I have been over weight all my life, and come from a large family background. My husband and i have been trying for a baby for nearly 3 years unsuccessfully, and after being referred to the fertility clinic we were told unless i lost 3 to 4 stone they wouldn't be able to treat me. I managed to lose just short of 2 stone over the course of a year then came stuck again, with which i lost heart and gradually put it all back on in half the time it took me to lose it in the first place. After much soul searching and endless discussions we took the decision to look into having a gastric band done. I was lucky enough to have a good friend who has also had this done by the same surgeon, who enlightened me to the pro's and con's of having this procedure done. After which we felt this was the appropriate action for us to take. We have taken the decision not to tell our family or friends until this is done, as it's been hard enough without all their input to contend with as well. So im sure this forum will be invaluable to me in the time leading up to having the band fitted, and especially after.
