I took it easy for several days but stairs were never a problem which I was grateful for!! A gallon on milk was surprisingly heavy at first but you should be fine after a few days but do walk as much as you can!
-
My nutrionist said that counts!! yay for crystal lite!
-
I would get an appt with the nutritionist that works with the group. Maybe you need to change something up? I lose more when I eat a certain way - I lose almost nothing if I do a near fasting diet. Not sure how long post op you are but it took me over a month to see results so don't give up on it!
-
Sounds like you are off to a wonderful start!
-
Good luck getting it all worked out - we all are pulling for you! Your new addition is beautiful - I love German Shepherds and Leigha is right, they are the most protective and loyal of all dogs, she just needs some time to feel like it is her home. Best wishes!!

Jealous!! Actually congratulations is what I meant! You are awesome and I hope to get to the point of running some day

the emotional part after the banding
grigg4 commented on desperatelyw.loss's blog entry in Blog 87430
I cried a lot after getting home - on and off for about 2 weeks and could not understand why! I think my body was just so confused with the surgery and the liquid diet and once I could eat more than broth it started to subside.... then once I was on limited foods it got even better! Please don't stress about it but if you think it would be helpful to talk to your psychologist, then you should - and that is what they are there for!!! I was about 3-4 weeks out before I could say I was truly excited about my new journey but it does come - I promise. -
I went for my first doc visit today and he was happy with my progress and decided to skip the fill this time. I am feeling great and started exercising / walking my extra hilly neighborhood and don't feel like I am dying! Every day is just better than the last and for all of you out there getting started on your journey, congratulations! Any suggestions on favorite vitamins? I failed to start that and now gotta get on the ball asap!
-
I am coming up on my first visit and am wondering if he will want to do a fill or not. Is there a certain criteria that they use to make that decision?
-
I was right with you not two weeks ago! Don't worry, you will change your mind and soon! I didn't even lose any weight until I went off liquids so don't let that discourage you. I had said many times those first two weeks, "I did this to MYSELF!" (crying) now I say, "I did this FOR myself!" It is an adjustment for your entire self, mentally and physically. Try to have patience - it is a small amount of time in the big picture ! You WILL be a success!
-
I had the same thing but it does slowly go down - it is only natural to worry since all these things going are are new and weird! 1 week to my banding I started my period so I had that cramp with the other pain and I was VERY ticked off to say the least! I am now 3 weeks out and doing much better - feeling like myself again. hang in there!
-
I am 3 weeks post op and gotta say I feel the best today and it is only getting better! I would definatly agree with LoseIt! and what is 1 holiday compared with the rest of your life! I also have to laugh because when I did that huge psych evaluation after all that, he said that I am outgoing and anxious! I said, well that sums me up pretty good... (here's $650 !) Good luck and can't wait to see how it goes for you!
-
So Cute!!! I am pretty short so I don't know if I could pull that off!?!
-
Yikes! I don't know what to say! I would reach out to the nutritionist - you definatly need some support from the medical team - good luck and keep us posted
-
I am 2 weeks post op now and today is the first day I feel happy!! It is a major shock to your system (surgery) and the first week I kept saying - I did this to myself!! -- now --- very happy and looking forward to the future for the first time in a LONG time! Can't wait to hear how you are doing!
-
Walking by far is the best but I also found sipping warm liquid helped and a heating pad helped too (when it was horrible from my c-section) good luck this week!
-
Sounds like fun!! Jealous!! I am having to fly 9/14 and my first post op appt is 9/2 so I am going to be sure to not have a fill. I can't imagine going off with 2 men from my office and having issues on a plane!! Can't wait to hear how your trip was and how you did flying!

Tomorrow I am heading back to work for the first time since surgery and I am very nervous! Surgery was almost 2 weeks ago and I spent my 2nd week off work at Sunset Beach NC. It was beautiful and quite and I could just do at my pace. Sometime last Wednesday, I decided to go sit on the beach and used spray on sunscreen. It must have been the end of the bottle since I have white splotches on my left upper arm in the middle of nasty red skin! As if I wasn't struggling with how I feel trying to recover, but a burn too? Seriously?! At least it isn't my entire body! Does anyone have any advice for the scared feelings of returning to work? I work for a major stock brokerage firm and deal in a lot of money!!

sandradee0124 - thanks so much for the pep-talk / ideas... you were right! smithcl7 - I guess it depends on what your pain tolerance is - I thought mine was high but guess not that high! anyway - I was really fuzzy headed for the entire 2 weeks and in my job that could be very expensive.
-
You are very smart to do the food changes now and I know what you mean... I miss my Diet Coke! Best of luck and keep focused on the prize - a new and improved you!
-
I am on day 5 and your post made me think about a conversation with one of the nurses.... do you have a robe? No, and don't even own one either! hahaha!! She made me a double gown and I was styling while making my laps around the floor.
-
I am right there with you! I am one day ahead and today was the best day yet - hang in there! I could not have protein shakes until today and wow - yum! It took away that cranky nasty crying feeling. I am still very weak but took a walk outside thanks to a wonderful cool front that came in. I walked about 2x longer than my husband thought I would want to. I know I will feel even better next week too! Just want you to know you are not alone and get some pain meds!!
-
I am on my 5th day post op and am so happy that every day gets better and easier. Stepping away from just broth and jello makes a huge difference and I really love my protein shakes right now! I feel very satisfied and hope that one day soon I will be able to think straighter than I have been. I am so glad I have this week off too! We are heading to the beach in the morning and I look forward to a change of scene even if I will not be eating any seafood this time. Thanks to everyone on this site for being so generous with their support and great help to all that ask. All I have to do is read on the site and I get info I haven't even thought about asking! What an awesome support system everyone is. I look forward to all your good advice!

Tues July 27th is the beginning of the rest of my life!

From the first consultation to surgery is about 3 months. At least that what I had here in Winston Salem NC. My heathcare has a section for bariatric and I was assigned a case worker of such and she basically did a phone interview and told me I qualified - then I did the nutrition class and the psych evaluation in June. At that time they were scheduling for August but I spoke with the coordinator of the team and she was able to slide me in for 7/27. I really consider myself lucky to have had such a smooth process. If there is a point person in the surgeon's group that coordinates with patients, ask lots of questions! Did you ask your insurance carrier what their requirements are?
