  1. I understand. The pre-op I was on for 10 days consisted of Carnation Instant Breakfast with milk. I was totally bound up and had to get some relief with Fleets enemas the night b/4 10/2 surgery. I suspect things will be very sluggish during the clear liquid phase and will start Mirilax today. The narcs will also slow down the digestive center and anesthesia is still clearing. Lots of passive stuff going on in the gut right now. Wishing you well!
  2. Hi Jillian,

Thanks so much for the prayers. I am doing well. I was in the OR at 8am and up to my room by 11am. It was so wonderful to wake up in PA and realize I was being cared for by a nurse who has always inspired me and taught me so much in ACLS the last 25 years. What a blessing!

I am a bit sore today and was surprised the port site incision is at least 2". 5 incisions total put together with Dermabond. No stitches no dreaded steri-strips. I was doing ice chips and h20 throughout the day and last night had broth, jello and juice. Same today and tolerating well. I gained 8lbs overnight from fluid retention and am bloated, however, bowels are audible ha!

I will be praying for you as well. What time is your surgery? I will be there for you in prayer.

    Thanks so much for caring.

    Katie

  3. Thanks darlin! Tommorow morning at 6am. Please keep me in prayer. I will let you know how things go and will be thinking of you as well.

  4. This sounds serious and is a definite contraindication. If she will not listen to you, I would play "narc" and call her doctor's office. While they cannot discuss her case with you, there is no reason you cannot express your concern. She could have serious complications including malnutrition and alcohol poisoning. Don't delay.

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Banding will take place 10/2. I am on day 4 of Carnation Instant Breakfast and am doing OK. Whenever my hubbie is eating I take a "whiff' which I find somewhat helpful. It does help to have a good imagination! My stress right now is work. I am on the schedule as FMLA and my co-workers are either worried or nosey about my absence since they keep asking me what the deal is. I am very private about this and have told 2 work friends only. My boss has been distant and called me in on Monday to discuss my ability to "cope" and mentioned my FMLA 3 different times. My work performance is and always has been stellar. I feel picked on and think she is angry that I have not confided in her and am taking time off. Help me sort this out please. I don't want to go into surgery stressed out:crying: Bless you all!
  9. I am scheduled for surgery 10/2 and will begin my liquid diet on Wed. I have been feeling very sensitive and quick to cry the last few days. Not sure if it's nerves or what. Anyone else experience this? My boss called me in to bitch me out today for nonsense issues and kept referring to my FMLA. Is this legal? (she has no idea why I am going to be out) Help me sort this. Thanks friends:scared2:
  10. I do. 10 days of Carnation Instant Breakfast with milk. Nothing else
  11. I will be banded 10/2 - I realize I will be on clear liquids, full liquids, mushy and eventually real food after a month or so. Can you give me some suggestions to make the mushy stage more tolerable? I am a nurse and just keep thinking about all the pureed food I have fed patients. It used to make me gag. Also, can I get some healthy snack suggestions? Much appreciated Gracie
  12. Have any of you done the Carnation Instant Breakfast protocol pre-surgery? Pre-op diet consists of 5-6 sugarfree CIB daily for 10 days, nothing else but h20. If anything makes me nervous it's this liquid diet for 10 days while still trying to work a demanding job. Feedback anyone?
  13. I am scheduled for banding 2 weeks from today. yea! Yesterday I tried Carnation Instant Breakfast for breakfast and lunch (with half banana). I was starving in the afternoon and ate some pretzels and (I know I know), a few pieces of Dove chocolate. Around 4:30 I started to get overheated, shakey and weak. Thank goodness I was at my nieces home and not driving around. I felt like passing out..... Has anyone had this experience while pre-op prepping? I felt just terrible. I did it to myself, but wow was I ill for 15 minutes or so. I ate something and it passed. I'm really worried about working a busy job on a liquid diet. The bariatric center I use does not allow any solids at all for 10 days pre-op. Poor attempt at a trial that's for sure. Hopefully it will be better when I offically start.
  14. Thank you friends. I have found this forum so helpful. No real need to go to support groups since I have thousands of supporters right here. CIB with milk for 10 days starting Thursday. I can do it!!
  15. I had 25$ copays for 8 mandatory appts. Nurse clinician, MD'sX4, dietician, PT, Nut, psych. No payment beyond this. Seems like double dipping to me.
  16. Will meet with surgeon on Wednesday and get a surgery date at that time. I have read many of the "surgery day" stories and am suddenly freaked out. I am no stranger to the medical world since I an an RN, but holy cow.....feel like I'm in for a rough few days. Anyone out there with a tolerable 24 hours post-op?
  17. Anyone? I bought some this week and will begin experimenting. If you have expereince with this cruel cruel diet let me know
  18. Amybethy check your message from me:wink2:

    want support

So glad you found us. I have found this site to be supportive and friendly. A real sense of belonging. I would like to hear more about your walking program. I too hate the gym, however, I will be forced to go since Il live in Minnesota and our winters can be rough. I will be banded in the next few weeks. See surgeon on the 16th. Keep in touch.
  24. Thanks everyone. I feel much better.
