    I'm so hungry

UGH...how I remember those horrible days. The liquid diet was the worst. I questioned whether or not I did the right thing and I cried all the time. I was hungry the moment I woke up until the moment I went to sleep. The surgery which I was so scared of was actually the easy party. The aftermath of the surgery (liquid diet) was so tough. Just hang in there...once you get to the mushies it will get so much better. I had my surgery on July 7th 2010 and I feel great and am so glad I had the surgery.

    Carbonation!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on a cruise a couple of weeks ago and I got sea sick. I ended up filling a cup with ice and ginger ale. I let the ice melt and water down the soda. It really helped settle my stomach and I didn't have any bad reactions. I called my doctor's office when I got home and they said what I did was fine.
  4. I was banded on July 7th and I was fine to go on a cruise August 26th. Yeah I couldn't eat nor did I want to eat like everyone else, but I had no issues at all. You just have to make smart choices. Trick or treating might be pushing it a little bit. You will probably feel okay by then, but you will get tired really easily. I would still go ahead with the surgery because you will find out that it brightens your life in so many ways. You might have to miss out on one Halloween, but then you get so many other great days becuase of the surgery.
  5. I would keep calling back until you reach them. I would want answers right away.

    July banders-work together

I was banded July 7th, so a little bit earlier than the rest of you. Today is 4 weeks out for me and I am getting a little better emotionally. It was really tough at first and I did cry...sometimes alot!!! I was and still am mourning the loss of food. It was what I turned to when I was sad or happy and it made me feel so good!! The bad thing is during this hard time I can't turn to food. I am completely addicted to it and until I can overcome that it will continue to be something that I struggle with. Other than all that I feel really good. I still get hungry and I can't wait for my first fill on September 8th. I am getting it later than normal, because I go on a 2 week cruise this month and they didn't want to fill me before I left because they weren't sure how I would tolerate it. Otehr than that I am so glad I found this site and I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's journey!!!
  9. Aww Veleda I am so sorry you are going through this. I have had my band for almost a month and I can say that what you are going through is not normal. I feel really good and I have had none of those side effects. I haven't had my first fill yet, so I am hoping after that happens I will still continue to feel as good as I do today. I'm wondering if your body is rejecting the band. I am not a doctor and I really don't know any of the symptoms of that, but it seems like you are dealing with way to much way to early. You are not being a wuss at all and I am very proud that you have made it this far. I don't think I could handle what you are going through. Keep your head up and we are all here for you!!!

    24 hours post surgery ...

It gets SOOOO much better. I am almost a month out and I feel great. I have so much energy and I am really glad I made this decision. Just try not to get discouraged and you will make it through. The next few weeks will be hard and just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Once you get through the discomfort stage and the liquid stage you will feel so much better. I hope this helps!!!!

    Woke up with Rash

I took tylenol and I was fine. I didn't have to crush mine, but I think it is your preference. Good luck and I would continue to try to get ahold of your doctor. I hope this helps!!!
  12. I was banded on July 7th and I still have issues with bloating. Walking does help ALOT and just staying active. I notice alot of gas when I am sitting at work all day, but other than that it has gone away alot. Just try to get up and move around a good bit and it should start to get better. I hope this helps!!!

  15. I had to take off my panties during surgery, so if I were you I would just talk to your doctor and see if you can come up with a plan. I hope everything works out for you!!!

    Before & After

    Congratulations!!!! You look wonderful!!!!
  17. I had my surgery on July 7th and I go through spells where I am depressed. The other night I was at my in-law's house and they were all eating BAD food and I just lost it. I couldn't stop crying. I felt like such an idiot and it was all because I couldn't eat what they were eating. Some days I feel great and have no problems at all, but then other days I just feel emotionally drained. I am feeling a little better now that I am on soft foods instead of liquids, but the sadness is still there some days. Does the missing food part get easier as time goes on???

    I had my surgery July 22, 2010

I was banded on July 7th and I had alot of discomfort between my shoulder blades as well. It does get better and I still am a littel tender around the incision spots, but other than that I feel good physically. I am having a little bit of issues emotionally, but that just goes hand in hand with my obsession with food.
  19. I had my surgery on July 7th and I just started eating soft foods today and I have no pain at all. I'm not sure if it will be different when I go to a "normal"diet, but as of right now I have no pain.
  20. I had my surgery on on July 7th and I am feeling really good. I did take 2 weeks off of work which I would recommend. I was not ready to go back in 5 days. The only discomfort I had was from the gas they put inside you, but that was it. The first day was the worst and I would rate the pain around a 7, because the pain was in my back and I couldn't get comfortable (plus im a little bit of a wimp). I walked ALOT and the gas pain started to go away. I was just really tired and drained, but that was it The hardest part for me is that fact that you are on a liquid diet for awhile. I started to get really hungry and that was for hard for me emotionally. I think you will do just fine!!! Stay strong and focused!!!
  21. I was banded on July 7, 2010 and my 1st week I lost 12lbs, well I weighed myself today which is over a week later and the scaled said I gained 1 lb. HOW CAN THIS BE?? I have stuck to the doctors instructions by only eating full liquids. Today was my first day on soft foods and I had 1 scrambled egg. Has this happened to anyone else?? This is very discouraging!!!
  22. The biggest complaint I had after surgery was the pain from the gas. It was between my shoulder blades and it was very uncomfortable. I couldn't get comfortable sitting up or laying down and it was very discouraging. Finally, the pain started to go away. I have a little over 2 weeks out from surgery and I am feeling really good. I still have some discomfort, but nothing that can't be tolerated. Good Luck and Congratulations!!!
