for me that's a sure sign that I've forgotten to take my Pepcid. Are you still on that? I don't know how long we're supposed to take it post-op but I'm just 2 weeks out and don't know what I'd do without it!

Had my port revision and my 5ccs
healthyby40 replied to HoneyBrown's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hey there, I checked out your blog. Great job. I also tried to leave you a comment but it said I wasn't allowed to because I am not a team member. Just wanted to let you know I was there  -
SoOoOoOoo Constipated :(
healthyby40 replied to Wimic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Miralax is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. It doesn't have a stimulant and won't cause cramps. You can put it in anything, water, coffee, etc. Or even sprinkle it on food. Post surgery I had to do 4 doses before it started working but since then I'm back on track. It's over the counter and gentle, I suggest you give it a try. -
newly banded and NOT so good :(
healthyby40 replied to Elliottsmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you were just banded 4 weeks ago, then you're probably supposed to still be on pureed foods at this point, right? My doc does 2 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks pureed, 2 weeks mushies. most other docs have something similar, although the time frames may be slightly different. You shouldn't be eating normal even if you feel you 'can'. You can be damaging the healing process. You just had major surgery on your stomach. It needs time to heal properly. Try to get back to the basics and follow the doctors orders. I wish you the best of luck! -
Where is the avg port attached
healthyby40 replied to sherun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is high too, sort of between the boob and top of rib cage. It is very tender, although I'm only 11 days out. I asked the doc why he chose to put it there and he gave me a very good explanation... In the beginning he used to hide the port in a fat roll. He had problems finding it when the patients were ready for a fill. It was painful for the patient and sometimes the patient wouldn't come back for future fills because of the pain. He'd rather be able to find it easily and painlessly, than have his patients not want to come back. I totally agree. I don't see myself EVER wearing a bikini, so it's no big deal. He said if I wanted to have it moved after I get down to my goal weight, he could embed it in a muscle, but I don't know if I'd do that unless it really bothers me. Hope that helps, good luck! -
Hi All, I had my surgery today and as far as I can tell everything went very well. My surgeon went on and on about how great my insides looked! I told him he was the very first person to ever tell me that :-) I am in a bit of pain right now because my pharmacy messed up and didn't fill my Rx, which means I was about 2 hours late getting my dose. I was so on top of the pain curve in the hospital, so I'm mad that this happened. Hopefully I'll be back on track tonight. I'll keep you all posted.

Post Op Diet
healthyby40 replied to healthyhappyme2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery on the 17th and my doc started me on 'full liquids' after the first day. That includes yogurt (no fruit it), pureed cottage cheese, and pureed oatmeal. I'm glad of that because I can't take the pain meds with nothing in my stomach or I get sick. Good luck with it. -
Hey, I was banded to day too! Congrats. I have told very few people, as I feel this is my personal journey and not anyone's business. We live in a different state than most of our family and friends so they didn't have to know. I too had some pretty bad gas pain in the hospital about an hour before going home. I got up and walked around and it went away almost immediately! I'm having a little right now too but I keep changing positions and walking around my house hoping it doesn't get too bad. Good luck with it, I hope you're feeling better tomorrow!

can someone give me info on pre-op liquid diet
healthyby40 replied to jigglebutt1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet is 10 days. I'm allowed 4 protein shakes per day, made with skim milk. I can also have cucumber, canteloupe, watermelon and grapes. He has recently added one banana per day as well. He did not place a limit on the fruits and cucumber because he knows people have the urge to chew food, and figures if he makes it pure liquids, nobody would be able to follow it for the full 10 days. I can also have sugar free jell-O and sugar free popsicles but honestly, I haven't wanted them. Most of the sugar free stuff tastes like chemicals to me these days. Good luck! -
One More ?-- Is it normal to be so dizzy?
healthyby40 replied to brandnewquiet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
UGH, any time I've had anesthesia I have severe after effects. Even when I just had laughing gas for dental work. I'm dizzy and nauseous for days afterwards. I couldn't drive even after I went off the pain meds from my last surgery, just because I was car sick all the time! It's awful. Just keep hydrated and make sure you're getting all your protein. Take it easy and allow yourself time to heal. Good luck! -
My doc says you get the first fill at 6 weeks. Until then, it's all about healing. You will still feel some restriction just from the band itself and will prob lose weight even without the fill, maybe just not as much. At least that's what I've been told!

I'm scheduled for August 17! I'm excited and nervous. Terrified that I'll have problems with the band (slippage/erosion) and wondering if I should have chosen bypass. My doc has a very low rate of complication so I should feel some confidence in that, right?! I'm also keeping this decision very quiet. I've told my sister, husband, and 2 best friends. The rest of the world doesn't need to know my business. I work very hard at diet and exercise, it's time to see some results. Good luck August buddies!

Holy cow that was a cinch!!

Great to hear because my hubby will only have 2 1/2 days off from work to be home with me and I was worried I wouldn't be ready! Good job. -
Ugh, no more shakes please....
healthyby40 replied to jamelyn1979's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad to hear other people talk about the "10 day" pre-op liquid diet. I have a friend in NY who just had surgery a few weeks ago and she only had to do 3 days. I'm going in on Aug. 17 so for now I've been testing out different shakes to see what I like and honestly, none are great. I do however like the Carnation instant breakfast with lots of ice. Must add some non fat dry milk to boost the protein. Good luck!
