I played this game with my son. I was at Target one day and walked by the big boy panties and told him one day he would be able to wear them once he could poop on the potty. This peeked his interest but my son had an issue with the smell, the look, the strain of #2 coming out. He wanted no part of the disposal of it. One day when he did go, I had those big boy panties ready. I ran into his room and grabbed them and clapped and told him NOW he could wear them and we put them on and put his pants on then went to grandmas and let her peek just below his waistline to see the elastic of the big boy panties which had Ninja Turtles on them. When he had an accident, time to clean up. He got a little help from me but when he is old enough to say "I have to go poop" then he's old enough to go poop but he might need help with wiping. The whole experience is just a bummer and the important thing is to not have them feel sub-human because they aren't getting into the potty thing.

How much money do you save now on your food bill??

At this rate, I will be able to afford a cruise in six months. -
I would ask to see a copy of my policy where is says that they cover bypass but not lapband. Bypass is more invasive.

that was what I was going to say.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Lap_dancer replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Michelle! I got a great hug from Sunny and of course the photo with her is priceless. I'm doing really good. I'm sticking to the broths and jello and water. Doing that religiously for two to three weeks. My surgery took a little longer. My liver was not FAT but FLAT and wiggly like it had been deflated. So he had to lift it, lift it, lift it. (smiling) But he told my husband he got "every stitch in there". I feel so blessed. I feel all the prayers from everyone and good wishes. This strength bound together by our common experience is like a precious metal. LD -
Traveling by plane tomorrow
Lap_dancer replied to JeninCO's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great advice. One more thing. They have this rule now called 3-1-1. No more than 3 oz. of Fluid at carryon. One quart size Ziplock bag as your carryon. This doesn't include your purse. Medications in ziplock bags. I put my drink in my purse and got through security by telling them I was a surgical patient with specific things I needed. The liquid was one of them. I showed them all my medications ( in a clear Ziplock bag) I brought this to the attention of the counter personnel long before I reached security. When they wheeled me up, the guy pushing me was already relaying to security my needs. -
Fish are friends, not food. - Finding Nemo I'm saying silly things like this to myself to make friends with food. Food has been the thing I have been carniverous towards. I would eat it tastelessly going down. I'm wanting to appreciate the nutrition it gives to my body and for me, it's almost like the loss of a close friend who comforted me in ways that werent' healthy. I felt like crying before I got banded. Deanna we're all in this same boat and we all have similar goals. We will get there. And we'll Celebrate our victories all the way down.

Very cute. "My life as a fat woman"! Looking forward to more.

Okay in reality, you CAN have it removed. Just putting that seed in there even though I don't think you should. The bypass is the operation where your organs are cut and joined, not the Lap Band. Welcome to the band. Remember your goals? I can see them on your ticker. You had a great pre-op diet time which shows you have it in you to take it down to where you want to be. It's okay to be scared. I am looking at my band as a new part of me. Like a beautiful flower (a Stargazer Lily) resting inside my stomach and sending out fragrance that helps to prevent me from overeating and gives me that FULL feeling for the first time in my life. Hang in there.

Oh, and there will be a wheelchair waiting for you when you arrive. They wheel you to baggage claim and pickup your luggage for you. -
Traveling by plane tomorrow
Lap_dancer replied to JeninCO's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew two days after being banded. No problem. It was just the hustle and bustle of airports that bothered me. Do yourself a favor, call the airline, tell them you are post surgical and need a wheelchair. When you get to the airport there will be wheelchairs there. Someone will wheel you right up to the desk for checkin, someone will wheel you to the gate and you will be first to board. Ask for a bulkhead seat. This way you can stretch your legs and not crunch your tummy so much. This is a time when I am using my handicapped status for its intent. I had a lovely flight home. -
Hi Michelle. I'd have to say right now my relationship with food as more towards what will feed my body what it needs vs. that old timey recipe for buttery poundcake that Auntie D use to bake. Second: Nothing with the band I did sustain some slight trauma from intubation that left some minor bleeding which I am coughing out. No serious pain, no fever, I actually feel quite fine. Third: My heart aches for morbidly obese individuals. I don't think people who are overweight truly understand all of the personal complications that occur when you are twice if not three times the size of a normal human being. Not that I "feel sorry" in a pity sense it's more of a physical sense of what they go through on a daily basis that can be painful and emotionally traumatic. Part of my friendship with LapBandTalk has been the others that DO understand.

I've heard about the Hell. I was told by my doctor that it is necessary to give the surgical site time to heal. I can deal with that. Hopefully others have ideas? I'm loving the hot Soups and hot coffee with ice. I think it's the hot that feels so good inside. How about that strange girgle sound going down??? (smiling) That freaked me at first. Keep posting back Skinny. I'm a week behind you.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Lap_dancer replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I think this summer might be on my agenda because I need my first fill. I can do Denver. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I am soooo thankful I went to Dr. Kirshenbaum. Ex: I'm having a little bleeding which I am thinking is from the surgery when they intubated me. I called Dr. Kirshenbaum's office and he called me within a half hour. He is so personable, answers all questions clearly and concisely and the facilities were so fantastic. The center at Parker is beautiful! I have not one single regret. I'm so happy. -
If the price was right and the competence was there, I'd drive down to Sarasota. I live about 3 hours from there but what a great town. I will be looking for someone long term to minitor my port and saline status but plan on sticking with my doc in Denver the first year or so. I think you cannot go wrong encouraging your employer to go this route. There are centers for surgery popping up and I think the Lap Band will eventually pass the procedure track on bypass.

Did your surgeon call to check up after your surgery?
Lap_dancer replied to JeninCO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I cannot give enough praise to Dr. Kirshenbaum. What an amazing guy. I just called him long distance because I had a concern. He called me back in about 30 minutes. He is great for communication, great bedside manner. The team in Colorado made my 1500 mile journey worth every penny I paid. -
Vicki J, wishing you the best. High five!

Hi. I was banded three days ago. Gettin Skinny I just talked to my doc. and he said you can't stretch the stomach pouch out drinking fluids. I'm drinking Propel Kiwi-strawberry fitness Water. It has Vitamins and a great flavor plus it boosts you up a bit. I drink hot broth, order from the chinese restaurant won ton and just drink the broth. I measure one cup of it and sip it. If I want more, which at this point not really, I drink more. This is the plan for three weeks. I did read where some folks just got banded and didn't need a fill for months. It would reason that having the band would give you SOME restriction because it did create a new pouch for your stomach. Consume something. Nothing huge and thick like meats, sausages..you know. Best to you.

It's spam. Sorry to take away the thrill for anyone. I've seen it on other posts.

Well we all know from experience what she did wrong. I think this doctor is sadly exploiting this still very obese woman. How sad for her. She has someone with her who is echoing true sentiments "your fault"..and so forth. We all know what it takes to make the weight loss happen with the band. Obviously she failed to have proper restriction and follow the theory that this is a tool not a magic pill to weight loss. Another fat person exploited for corporate gain. How sad for her.

I'm three days out of the gate and right now it's Propel Fitness water. I did have coffee yesterday half coffee half ice. My meals consist of various soup broths.

Watch it end to end. She admits to still eating chips, ice cream... Repost after you have the other surgery and let's see how well you do.

Hey Ohio. I love the lighthouse in the background with the floral in it. Where did you get it? I collect lighthouses. Best to you in May. I was banded three days ago. Feeling great.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Lap_dancer replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Glad to help. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Select across from the surgical center. Great beds. You can get a suite for $89 and mention Dr. Kirshenbaum's name and that you are in for surgery to get that price. I had a bad case of cotton mouth after surgery. All I wanted was water. My husband bought me some Haul's lozenges which I sucked, did not crunch and swallow. What an answered prayer. The hotel also has small coffee machines in your room. I made a pot and mixed half ice. The warm coffee was so soothing. I'm otherwise feeling great. Stomach is sore but I'll be ready to go back to work Monday. Any questions give me a shout. -
Oh no! I have bronchitis! Terrified of slipping my band due to coughing!
Lap_dancer replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a tad case of bronchitis right now. I'm taking antibiotics and also sucking on Haul's lozenges with euchalyptis. It helps. Go to your MD and get on something to treat the cough.
