I'm feeling somewhat good. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
beergut replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got banded yesterday @ 3pm and I didn't sleep much last night. Hospital gave me a prescription dilaudid (sp) pills, but didn't fill it, and I'm without a vehicle today so my wife will have to grab it after work. Is Tylenol okay for pain relief? I had a Protein shake before I went to bed last night, that went down fine, but I had to try to sleep in my recliner.. -
Overnight in Hospital?
beergut replied to Pamalamadingdong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hospital has me listed as staying overnight for my 2pm surgery time. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'd like to believe I'll bounce right back after surgery, being somewhat young and all, I'd rather go home. I guess we'll see in a few hours... -

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
beergut replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is the day for me. Surgery is slated for 2:15 PM. They originally have me schedule to stay the night, but said I could leave if I felt up to it and the dr/nurses agreed. We'll have to see, I'd rather go home. I'm a bit nervous as I've never gone under the knife before, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. But reading these threads definitely help to ease my mind a bit. Can't wait to actually start eating something other than a protein shake, though, that's for sure. 6 weeks can't come fast enough so I can start working out again... See ya'll on the otherside -

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
beergut replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those looking for good tasting protein, try Gold Standard Whey Isolate from GNC or Amazon. They've got some really good flavors. 120 calories per scoop and 25g of protein. Good stuff, though I find myself wanting some savory items instead of sweet all the time. I get banded on the 13th at 7:45 AM. Can't wait to return to mush in a few weeks... -

beergut replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks like 3 of us will be banded on the 13th. Should be a good time. -
No use counting down the days until pre-op liquid diet, cuz once you're banded its another 4 weeks of Protein shakes. So exciting, right ?

I'm using Gold Standard Pure 100% whey I got from Amazon. It's cheap and the flavors are really good. 130 calories w/ 24 g of Protein. With skim miilk they taste great. -
Gettin banded on the 13th, started my 2 week liquid diet yesterday. A little rough, but manageable. Looking forward to getting cut open

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)

Supposed to be banded tomorrow (Nov. 2) but got postponed due to tonisilitis. Hopefully, I'll be banded mid-December -
So I had my surgery set up for the 2nd of November. Last week felt a scratchiness in my throat. So I went to my PCP. He gave me some antibiotics. Didn't help. Yesterday I went to an ENT and they told me I was sub-acute chronic tonsilitis. Ughh. Called the surgeon's office, he doesn't want to operate on me for 4-5 weeks. So bummed, was definitely looking forward to getting banded before Thanksgiving. Sorry, just needed to vent
-
Asked the ENT Doc if they still removed tonsils, she said only in extreme cases. Seems as though they're moving away from that practice. It's a lot more serious in adults than children, and I'd rather have them kept intact if at all possible. The biggest disappointment is going to have the start the liquid diet all over again, but I've lost a couple pounds on it already, so it isn't that big of a deal. See you guys in the December forum
-
Thanks, that's about the only silver lining I've got, since my surgery prob. won't be until mid December. I guess it's best to be safe. Their concern was the antibiotics reacting with the anaesthesia. Wouldn't want anything to go wrong.

How did your surgery get scheduled if you weren't really approved ? My approval was about 36 hours, and my surgery is scheduled for Nov. 2nd.
