I thought about a lap band years ago - I think I must have seen an infomercial or something but it was a fleeting thought :-). Then last year a couple of family members had full gastric bypass surgery. One went to Dr. Ram & the other went to a different surgeon. They both look amazing. It's really weird how when you see a person often you really don't know realize how big they are. Last year I too lost @45 lbs on my own but then I stalled. I didn't gain the lost weight back but I havent' lost anymore since then either. I was really discouraged and knew I needed something to motivate me. Another family member had made an appt with Dr. Ram and decided to get the lap band. Once I talked to her, I decided this might be for me too. I met with Dr. Ram & his staff in April and I was banded on June 23rd. I was nervous all the way up to my surgery day. Was I really making the right decision, was I going to be able to function knowing I had this foreign object in my body, was it safe? I was full of questions. This is only the beginning of my journey but I'm sure looking forward to the outcome. Since my surgery I've lost 14 lbs. I know that it's an uphill battle and this is a tool, but with every tool, if you use it wisely, it will work for you!
