Well were do I begin...
Once upon a time, there was this little girl, who loved to eat and eat and eat. She would eat when she was bored, happy, and sad, nothing could stop her from eating. She would hide food from her parents and sneek away and eat it all the goodies. At 14, she discovered that she wasnt like other girls, she couldnt shop at stores with her cousins. She was made fun of for being heavy and out of shape. To cope with the pain, she turned to what she knew best, food. Food was her friend, it didnt judge her, didnt make fun of her, it was something that she could control. At 17, she realized that there was nothing that she could do, but deal with it, she was Fat and Ugly. So she dealed with it, she, like everyone else decided to join in on the laughs and snickers. She would make jokes about herself, calling herself Big mama and say things like, "watch out my fat a*# will set on you!". The most disappointing part came at 22, when she planed a day trip to Hersey Park with her Boyfriend. She was so excited when she got there, being there reminded her of when she was a child and all the fun memories she had riding the rides with her family. In the distance she saw the ultimate rollercoster, she just knew she had to get on it and feel the wind in her hair. Waiting in line for a hour was just the price you had to pay to ride the best rollercoaster there. Finally, she walks to her seat, sets down, and THE LATCH WONT LATCH!!!! UGH!
~Im sad to say this sad story is a true one~
Im 27 now and I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I decided 2 months ago to look into lapband, and I am so glad I did. My mother's coworker suggested that I go to a Seminar with her in Fredrick, Md to see Dr. S Mckenna. The Seminar was awesome, he showed different methods of weight lose surgery. Through the whole thing I swear I laughed and Cried. The very next day, I contacted his office, and set up my first appointment. Allthough sadly it took nearly a month for the first visit, it was worth the wait. On my first visit (06/20/2010) they spoke with me abt the 6 month program and explained all the options again. They understood that this is a life changing experiance and it is not to be takin lighty. I received a booklet with tons of information to take home, it also contained my list to follow inorder for me to have the surgery. I also had my first visit with my nutrientist, she explained different way to prepare me for post opp. For istance; chewing foods properly, portion control, and not drinking while eating a meal. She gave me a guide to help me control my eating habits and gave me advise on how to use the guide. The staff at Dr. Mckennas truley made my first visit a pleasant one, I didnt feel judged at all. The last thing I did was get weighed in. Seeing my weight on the large scale was a scary one, and when I shivered, the nutrientist looked at me and said with a smile, " no stress honey, thats what your here for." I loved it, it was so nice to hear those words come from her. :)

I just had my second Visit at Dr. Mckenna's on 07/20/2010, with the tips they gave me I lost in total 5lbs. Getting on the scale I was super excited. I forget to tell u in the last part, with the surgrey Dr. Mckenna requires you to lose atleast 10lbs before surgery to get weight off of your liver. So I am half way there ;)!!! Anyways, during my second visit I spoke with nutrientist again, and we spoke abt vitamins and she explained the pre op diet they would require me to do, two weeks before the surgery. Im hoping to lose atleast 30 lbs before Dec. Dec. should be the round abt time for me to have the surgery. She stated that my last visit with her should be Nov. then it takes abt three weeks to get the final approval. :) My next visit and weigh in will be Aug.18th and I will finally get a one on one with Dr. Mckenna. SO EXCITED!!!

Hey everyone..Im so proud to say that I have lost 8lbs in total since my last visit.. Im so flippin excited..and I knw your saying to yourself..gesh Carrie its only 8lbs, but to me..its 50lbs. :):):) To be honest I really do feel 8lbs lighter. I started taking a 'one a day' vitaman as well, who knws maybe they put some 'make u feel good medicine' in those things, but I feel happier too..lol...but anyways.. I just wanted to share my good news with everyone.. For the past 4 days, I have been starting my day off great. I wake up in the morning 'well my morning' and before I have time to hit the snooze button, I tell myself ' carrie you can do this' and I get up and put on my bathing suit. I found that if I swim first thing in the morning, I feel better about what I eat during that day. Plus good news to all you swimmers out there, did you knw that you could burn up to 1000 calories in just 45 mins of swimming. You can lose even more if you excerise in the pool as well. I found this website that helps me calculate the calories I burn throughout the day..from swimming to talking on the ph....www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc... I love this site.. I also use... Calorieking.com to help me calculate my calories in different foods.... Having tools at my hands has made losing weight easier. I truely am trying to lose and keep off the weight. More importanly I am trying to get a jump start on my weight lose for after I have my surg. So wish me luck and hopefully the next time I blog, I will have lost another lb...PS...wishing all those going thru this journey lots of luck too :)
