Adding this to cut from home. I'm a Star Wars geek. STAR WARS™: THE LEGACY REVEALED On The History Channel® World Premiere Monday, May 28, at 9pm ET/PT Thirty years ago, an unheralded film known as Star Wars opened in theaters and took audiences on a groundbreaking journey to a galaxy far, far away. It instantly seized the public’s imagination, and three decades later still claims that grasp. Now, a new special from The History Channel seeks to understand why the emotional impact of the Star Wars Saga remains as relevant as ever. The two-hour special, STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED, is a World Premiere on The History Channel on Monday, May 28 at 9pm ET/PT. Through interviews with politicians, academics, journalists and critics – all of whom weigh in on the enduring appeal of George Lucas’s creations – the special demonstrates that Star Wars isn’t just a high-action adventure in space. It’s a remarkably complex and sophisticated story about power, politics, sin, spirituality and redemption—almost Shakespearean in its power, humor, presentation and influence. The special makes the argument that Star Wars’ intensely compelling stories—borrowed from diverse traditions, from Greek mythology and American westerns to the Bible and even Vaudeville—compel us to explore some of the biggest questions of our time. STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED explores that view through interviews with politicians, academics, journalists and critics, who all weigh in on the creations of George Lucas. The special shows how seldom a movie can make us laugh and think about our role in the universe—which may be why it has stood the test of time. “The enduring appeal of Star Wars,” says Tom Brokaw, “is that it’s this vastly entertaining piece of cinema that also leaves you … with the idea that there are some real issues out there that we ought to be thinking about—good and evil, and right and wrong, and heroism. Generations of people a long time from now will be enthralled by it, just as we are enthralled by the story of Robin Hood or King Arthur’s Court or any of the Shakespearean tales.” The special unites a diverse group of high-profile Star Wars fans, from filmmakers to politicians to journalists. Their comments punctuate the still jaw-dropping footage from all six episodes of the Star Wars Saga. “The idea of the underdog who’s on the right side defeating the overdog who’s on the wrong side is a deeply American mythology,” says former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who climbed a high political fence to agree with current Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the movies’ impact. Says Pelosi: “The legacy of George Lucas fits very comfortably among the classics of all time, whether ancient or modern. “ Adds Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson: “You don’t even have to ask, ‘Will it stand the test of time?’ It has and it will.” This action-adventure film with lighthearted moments and touching purity, demands that we focus on current fundamental themes, including environmentalism, racism and the temptations of power and greed. As author Carl Silvio notes, at times the movies seem prophetic: “In Revenge of the Sith, when we hear Anakin say, ‘You’re either with me or against me,’ it’s almost impossible not to hear that quote and think of another very famous quote,” a point the special underscores with a clip of President George W. Bush’s November 2001 news-conference quote: “You are either with us or you are against us in the fight against terror.” The dichotomies of good vs. evil and mechanism vs. humanity is apparent throughout the movies, which carry themes of politics and power. In the Star Wars universe, dictators are ruthless yet charismatic, and while some politicians are well-meaning, as Princess Leia Organa demonstrates, leaders are born from courage and conviction, not from gender. With regard to other kinds of power, C-3PO and R2-D2 demonstrate that machines can be beneficial, while the feared Death Star shows us their danger. The Ewoks, instrumental in the eventual defeat of the Empire, remind us that natural, environmental solutions have as much as (or more) power than man-made ones. That the movies are fun only gives their central questions and observations more credence How long will that endure? “A hundred years from now,” says Joan Breton Connelly, an associate professor of fine arts at New York University, “someone will be sitting here discussing the impact of Star Wars and they will be seeing different things in it than we are seeing today, just as today we have classes in the university on Homer.” Filmmaker Kevin Smith: “It is bad guys versus good guys and everyone wants to see that story. That story will never grow tired, never grow old.” STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED is produced by Prometheus Entertainment in association with Lucasfilm Ltd. Executive Producer is Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Burns (Empire of Dreams, Look, Up in the Sky!). Executive Producer for The History Channel is Beth Dietrich Segarra. The History Channel® is one of the leading cable television networks featuring compelling original, non-fiction specials and series that bring history to life in a powerful and entertaining manner across multiple platforms. I heard six weeks because there is a spa/gym that I use to go to and I mostly swam there. Maybe it depends also on the rate your sites are healing. -
Hi BrendaKay. I'm west of you by about an hour and a half. Live in West Pasco County. Patty

Hello all: I live near Tampa but went to Colorado to Dr. Kirshenbaum. I am a self pay and his price was great. We were banded only a few weeks apart. I just started eating what I consider solid foods this past week. (chicken, shrimp) Are you getting enough Protein? My doctor recommended 60 grams of protein a day. He did not advocate a brand but suggested Protein shakes to supplement my diet to make sure I was getting enough protein. Keep searching this forum, use the jump thread option at the bottom of the page on the home page for Lap Band Talk. You will find all of the topics there and can find everything from discussions on weight loss to diets, excercise and problems people face. You will find a wealth of information there. I hang out in 'Considering Dr. Kirshenbaums' thread, April bandsters "Violets" and there is so much information in there I too feel so lucky to have found this website. The people are friendly and generous in their offer to help and share their experience. Teachlady thanks for the nutrionist info. Right now I am focusing on protein and fluids. I think the rest will come with time. To all you excercising...Congratulations and great job. I have no doubt you will find yourselves fit and healthy and strong sooner than later. Personal trainer? THAT is dedication. To commit for a year is awesome. Jenn the amount you are consuming sounds like where I was at a few weeks ago. I went to my favorite fish place last night and ate 9 pieces of Gulf shrimp which surprised me. Mind you they were Gulf so they were small but still. Sometimes I get scared I'll go back to eating more like every diet I've ever been on. Like a nightmare. Violets you have a wonderful day. Mal, sending a hello to you. Michelle, hope all is well with you. -
I had some minor port pain that was stabbing but it happened mostly when I laid on my left side a lot ( a lot being I slept on it and reclined on it ). I wasn't quite beyond a week of surgery when this happened. Once I switched sides for a few nights and consciously avoided my left side, the pain eased up.

Anita let me know how your counseling is going. I can't afford the one I wish to go to now but I do need to get back into counseling. You are doing great on the weightloss. Congrats! Mal~ I love your spirit girl! It would be great to meet you and so many of these other awesome people. Michelle~ Two year process, yes. I'm so focused on today that I'm worried I'll slip like so many times before. I need to remember that two years. -

Tina I'm only sorry I didn't get to post here when you were closer to your post surgery days. The patch that is used for nausea during transportation helped tremendously as I too was nauseated. I'm glad you are doing well. You sound great! -

Her job is to make him money. So call the office and ask the doctor to call you back. Don't tell them anything other than you would like to speak to the anesthesologist. These folks that run the offices can be NOSEY. Negotiate the bill with him. He can do the math and that you 'ran over' is proven how? I ran over by two hours and my bill was the same. Three days in a row working and will surely make the whole week. Three weeks post op coming up on 30 pounds. The smell of smoke. Anyone here have close friends who are musicians? Yeah. I would LOVE to go out and support my pals but to tell you the truth the stench of the bars send me to the moon. It would be the same as if someone could fart and had a farting PERMITTED rule in their establishment.

I understand what you are trying to say here but removing fat people from society would not be a reasonable nor realistic means to an end. This is how I look at clean air acts. If a person chooses to light up, it truly is their choice like it is mine to eat Krispy Kreme donut with the creamy white filling. The problem with the logic that "it's only harming them" is that it doesn't just harm the person smoking. Children who grow up in a home where someone smokes have a greater risk for a respitory disease. People who do not smoke but live with a smoker die sooner. "Even for those who have never used tobacco, regular exposure to secondhand smoke in the home can have an impact on mortality, according to study results published through the British Medical Journal's Online First Internet feature." http://www.ada.org/prof/resources/pubs/adanews/adanewsarticle.asp?articleid=814 This article is from 2004, there are so many articles to support this. So for this effort, a person truly cannot say that it only effects THEM if they smoke. The smoke permeates the enivoronment and contacts others in that environment with negative effects.

I can recommend brands of things that taste good. Cozy Shack chocolate pudding tastes as rich as a brownie. No Fat. Carryout Soups seem better than canned. I love french onion soup minus the cheese and bread. Mango juice is really good chilled and mixed with Krystle Lite peach tea. Focus on staying hydrated right now. Good luck.

YUP, that would be me.What I eat now compared to what I would be eating...holy cow. No wonder I've lost 25 pounds. I get onto myself for having a 70 calorie Gerber cereal bar and five of them all day but I remember not just a month ago that whole box would have been gone in under an hour. -

Anita I haven't had my first fill and frankly I think I'm going to wait. I'm losing weight at a steady pace and doing fine but I too am scared. I learned a lesson with the cat hack think that happened but I still feel I swallow to fast at times. -

Michelle that is a decent loss. Better down than UP! Tracy you look great. I love that little photo meter you have running. Lauraj congrats on getting off the 311-314 and hitting a milestone. That always feels so good. Jane I drink Propel water and it is vitamin enriched. Has Calcium, Niacin, B6,and B12. Strawberry Kiwi is my favorite flavor. The Gerber Graduates are working fine for me. Baby food for toddlers. One of the toddler meals is filling. I find myself hungry at times and today seems to be a day when I am really hungry. I think it goes back to protein working best for me. I had Gerber Graduate cereal bars (about the size of a Twix) with 70 calories. They did not stick to my ribs at all. I won't buy those again has throughout the day I ate five. That would be 350 calories and hardly any protein. No wonder I am hungry. -
Karen my best to you. Whatever your outcome I wish it to be healthy and also wellness to your husband.
-
I didn't want to assume I would get no infection from my sites so I use Hibiclens Antiseptic skin cleanser and keep my wounds covered with the square and clear bandages.

It says a lot about you Laurend that you would go public and apologize like that. A bold person and humbled as well. The rep. option is something I think should be removed anyway. I'm glad it was decided to remove it. I Admin. another Vbulletin website and the rep. comments are a pain in the butt. People actually track their number like counting signatures in their high school yearbook. It's tough enough to moderate threads that are serious and then someone goes and reports a negative rep. "I didn't deserve this". Be proud that you are mature enough and strong enough in yourself that you did this on your end. ( I would pos. rep you for it if I could)

I was banded April 17. I had a breezy recovery in Parker, CO, flew home and all was good. Starting about the time I tried to go back to work (that's telling) I started getting swelling. This morning I am nauseated as so for some days. I get a "muffin top" that goes down with fasting and REST. I've lost 25 pounds.

ACK! This was funny but squid? ACK!:guess My mother and father were both southern born and bred. They had catfish fries where everyone and their third cousin came to our house. The smell of catfish cooking drove me to my room where I burned cherry incense. ......................................................................................... Alexandra I wish you the best. Keep on doing whatever you need to do. What fits one may not fit the other. ..............

The unpizza. My son works at a pizzeria. He makes for me a pizza that has a crust so thin it is more like a cracker. On this he puts parmesan cheese followed by mushrooms and bacon pieces. On this he puts mozerella cheese. He bakes it well done and sops off the bacon grease. This has been like a supersonic power bar for me. Going down easy, chews up fabulously and I can save the leftovers for breakfast ( I love cold pizza) if they have left me with leftovers. -

Hello Michelle! My eating plan had only deviated a few times, most noteably when I cat hacked. I sip my Propell water all day so that by the end of the day I have consumed 10 glasses of water or 80 oz. of water. I think this is why I am losing weight at a steady clip because water flushes my system well. Breakfast is protein in the form of a shake, lunch is protein in the form of a shake, afternoon drive home booster is also a shake and a high protein dinner in the form of baby food, cheese, soft soft soft overcooked chicken...about 2 oz. I supplement with whey protein powder, chocolate, in coffee with ice to make a latte that doesn't taste like my old lattes' but is close enough. I lost quite a bit of weight once on the Adkins diet so some of this is old hat to me. A good fit. Anyone else feeling ease on their joints? Decrease in back pain? This is where I am putting my focus. My health. How is everyone else doing today? Have a good weekend so far? -

Michelle you are so sweet. What a great thought. Hey everyone! I've been vegetating a bit the past few days. Going to try to go for a full week at work tomorrow so chillin'. I wish I could meet you all at Dr. K's meeting. That would be fantastic. Maybe some day! I hit 25 pounds off today! It feels good. -
I love original artists. How are you feeling? Everything going okay?
