BMI over 50 - In it for the long haul

I like the costco one also, but on the list my Dr. gave me there's about 15 protein drinks to pick from. The one I know that comes in flavors is Instant Breakfast. You can get it at the grocery store. Only down side it doesn't have as much protein & low calories as the costco one you mentioned. I don't know about the soups, my Dr. let me have soup everyday for lunch, but might not stick with you like a protein drink will if you have 5 a day. Last week when I went for a fill after appt. I went to the store & only cold protein drink they had was muscle milk I couldn't stand that one either. It sucks being picky Good luck I know this part is hard but well worth it! -
Running?...Heck I don't remember what that is like. I'am impressed & hope to someday do it again. You should be so proud of yourself & what a Great SIL you have.

Was the pain from the surgery the horrible experience your talking about? If so it does get better with time. Everybody heals at a different rate & pain levels vary between people. I wouldn't get to worried about the weight gain. Your body's healing & needs time. When you start getting fills then you will start to see a change, but even then we have to be patient. We will come out the winner on this weight loss battle I just know it! Keep posting & let us know how your doing. We care:)

I use a chewable multivitamin. I use Centrum silver because I'm over 50 yrs. old. They have Centrum in a lot of varieties for different ages & sexes. I like the citrus berry flavor, but anything you can chew would be just fine. I've also added a extra B-12 1000mg. for hair loss. Hope this helps

Successful Daughter Visit; Back to Monday!!!

Sounds like you had a great time & really remarkable that you were still able to lose weight. Kudos to you!!! -
Congrats on your weight loss! I had my first fill 3 days ago. My Dr.'s office says no solid food 4 hrs. before fill. We can have protein drinks up to 1 hr. before fill. They wanted my stomach fairly empty so they could see how fast the liquid I drank ran through it. When the saline goes in the band I couldn't feel any tightening around my stomach. Hope this helps & Good Luck.

Size 22 to a 16, what to do about my clothes??
Winks commented on smiley8's blog entry in Blog 98477
I was looking under new posts & saw a Clothes Exchange for Bandsters. It's under Re: Looking for September 2010 Bandsters, page 27. They are starting a new group to exchange clothes with other Bandsters. You might check it out & see how it works. Great job on the weight loss! -
Wow that sucks having to do it a second time. My first week after surgery I couldn't have done zumba, so you must be a fast healer. You'll be back up in no time & everybody loves time off from work

I went for my first fill yesterday & I don't feel any different. My Dr. uses Fluoroscopy so they could see how much saline I needed. I drank & they were happy that liquid was finally slowing down. They put in 5cc & said that is a lot for first time fill. Well here's my question...How come I'm still starving? I have to stay on liquids for 48 hrs. in case of swelling. I always follow my Dr.'s advice because he's done a lot of these, but I think I'm not falling in the normal category. Has anyone had a fill this big & still been hungry?...I'm holding on to every bit of will power I possess but 4 weeks is a long time to be so hungry... On the lighter side I've lost 20 lbs.:scared2: Any advice would be welcome!

Well I said after my first fill I would post how it went. Nurse in Dr.'s office weighted me. I'm down 20 lbs. Yay! Dr. checked my incisions looked good. Yay! I told him & anybody else who would listen how hungry I've been since day 3 after banding. He said I didn't swell he guessed but I still had to wait 4 weeks like everybody else. Today was finally the fill day. Yay! My Dr. has fluoroscopy so I sit in chair lift up shirt chair goes back until your almost laying down. Machine hovers over me, they feel my port than can see it through machine screen (like x-ray) they mark the spot. Then slip needle into lap band. Not gonna lie hurt a little because incision is only 4 weeks healed. They try to suck air out first, then put in saline 2cc first. Then I drink this milky stuff that's suppose to taste tropical:( & they watch to see how it runs through the stomach. Long story short it took 5cc to make that liquid slow down. I get to go back in 3 weeks & thank goodness because it's been over 8 hrs. & I have no restriction. I have to stay on liquid diet for 48 hrs. in case of swelling. I'm still hungry & hope tomorrow I wake up feeling full. If not I'll try & be good another 3 weeks. When I hit that sweet spot as they call it I will be a very happy girl! Well hope this helps people who haven't had a fill yet, but remember every Dr.'s office is different so you might have a totally different experience. Wow! Your working this program really hard so this is probably just a plateau. The hair thinning has been happening to me & my Dr. put me on 1000 mg. of Vitamin B-12. It takes about a month I guess to see results. There's shampoo & other stuff but I'm trying this first. It's ok to vent...Your alway's giving such good advice & fellowship to other's, now it's our turn to help you. :-)

I did the medifast diet for two weeks, torture but I did live to tell about it. lol:lol: I lost 12 lbs. It's a 800 calorie diet but you do get to eat instead of liquid only. My Dr. wanted me to shrink my liver so it would be easier to lift when banding my stomach (sounds gross:eek:)! I had this done on July 28, 2010 I get my first fill next week on the 26th. none to soon I'm starving. I'm glad you started this all the posts seemed like they were from years ago. Let's stay in touch & encourage each other:thumbup: C. Winks -
HELP: Got banded yesterday and im swollen... need advice
Winks replied to lapband88's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are these meds. something you have to have right now? If not don't force them, if yes check with pharmacist if you can crush them to swallow easier. Do you have liquid pain med. from your Dr.? If yes take it, if not call & get some. They should have also given you nausea strips to put behind your ear. If not get some of those also. Have you tried Gas-X strips for your gas (besides walking)? If not get the ones that dissolve on your tongue so your stomach can rest. Maybe try a couple of sips of warm chicken broth. Sometimes it's a vicious circle of needing something on your stomach, but not too much to make you throw up. This is what I did for the first 24 hrs. & it worked out ok. Hope this helps it does get better  -
Your not alone...I've been starving for 3 weeks & 2 days & I could bore you with the hours & minutes..lol My Dr. said it's because our stomachs didn't swell like most peoples do after banding. I'll tell you tomato soup in a mug has saved me between meals. I don't have any other tricks...but whatever you do don't watch commercials..too much food! Hang in there we can do this!

Your big day's here! Sorry you have a cold hopefully that won't change anything for you. I'm sending good thoughts your way.

Feeling sore isn't odd at all. I was tender for about 2 weeks on my larger incision. I'm 3 weeks banded & all the tenderness is gone. Everybody is different but after only 4 days I'd say your doing great. Welcome aboard on this incredible journey were all taking together.
