Columbia NY Presbyterian Doctor - Bessler
asanz replied to yologirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My procedure with him was simple, quick and painless - even though he first removed the band THEN performed the sleeve. He is quick and efficient... what more can you ask for... still rated one of the best, btw! -
Thought I'd share my miserable story of a lesson learned - I got my band in November of 06 and it took about 3-4 months for fills to start having an effect. Two weeks ago I had an adjustment to 6.5cc's - This seems to be my sweet spot. Went to Jackson Hole ( a great burger joint) in Bayside, Queens on Sunday, and kinda forgot about my band... HUGE mistake, as a chunk of burger got stuck... bad. I proceeded to PB in the restaurant bahroom twice, then on the ride home on the Clearview, TNB, 95 and the Hutch before the chunk got unstuck. What a horrible, horrible experience, but lesson learned. So far I've lost 70 pounds and feel great, but must re-concentrate on not just how much I eat, but what I'm eating. Well, that's my story... food for thought! :biggrin1: André

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
asanz replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded November, 2006, and have since had fills that have brought me up to 6ml's. I'm asuming that my next fill (next Friday) may bring me to my sweet spot. My question - How can I tell my sweet spot from things getting stuck..? What's the difference in feeling. Thanks... -
Can you please post the url or the name of the forum that this came from..? I'd love to read this in context, as I am a new VG'er with only a 1.5cc fill, and a doctor that wants to progress 1cc at a time... Thanks!

Does anyone have a link to a location at inamed.com that references thier recommendation for filling VG Bands? I searched but found nothing specific to topic. Thanks! -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

BeacheeGirl's starting post is what I am feeling word-for-word. I was banded with a VG on November 21st, and due to holidays, etc., got my first fill one week ago... 1.5cc's. :faint: No restriction at all... If I need to wait 5-6 months at 1cc per month to hit my sweet spot, I'll go crazy... and put back all the weight I lost. My doctor stated that he does fills at 1cc per month. Is that a personal decision, or some sort of formal guideline? What is the average fill per visit for VG people..? -
I have the Vanguard (10c) band that is currently empty... I go for my first fill on January 8th. Check this link for more info: http://www.core.monash.org/placement.html

Hi, I'm exactly 3 weeks post Op, and I have swelling above my port incision that is not going away, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? It doesn't hurt, but it's just annoying/concerning. Doctor said that it is probable a bouldup of Fluid that will go away by itself over time..?

I know that PB stands for productive burp, but is it as rough as 'throwing up'? Got my band on Tuesday in NYC, and I'm trying to really learn now that it's actually happened. Thanks... André
