The day after sugery was still paifull:think My freinds mother is a RN and gave me the best advice. She told me to take my liquid tynol and motrin gel caps at the same time. So the pain has been much better.

So it is September 2009 and I have been banded for some time. I lost all the weight I wanted for my wedding and weighed 140 on my wedding day! I got pregnate and gave birth and am now back at 183. I recieved a fill yesterday and had forgotten how miserable it is.

You know your a bandster when you keep empty water bottels handy just in case something comes back up. You know your a bandster when your partner asks "not going down"?

I can understand your frustration. During my lap band journey there were many people, professional and personal who were very, very discouraging. I think some Dr. let their personal opinion interfere with their profession. A lot of people don’t like the idea of weight loss surgery or they simply don’t understand it. Ultimately, I knew it was my decision. Go with your gut feeling, you know in your heart of hearts if it is right for you. Besides who knows you best? I would research the statistical information to verify if what your Dr. said is true. We have to remember that with any surgery there is the risk of complications so of course there is the chance of problems, but I know for me my high blood pressure at 28, lack of energy, and overall fight with weight was worth the possible complications. Now I don’t have high blood pressure, my energy level has gone up, and yes I can still have chocolate. I love chocolate covered almond clusters, but now I eat two of them and am full and satisfied instead of half the jar. Best of luck, and remember it you already know if this is for you. Just ask yourself. Bandina

Okay so it is six days and six pounds later. I feel 98% better the only thing that is bothering me is the port. I had my port placed below my bikni line so that it would be unnoticable. Not like it would have been noticable on the side. Well, that hurts like a bitch, but other than that I am back to normal. I am glad I did this even thought there are times I would kill for solid food.

I awoke this morning starving. My stomach was making so much noise. I was dreaming of sauages and pancakes mmmm eggs. I started to cry. I am so hungry. Why do I have to be a fat kid? I went and jumped on the scale and saw that I lost 6 lbs. I thought okay I will make some oatmeal and blend it with extra milk. I will be fine. Its worth it. Date Banded 11/27 221 pounds Todays Date 12/3 215 pounds

Why can't my husband understand????
bandina replied to waitingtiljan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alright It sounds like you hubby might be on board with you! Is he over weight? Would this be something you could do together? I am so glad you two talked. I wanted to tell you a " my friend" story. My friends family is all over weight and against GB/LB, but my friends mother secretly did it (she is a nurse at Kaiser) She told her family after the fact. All her daughters have since then fallowed her and ether were banded or had gastirc. They are all so happy and according to them thier only regret is that they did not do it sooner. Ask as many questions as you can think of at your seminar especialy the ones you think your husband would want to know the answer to. Good luck girl. Bandina -
It has been four days since my surgery. I was banded 11/28, and I went to work today. I feel fine, just tierd:notagree . I would do anything for food:hungry: food, food, just a little morsil. I thought I would have trouble not drinking wine on the weekends, but I can give a F#*& less about drinking. I am hungery. I know this too will pass, but damn it sucks.

Why can't my husband understand????

WOW! Ya know I think that would be a great gift, but if I was offered this I would not think of where I was going.....I would think what was I going to wear-nothing fits, airplains suck if you are over 200lbs, Bathingsuit???? Yea right. A vacation would be more of a hassle. It sounds like your parents are right if they could detour you with a vacation you are not ready for surgery. I know parents play such a vital role in our lifes, but remember you are 38 and need to make this decision for you. Don't go through life with regrets. Bombard your folks with information about the LB. The decision is yours and though it may be hard if you feel in your heart of hearts this is for you-- Then Just do it. Your parents will see how happy you are after and it will be just fine. Think of going on vacation a year or so from now, 100 lbs thiner? Good Luck in All you do. Bandina -
Honestly I wouldn't worry about the insurance thing. I had PPO and started going through the process then stoped. Then I changed jobs where we had Kaiser. I started there, then went back to my old job and started it up again. I was just banded on tuesday. It is alot of pain girl, but just the first two days. Make sure you have all your meds on hand especaily liquid tylonal and advil gel caps. Take both at the same time and every 5-6 hours. I swear it is money. Well, good luck! Bandina

Why can't my husband understand????
bandina replied to waitingtiljan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh hunny it is so not the "easy way out". Let me tell you. I was banded 11/28 last tuesday and I would kill for food. There is nothing easy about it. I think your husband, and most Americans for that matter who have never been overweight or struggled with thier weight don't understand. THEY DON'T GET IT. Also, we are all creatures of habbit your hubby probibly likes you the way you are and dosen't want you to change. Not everyone deals with change the same way. It might bring up inscurites in him. It does sound like you are doing it for the right reasons and I think you should go through with it. I also believe your spirit will come alive after you shed the lbs. But remember to love youself and if you don't, learn how to (self help books, theripy, or life coach). Also, take some time out for yourself! You sound like a great mother, but need to have some "me" time. Good luck and keep your spirits up. We are all here for you.:nervous Bandina -
My first day home was the most painfull. I awoke after surgery in the recoverey room in so much pain. I never thought that I was a sucker for pain. I mean I have had (in another life) my nipple pierced, lip, navil, tattoos. I am not a weenee, but I guess I am. All I can think about is that eventualy I will have to go thought this all over again wether it be haveing it removed, rebanded, or if it slips or erodes.:faint:

MPJ How did it go in TJ? How are you feeling? I feel horrible :phanvan ! I don't think I was expecting this much pain. I know everyone is different, but I guess I thought that I would tolerate the pain. All I can think about is that I will have to go through this again when they take it out, replace it, or if something goes wrong. I hope you had a pleasant experience and can send some good news regarding your surgery. Bandina Hi Bandina I will be banded in TJ on Tuesday. Good Luck Michael
