Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Lap_dancer replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Girls I'm holding your hand in spirit! ....................................................................... OMG I am trying to keep up with this thread! HOLY COW! ................................................................................ To the Monday and Tuesday clan - We are gonna rock the joint! Fast recoveries and on our way to meeting our dreams. My trainer gave me a celebration bracelet with the charms "Dream" "Believe" "Achieve" ! Hugs to all, Michelle You know it Michelle! We are going to sail through our surgeries and one day all of us Dr. K patients will meet. Love sent your way all. I appreciate the kind words and support given here. FOUR DAYS! Flying out to Denver on Monday. Many co-workers wishing me luck at work yesterday and today. My boss even came by my location and sat with me for a talk. She knows me from 8 years ago when she hired me as a whirlwind of activity but slowly the weight and other problems anchored me. She was the one who said to me two years ago "Go to a doctor and take it one thing at a time until you get it resolved and you're feeling better." Life is good. -
Big time! What you sow, you reap. For all the lives Mr. P hurt, for the things he said and did. Now he'd better walk gently, he has a minus debit that life will call for payment eventually.

I run I bike I ran a triathalon I wear a 38 pants and used to wear a 52 I sunbathe in the backyard mind you with a bikini top on I sit crosslegged on the floor I skip I am in love I love me....I didn't for a long time, but now I think I am learning how to again. I love my gorgeous honey I promote exercise and healthy eating in my home and to anyone who will listen I have helped people who struggled with the decision, some did, some didn't I love the tool that I chose to use So regrets, yes there are regrets, but mostly the good outweighs all those....hope I didn't scare you.-trace ......................................... Didn't scare me. I want to run. I want to walk without pain. I want to talk and stand without losing my breath and getting winded. Right now I cannot see how staying in my present state is benefiting me. Thanks for sharing. My one regret.............. I didn't do this sooner. -

what I wish I had known/done presurgery
Lap_dancer replied to healthny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Very good! This makes me feel so good. Great job and congrats your way. I am too heavy to walk as I have injuries in my feet and ankles thanks to clumsy falls. But I walk slowly and I know once more weight comes off, I will have superior energy. I've been doing the Advant Edge for two days and prior to that I was doing Ensure. My stomach has shrunk, I'm sleeping like a baby, and I've already dropped my Paxil dose down. Next TUESDAY!!! -

Post Op Liquid Diet Question - Help?
Lap_dancer replied to OnlyMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said Clear Liquids and Water for the first two weeks. He suggested Protein drink such as Atkins the 2-3rd week. 4th week is soft foods. Fat free Jello, fat free pudding, but moreso were these words... Start with the protein. The first week I'm not worried about eating food. I'll sip my clear stuff and tote my water. I figure if Jesus can fast for forty days then I'm good with my extra 200 lbs., chicken broth, and water for a couple of weeks! -
Hi Roger. Best of luck to you. Welcome to Lap Band Talk.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Lap_dancer replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
******** To the detoxers ********** I bowed to the fact I have an eating problem....joke is....I don't have an eating problem, I can eat, NO PROBLEM! ((Smiling)) I started detoxing about five weeks ago but it has not been a pure diet. I would start in the morning with my protein shake. If I hit lunch and faltered, okay but I wouldn't allow myself to graze like a cow. Next day and so on and so on, I would start with the protein shake and go from there until I got to protein in the morning, noon, mid-afternoon and then protein for dinner. I allow myself what I perceive as a "cheat" which might be something like a biscuit. And more than that... Water, water, water, water, water. I drink Propel Fitness water by Gatorade. 25 calories per 16.5 oz. bottle, 4 grams of sugar, 6 carbs and Vitamin C, E, Niacin, B6, B12, Panthothenic Acid. The flavors are great with Kiwi-Strawberry leading the pack. It's one way I'm getting my vitamins in there. -

Drewslou you look AWESOME! Go sister! Look at them legs~~~ woo hoo~ Hello friends. Great to read all the news. Monday Monday Monday! I fly to Denver. My appt is at 4 PM. Surgery is at 10 Am on Tuesday morning. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn in Parker, CO near the hospital. Will be there Monday - Wednesday flying out TR morning. Give me a hollar if you are there. Last name is "Reeves". Detoxing still. Easter was a piece of cake (no cake). My days go like this: Ensure liquid protein shake (breakfast, lunch and mid afternoon snack) Dinner PROTEIN as in chicken or chicken or chicken. Had pizza on Sunday but I KNOW this flush is working. Hubby says the upper part of my stomach is much smaller and looking flatter. (shrink that liver baby!) Peace to all. Getting THISCLOSE. WOOOO HOOOO! -
Hi Keluliana Great topic! The last straw for me was sort of the last dominoe that fell. I still hadn't succeeded! And I still hadn't succeeded.... when I said I would lose weight because I now was diagnosed with diabetes and sleep apnea and was having difficulty staying awake because of the apnea and my great fatigue caused by the medications I was on for pain because I fell and injured my large frame and required painkillers to help me get through my day at work. I love my job BUT it was becoming increasingly difficult to walk. I was and am constantly winded. Not to mention all the times I say "NO" to outings involving my family because I don't want to be a party pooper or force them to miss out on any activity because I have pain or need to lay down and rest my back. So not ONE thing but a domino effect.

Everyone here, you are awesome! I don't have much of a choice given my size and history. My band is the next option before disability I feel I am that close to it. I had 2 c-sections and an ovary removed so I think this will be a walk in the park.

'Hostage situation' portrays killers as Christians
Lap_dancer replied to leatha_g's topic in Rants & Raves
Exactly. That is the disturbing part. I know a woman who is Islamic and she was my intern for a semester. We became quite close, she graduated and then married someone within her faith. A few years later they had an adorable little boy and had moved north where her husband could begin his medical practice. Then 9-11 happened. SHE had not experience anything directly but her family had. They were staying quite close together with obvious fear they would be targeted for a hate crime. I cannot imagine living like that day after day. I felt like that on September 11 for being an American and it didn't waiver my patriotism one ounce but it did give me a taste of what it is like to be the target of hate based solely on your culture or religion. -
I say we all go to Sunta's house! Sunta how do you make this: Renaissance salad (cabbage, spinach, baby greens and herbs, sweet pickles, green olives, mandarin oranges, golden raisins, capers, vinagrette)

@ Mini - Good job of realizing your parameters with Mom and setting some boundaries. Sometimes that needs to happen. I'm jittery but in a I can't wait kind of way. I'm excited and nervous and happy all in one. @Woofay - Hope you're hanging in there! Light candles, think good thoughts of what will be. @ Taterbug: These words from you: We are starting on a trip and right now, we are standing looking down the road we are about to go on but haven't put our foot out to actually get moving. All the questions that we know we have are running around in our heads and I think that there must be some questions/concerns/worries that are in the mix that we might not even be aware of. Hence.. the moods, panic attacks, etc. I'm right there with ya Woo! One day at a time and soon.. we will be on our 'trip'. are so inspirational! Thanks for that analogy. It does remind me of a journey. Like we're all on a bus and we're stopping at the lines and picking up each passenger with a destination known. @ Drewslou: I love the idea of losing sizes! As long as you can feel it, the rest will come along. -
Throwing up can leave you with acid reflux. Making yourself throw up is something you don't want to do. It's dangerous on so many levels and is not a resolution to the problem. Medication therapy can help reflux. (check with your doctor or try the "Purple Pill" over the counter) I would also suggest a change in diet. I had reflux so bad I use to cry. My doctor told me to cut out any caffinated products (no coffee), high acid foods (tomatoes) and citric foods (orange juice) were no, no's. But after a few days, I felt wonderful. Also do not eat later in the evening (atleast 3 hours before bedtime). Some of these are simple fixes to the problem Best of luck to you!

'Hostage situation' portrays killers as Christians
Lap_dancer replied to leatha_g's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm not threatened at all in my faith by this excercise. In the arena in which it played out, it is no different than militant christians who blow up abortion clinics "in the name of God". To me, these people are no different than those who blow up things "in the name of Allah". The school's objective was the drill. The goal for training was to see response and reaction in the event there is a situation where students and staff are at-risk. The drill went well, the Super. reported a successful outcome so the goal was achieved. It has nothing to do with religion. -

Whats a snappy response for are you going to have a tummy tuck now?
Lap_dancer replied to edieparks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Girl you crack me up! :heh: ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I came up with: "I'll tuck my tummy if you'll tuck your head up your ass" *I'm just too sassy for my own good.* -
Totally understand what happened. I'm very happy for you that you are atlast banded. Welcome! Many of us are detoxing our livers to shrink them prior to surgery. It makes access to the location easier. Best of luck to you and happiness as you slide down in number!
