I am 2 days post op. I have been on clear liquids for 3 days now, and full liquids for 5 days preop. Today i got on the scale and found that i had gained three and a half pounds which put me at the weight i was when i had my first consult with the surgeon exactly 1 week ago. I am getting very discouraged. Any body experience weigh gain? I had initially lost 3 and 1/2 pounds when i first started the full liquid diet.

Taking Glucophage 1000mg post band surgery
gloglo posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need advice regarding taking pills post surgery. I am on Glucophage 1000mg twice daily. I am worried about taking this pill after i am banded tomorrow. It is a rather large pill, which is scored so i can cut it in half. But even cut in half it is still big. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am also taking an number of smaller pills. I want to prepare myself for this. -
Day 4 post op and feeling a little down today
gloglo replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you are feeling down. I am a nurse and happen to know that most people experience after anesthesia blues. Depression after anesthesia is common, but does not last long. Try to get back on your antidepressants, and know that this too shall pass. -
Considering LapBand at Strax Rejuvination in Florida
gloglo replied to hopetobeskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called strax to inquire about the cost and surgery. I got a man on the phone who immediately started pressuring me to come in right away and sign up. I was turned off by this, so i never went. I got the impression that all they were after was my money. I made an appt. with Dr. Thomas Bass at Hollywood bariatrics, and their prices are comparable to Strax. They also offer a plan that covers complications for a little more money. I felt very secure with this, since i am self pay. So i signed up for the insurance. Hollywood bariatrics offers good follow up care, good educational classes, and group support. Since i am a nurse, i was very impressed with thier program. Before you make up your mind compare what strax has to offer versus Hollywood Bariatrics or any other doctor. -
Surgery in 2 days and i have a scratchy throat!
gloglo posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its just my luck, that i am coming down with a cold and my surgery is in less than 48 hours. I am doing the liquid diet and i am having a hard time. Last night i finished off the remainders of a bag of potato chips. I feel like such a failure. I cant wait till after the surgery, when i wont feel so hungry any more. I hope my surgeon does not cancel my surgery due to the cold. -
I saw my doctor for the first time on august 3. I was scheduled for surgery on Aug. 9. I have been on the liquid diet for 2 days. So far it has been ok. I am not suffering major hunger pangs, but i sure do have head hunger. I was excited to get a date for surgery so soon, but then reality hit me. This surgery is not a quick fix. If i am to be successful, i will have to make major life style changes like a commitment to exercise and diet. I am a carb addict, and my doctor told me that if i was to succeed, i must eliminate all carbs, and stick to meat, low glycemic vegies, and fruit. He also strongly recommended psychologic counseling to deal with my food and weight issues. I am not nervous, and am looking forward to getting it done. However i have this fear of failure with the lap band. I have failed so many times before with diets and medications. I dont want to fail again, especially since i am self pay. Has anyone experienced significant amounts of weight gain after surgery? It would be nice to hear from you.

Who's getting banded in August 09?
gloglo replied to Froggie D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting banded Aug 9. How are you doing? Are you on the liquid diet? -
I am seriously considering having lap band surgery. I will be self pay since my insurance wont cover it. My BMI is 29.5. I am considered overweight, and have been battling my weight since i was in my 30s. I have diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and i snore. Is there anyone in this forum who has had the surgery for the above reasons. And has anyone with a low bmi had the surgery. I would like to hear from you. I know of studies done with diabetics and this surgery, which have been cured from the diabetes, and wonder if this would be good for me.
