Some may not like this, but I'm all about the truth. Paige, first you said you begged your doctor not to give you the band, and he said the band or nothing. Then when someone said he should not have forced it on you, you said "it's not that I didn't want the band." The band is a tool, it is not the be-all and end-all of our problems. You seem to have so much more going on, and I don't believe it's a true representation of what the average person should expect. If I had read you thread prior to my surgery it would have created more doubts. Just my 2 cents.

Big containers of whey protein powder is available at GNC to add drinks/meals for added protein. It has 24GM. Different flavors to choose from. -
Well guys I had my surgery on 11/27/06. Prior to going to TJ I was posting about how nervous I was, and couldn't quit smoking. Anyway, all went exceedingly well. What makes me the craziest patient is the following: I arrived at the clinic at app 9:30AM, and had a specific request that my surgery be done by noon. I probably had the whole place on edge. I calmed down after one of my doctors threatened to take my watch and cell phone so I couldn't keep watching the time. I finally went at 5:45PM and on the way to the OR one of the two guys that were transporting me said he had a surprise for me "a stripper" in the OR. When I entered I said "where's my stripper," and the anesthesiologist started to do a dance and go around the IV pole, I practically fell out of my wheelchair. When I got on the table someone asked where I had gotten my tattoo, to which I asked which one? at the same time the anesthesiologist injected some medication, it was 5:50PM, I know because I was still wearing my watch, Dr. Huacuz took it off and put it in his pocket. The last thing I said was "6 men attending to me, I'm in heaven." The next thing I knew I was waking up in my room with Dr. Huacuz at my bedside. I was just wheeled into my room, got up, pulled out my IV, took myself off the monitor, stumbling around the whole time. The poor Dr. is standing there going "what are you doing?" I told him "I gotta make a phone call." I grabbed my cell, made the call, and took off down the hallway, with dear Dr. trying to keep me safe. A long story short within 30 mins of leaving OR I was outside smoking. That was day one. I was up all night, poor nurse had to keep up with me. Next morning I was up, bathed, and dressed, ready to talk a walk to the mall. Dear doc asked that I wait until he got there to go to fluoro to see my band, I obliged. I saw my band, and on the way back to clinic told doc to drop me off about 2.5 miles from clinic at a market and I will make my way back, he looked petrified, but did as I asked. Long story short, if that's possible, I shopped, had to stop and sit on the sidewalk on my way back, I was now scared, I had pushed it a little too far. Thank God, I got back to the clinic safely, and am now home. I know they are glad to be rid of me, a potential liability. Dr. Huacuz and his team are awesome. I would recommend him anytime.

Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?
HealthQuest replied to weightshaker's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I just had my surgery done by Dr. Huacuz. He is just great. -
Let me add that everyone that came into the clinic the day I was leaving already knew of me before meeting me. I think I might have left an impression. Would you say? And to crown it all I'm an ICU nurse. You would think I'd behave better.

Why can't my husband understand????
HealthQuest replied to waitingtiljan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hubby is scared. He will come around. Sit him down and explain about how this affects you self esteem, and how he would have a much happier wife and marriage if he would just support your decision. Invite him to visit this site, and learn about the procedure. Keep us updated. -
"is it normal" please help!!!
HealthQuest replied to MELANIE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had mine the same day as you. I am not in excruciating pain, but it is there. Only one incision to the left over a rib has a nasty bruise around it, and I am dark skinned. In any event pain is very subjective and we all have different tolerance levels. So my advice is take your pain meds, good hot showers, and walk, walk, walk. I left the clinic on Tuesday, the day after, and walked 2.5 miles. Read my story in the general area is is hilarious. Feel better. -
Well, guys & dolls, I'm back. All went well. No big deal at-all. Feel a little poopy tho. Will update later:clap2: .

I would recommend him hands down. I was just banded by him on 11/27/06. Great Dr. and great personality. Let me know if you need more. Will be writing a long testimonial soon. Just got back in tonight. -
It was a breeze. Details later. Just got in. Running on adrenalin and loving the world right now. Love Y'all.

Well, I will be banded in less than 48 hrs. I would be fine if I had been successful at quitting smoking. I am hoping this doesn't prevent my surgery from going through. It has been a crazy ride. Everytime I get anxious about the surgery I light up. I will continue trying to quit for more reasons than LB, but it is hard and I hate it with everything I've got. Just venting. Will be in touch from TJ.:angry

Can anyone tell me if their phone worked while in Mexico. Surgery tomorrow 11/27. Nervous as heck. Thanks
-
Does anyone know of docs/clinics in the US, preferably in the SE, doing fills for pts who've had their bands placed overseas? Thanks
-
Stop beating yourself up and get back on the band-wagon girl. Now, don't do it again.

Cell Phone Use in Mexico
HealthQuest replied to HealthQuest's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Chechnya and all. -
I can't sleep. Taking some "sleepy time" tea, but sure it won't help. I am really a nervous wreck. Today is "D" day.

My surgery is also on Monday 11/27, and yes, I am a bundle of nerves. Can't wait for it to be over.
