  1. Friday I will meet with the nurse clinician, have blood drawn, EKG MMPI etc. I am excited and apprehensive at the same time. Bariatrics at the clinic/hospital I go to have started doing lapband in 1 day surgery (you go home same day). Has anyone out there had this experience and would you recommend it? Also, I am a RN in a very busy unit. Can you give me guidelines on when I could anticipate returning to work. It can be a physically and mentally demanding job. Thanks:unsure:
  2. Now that I am moving full speed ahead with banding, I am eating constantly. It' not like I didn't, before its just increased. Anyone else do this prior to surgery?
  3. You will be "pumped" after the seminar and will want to make it happen asap. I am 3 weeks out from seminar and have 3 appointments tomorrow! Best wishes!
  4. Thank's Katie for your response. I work at least 2/12 hour shifts and an 8 hour each week and have some concerns about returning full speed. It's so busy and we are cut little to no slack. I will have to talk with my surgeon. I am not sharing any of this with my co-workers or supervisor (it's not of their business), however they will expect me to function at top speed. How will I manage this?
  5. I realize it takes hard work to achieve your goal of weight loss and a healthier life. Here's what I don't understand. If you are banded, how can you gain and or not lose weight when your new sized stomach (I hate the word pouch) can only hold so much? Eating one cup of food 3 X daily is a 1/3 of what I eat now. Thanks much
  6. I'm the queen of gas and bloating. I do have IBS with constipation (especially when I'm stressed). Can any of you who were or are cursed with the mentioned symptoms comment on how you are doing after banding? Thanks so much to all of you for your kindness and sensible advice. Katie T
  7. I have very heavy legs and upper arms that are full of cellulite and jiggley. Does the cellulite disappear with weight loss? It's not minor cellulite, it's terrible.
  8. Weight Watchers leader preached 10lb = 1 size. Sounds about right.
  9. How do those of you who are emotional eaters manage this post surgery? I eat when I'm tired, happy, sad, stressed, bored and as a reward etc. I am determined to beat this and am looking for help big time. Thanks in advance:unsure:

    Help me understand??

So true. I fall into the emotional eater category hands down. I am hoping once I get started and cut the crap out of my diet, the desire for sugar and fat will decrease also. Thanks for the reply. Exactly what I needed to hear.
  11. I am booked for a much anticipated cruise with my sister in Jan (she has lost 80 pounds as a result of surgery in 2007) I am just beginning the process and will probably be banded some time in late September. The food used to be one of the cruise highlights and recognize this will no longer be the case in terms of eating frequent large amts. Can anyone tell me if I will be able to enjoy any of the food in solid form 3 months out. Am I fooling myself and wait until after the vacation. Any advice would be much appreciated.:blushing:
  12. Just today, I scheduled my first appt. with a a nurse specialist to begin my journey to a healthier life! With a BMI of 40 and probably another 2 months of meeting with PT, Psych, dieticians etc, I'm inclined to begin an exercise routine and try to reduce some extra weight prior to the actual surgery. My worry is my BMI will decrease and knock me out of my chance for lapbanding. I know I have gone over the "deep end" when I stress over decreasing my BMI. How nuts is that?:blushing:
