    What Do You Call This?

    >>I thought if I chewed it to paste I would be fine. Guess who was wrong? I won't be doing turkey again for some time. I had my mushy sweet potatoes and cheese and that went down fine. Wheetsin:It's not a PB if you make yourself sick, is it? And FWIW, I've *never* had a PB do anything like that. Were you able to breathe throughout the entire thing? Any pain to speak of? Did anything come up? >>yeah, turkey, slimey turkey bits. But I was fine after that. Pain while I was doing the cat hack thing, yeah. I could breath but it felt like my stomach couldn't as in expanding and contracting my diaphram was not an option. Wasabubblebutt: Wow... sounds *really* early to be eating turkey. You likely still have swelling. Be sure to go back to liquids for a day or two to relieve the additional swelling. >>I think I pushed it. I have been swollen, like a MUFFIN TOP? Tender and I think it's because I tried to do too much too soon. I got really sick yesterday. Not just last night but during the afternoon.

    Courtney Love has the band??

Courtney Love's crash diet Courtney Love has lost an incredible 45 pounds in just four months. The former Hole singer showed off her new svelte figure in a tiny string bikini when she took a dip in the pool at Hawaiian holiday resort Kea Lani this week. A source told Us Weekly magazine: "She starting losing weight in December when she began drinking diet shakes and sticking to a strict healthy eating regime. "She has cut out carbs and is eating fish, steamed vegetables and doing lots of yoga. "She's feeling like a different person. Her goal is to lose 55 pounds altogether."

    Courtney Love has the band??

I love Courtney. I love what she said about the music industry. I loved her transformation in The People vs. Larry Flynt. Anyway! In Hollywood it is suppose to be all natural these things you do to make yourself stunning. But everyone knows about veneers, botox, peels, plastic surgery and all the other stuff. You know if she came out she had it done there would be all these questions and then she'd clumped with Carnie Wilson. I don't think she wants that for her image. Celebrities barely have any privacy anyway so who can blame her for denying it. She looks hot though. Seen any late photos of her? Francis Bean looks SO much like Kurt.

    My port is flipped already!!

I think so. I bought surgical tape to place over it and that scar cream. That helped and it's only been one day. Thanks for replying. Now I don't feel so paranoid.

    What Do You Call This?

THAT was a PB? Oh gads. I think the turkey was too dry and also that I ate the third bite too quickly. Thanks so much. I feel educated now.

    Who Drinks soda?

Thanks wasabubblebutt. I got a great big visual on that one. I will be passing on sodas.
  7. Super and Lisah great answers. Tami I was not ready for a gastric bypass. Cutting my organs was more than I was prepared to do. I was content to be fat. Then the next two years brought a diagnosis of diabetes and sleep apnea. Regulating the diabetes medication was hell. After two years I was ready mentally for something. Then the Lap Band started being advertised. I researched it to the nth degree. I so the low risks, the quick recovery period and best of all, quick weight loss with lasting results. I encourage you to stay true to your heart. Your family does not live in your body. They do not pay your bills nor do they work your job. (Dynomini on here is a great strong woman who has posted some motivating thoughts) You do whatever you feel is right for you. As for me, the band was the right thing. I'm losing weight about 7 pounds a week. I'm 15 days post op. I am so happy and HOPEFUL. I have HOPE for the first time in a very long time. I want to run again.

    My port is flipped already!!

Thank you for this angelnurse. It explains what Dr. Kirshenbaum meant when he told my husband " I got every last stitch" despite my very flat and wide liver.

    My port is flipped already!!

Wow. I'm reading all of your posts with fascination and fear. What did it feel like to have it flipped? Could you tell? Or did you suddenly find out it was flipped when you went in for a fill? Folks I have a dimpled scar in the side of my rib cage. It's like a scar with a kernel of corn under it. It's very sensative. One of the lap scars. Is this where the port is? I put First Aid adhesive pads on two of my scars.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

I can't speak for a Mormon person not being one. I can tell you the foundation for their church is not what I would call my cup of tea. I know the person they believe to be a prophet was Joseph Smith and he was the foundation for the religion. He was something like 14 years old at the time. He "found" gold tablets in the woods. I can't get mad at people who believe in a religion. I can get upset at someone for altering historical documents to suit their need. I do know the Mormons have a HUGE archive of geneology and they require when you convert that you begin your family geneology at some point. Documenting history is wonderful but I wonder WHO is allowing someone to alter their heir's religion???? Just because THEY change it doesn't make it so.

Lesbians more likely to be obese

**Homosexual behavior. My daughter's dog (male) is about a year old. He tries and tries to mount the other male dog we have in our house. It's to the point where I'm questioning his makeup.

Lesbians more likely to be obese

You know you brought something up here that is cause to think. It's not something anyone likes to talk about but but the abuse thing is one thing and to feel safer with women, yeah, I've heard that. But you know I work at a middle school and one week a girl will be a lesbian, the next week she's straight. It's like it's a fad but I really think it's more for attention. You know, let's see how extreme I can be. My daughter had a friend back in elementary school who looked like a boy, acted like a boy. I swore she would grow up and be gay. She didn't. She is in the military and got married a few months ago. Another friend of my daughters was a young boy she was sweet on in 7th grade. He LOVED to dress up, loved his white jeans. We would drive them to the movies because he lived far out from town and his family wouldn't drive him anywhere. He graduated high school with top honors, moved in with my daughter's girlfriend and then came out a few years after high school. Back on topic, I also think if your circle of influence tends to be obese, you hang with who you are most comfortable with.
  16. Wow. I don't know what size I have. Hmmm. Better call and ask. I stayed home from work. Pain in the left side. I had a pretty BIG dinner if you can call two tamales a big dinner. I have pushed myself to work my regular pace and arrived home to crash and sleep. Today was my third straight day to work but woke up with my left side hurting. Hurt to stand up. Called in sick. Never went back to bed but laid in bed and watched a movie, checked emails and then decide maybe maybe maybe the problem was to do with my constitution. I made some Gevalia (love this coffee), took some nice stemware, iced it and poured the coffee over it. One hour later....vavoom. So quick I didn't quite make it in time but the morning shower and coconut body shampoo felt good and smells great. I feel several pounds lighter. Glad I stayed home! My sniffer is still in check!

Lesbians more likely to be obese

sleepyjean love your avatar. Nice retro girl there. ....................... Well the research is published in a respected publication, the study was done at Boston U. It says they looked at data collected, not sure where or who collected it to get the conclusion. My niece and her partner are a family with my nephew Edison being born a few months ago!! My niece was freaking out because her belly was so big. She is a health nut. Very fit, very into organtic eating as well as her partner. They are professional women who have done substantial studies on bad foods and kids. I think we live in a time when people in general are overweight. So with that in mind, perhaps that is why the study reveals obesity at the rate it does. The flip side to this is a friend of mine told me that she feels more comfortable with her body as is around women, gay women. She is overweight.
  18. Sunta Water weight gain can fluctuate as much as five pounds. If you don't want a fill than you should get one. Follow your heart and stay on it the way you feel is working best for you. I know sometimes one gets the feeling that at some point a balance is met and you can do this.

    Water!

I can guide you to the internet where you can search water + diet and find loads of articles on the importance of water. I just read that most Americans are dehydrated! But to answer your question, I have long known that you can lose more weight when you drink sufficient amounts of water as needed for health. The back of my water bottle reads "hydrates and nourishes your active body..which aid in energy metabolism as part of a daily diet." Digestion is aided by water. Water plumps the skin to make it dewey in appearance, it is also good for the hair aiding in oil distribution for a shinier healthier look.

    Food Crazies!

I can only offer this. I followed by diet presurgery because as you can see by my BMI I'm a big gal. Big gal means big liver. Your liver can get so large it makes the surgery difficult if not impossible to perform. So I encourage you to try and stay away from FAT because FATTY LIVER is not a good thing. As it was, I had FLAT liver. That was a liver that was big, deflated and flat but still wide. It added two hours to my sugery time. Stick to the plan.

    Port site infection

I didn't see your post Scarlett. Sorry you got no responses. My doctor, Dr. Kirshenbaum, put me on a run of antibiotics for ten days. I was glad he did. I had a persistant cough that Hall's lozengez seemed to help but after four days I was really fine. I think had he not done that perhaps I might have gone into something deeper. I had no skin infections. Nothing with my port. I continued to use the cleanser that escapes me right now...Hibeclens I think is the name. It creates a protective barriar on the skin. I was told to use it three days before surgery. Anything green or oozing would send me to the doctor.
  24. You know I crushed mine until I just got tired of it and swallowed one. I waited the usual 30 minutes and nothing. So guess who stopped crushing pills? I just take them with my Water, one sip to slip the pipe, down they go with another.
