I am in the final week of waiting for my surgery. I am 41 and have been overweight for 19 years ... funny - that is the age of my first child! I was never thin as a rail, I had curves and a chest and a nice waist! All that changed after I had my 1st 10 1/2 lb baby in 1991. I gained 60 lbs and never raelly lost it. Fastforward to 1996 and another 10 1/2 lbs child. Needless to say, I stopped at the 2nd large baby! I lost control over my weight after that... or maybe I ignored it ? I have asthma and it makes cardio exercise really difficult. With this extra weight it now makes it nearly impossible. I feel like I have spent 20 years being fat and wasting my youth. I declared this year to be the year of me! I always but everyone first. I will always do that but I will find a way to slide myself into the equation. I thought about doing the Lap Band for years and even met several people that have done successfully and told me about the good, the bad and the ugly. I have never met someone that regretted it. Several people know of my pending date and everyone that knows is super supportive. I can't imagine how hard it would be for that support to be lacking. I look forward to documenting the new me!
