Despite being skinny in high school and college, I always thought of myself as fat. Emotional and boredom eating, combined with excess weight put on after 3 pregnancies, took my weight up to an alarming and depressing level. I've tried to lose on my own in the past, but never had more than 40 pounds or so of success before I backslid ever further past my starting point.I had never really considered bariatric surgery until I started a new job last October, and noticed that my health insurance actually covered it 100%! I had to go through a 4 month process with the Bariatric Center, which I began in March, and had my surgery June 25. Surgery went as smoothly as I could have hoped - the staff at the hospital was fantastic, my doctor was able to do a single incision through my bellybutton, and I went home, feeling fine, if a little groggy and sore, the same day. Recovery was quick and easy, though the two weeks of clear and then full liquids did get a little monotanous. Today I am 4 weeks post surgery. 15 pounds down, despite having no restriction in my band yet. I got my first fill yesterday, and I think it was fairly aggressing, so hopefully things will pick up from here!
