Mal!! You did it!! So sorry I missed your post on the other page. Congratulations! Welcome to The Band. What an awesome feeling. Try lots of different soups now and drink the broth. I didn't have luck with cream soups so I don't recommend them. Now is the time you can be lazy! Way to go!!! -

Do you find its physically easier to eat garbage?
Lap_dancer replied to roxy123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My son brought home my cracker thin crust pizza that he makes for me. This one had 8 pieces. I ate the cheese, bacon and mushrooms and threw the rest to the dog. It bothers me beyond words that I ate what I consider a whole pizza. Even though the dog got most of the crust and half of some pieces. -
Laure I heard a similar story from my doctor. How sad for her.

Eating a protein bar is as close as I can get to candy. Addiction, yes! I've known this for years. I have a seriously food problem with sweets and most especially carbs.

Wedding bells and pellet guns: I'm ready to shoot my daughter the bride-to-be
Lap_dancer replied to Lap_dancer's topic in The Lounge
I'm going to embrace this for the reception. Since her father and I are shelling out the dough for the reception food and ambiance of a nice place to sit, lovely table to dine at, his side of the family can cover the booze since we aren't drinkers in my family. Carlene* the money offer sounds great but I got no response when I gave her the offer. (of course, why invite a headache when mom and dad will do it for her) Mari* I would be freaking out if I hadn't heard from the wedding planner to confirm. To my credit I am great with big events and love love love a good party. It's my daughter's wishy washy vagueness that makes me want to chew chalk. ~~5 jacks what a cool story!!! ( and because I no longer fear eating the cakes I practice on I am taking up cake decorating and just got my first set of 53 tips and bags ) **I anticipate the trappings, like a cruise, of unexpected costs that come hidden in a lovely packaging with a great description. My daughter's dress is a designer dress. Unless it is actually handmade by the designer, I cannot see paying thousands for a gown. I went on ebay and went on the Chinese ebay site. It translates to English. I looked up gowns and got a hit. I found a seller who does ball gowns and wedding gowns. My daughter found her dream dress and won the auction at $299. That's about par. The dress is amazing. The silk is pristine. David's Bridal gets their dresses from the same place and you pay for the David's Bridal service. Meanwhile...we are still working on a reception. I think I will leave it to my future son in law, my hubby and myself. My daughter is giving me gray hair. -

It's just about double what I have eaten a day since banded. But I'm still very pissed at myself.I keep trying to listen to myself and say it was just ONE day, just ONE day ..I don't feel so alone now. Last night I ate three chicken tenders, a baked potato and a few bites of salad. Late last night I ate a protein bar. I continue to sip water. So my choices in food are far better than they use to be, and like you the amount of food consumed is nothing like it use to be. I'm feeling really guilty right now. Up five pounds! But I do believe it is PMS weight gain and I didn't take my water pill yesterday..but still! -
I think many people secretly feel this way. They just get pushed into a corner and become intimidated, and come out swinging hardline.

I have a channel set wedding ring. I need that real deal on my wedding finger but that's just me. I like CZ's for cocktail jewelry but I seldom wear that. I love gold. The gems gotta be real.

Girls I've gained five pounds. I have very little restriction. ahhhhhh. June 7th cannot get here soon enough. To the ones excercising! BRAVO! My joints (feet) bloody kill me after five minutes. Chica have fun in Chicago!!!!!!!!!! And to the lovelorn who can't get a proposal out of their sweethearts. From the mama in me. What is motivating your boyfriends to marry you? If you are giving them everything a wife would give for free there's no reason to marry! My daughter's fiancee wanted her to move to be near his base about three hours from here. At first she was tempted so they could "get to spend more time together and know eachother a little better" but after careful thought she told me, " I would be giving up everything I have here to be near him and he would be giving up what?" Nothing. She said no. A few months later falling more in love with eachother he firmly told her "you are what I want and I don't want to lose you". They are getting married Feb. 2. BUT read my pellets and rice thread on the wedding plans. AHHHHHHHHHH! -
Yup! I second this. Call this person back up and say this: " I spoke to you last week and you informed me it would be 30 days until I got my denial letter. I was told by someone who has the same insurance they got their denial letter within a week. Be Agreeable: I understand that you probably have other insurees but I am basically waiting on my surgery as a result of this hold up. My doctor has a wait list as well. I'd like to speak to your supervisor to expedite this" Write down the name, date, time and what was said. Go up that chain of command! Have a fax number ready for them to fax it to you. Trust me when I tell you that they have templates of these letters in their computer and it's a matter of adding your name and address and your doctor's name. Feel free to give them that info. Lock them into a day when you can receive it. "So I can expect the fax by tomorrow at 3:00PM and if I don't get it something has happened and I call you back to let you know it didn't come through". Be firm, be polite, be informed. Don't lose your cool, don't raise your voice. Don't get mad, get what you want.

You are such an awesome woman! Screw your family. I think you should go for it. With that much care and love in your heart, I think you will end up feeling that mom thing towards the other kids. I think your son will have a greater sense of identity. That he has more family?!! Heck yeah! Go for it! Have fun too. -
I do eat cheese but it is done minimally. Milk I limit to 1 cup on occasion. I seem a bit lactose interant now. Yogurt is fine though. Pudding as well. But I go easy on portions.

Rubylyn congratulations on getting the band! I sleep on my side but that shifted when I got that band. It was a bit tender. So I rolled over to the other side. Slept like a charm.

I would love to meet with you all in June. I'm staying in Parker at the Holiday Inn Select across from the hospital. Appt. with Dr. K is on the 7th. I'm starting to feel hungry again. Not eating as much but whoa! -
Bubble these are AWESOME but I make them myself. All I do is take parm. cheese and nuke it in the micro. It melts and get golden bubbly on the edges. Take it out and let it cool. It will pull up off the plate because the fat cooks out of it. Hot for chewy, cool for crunchy.

Wedding bells and pellet guns: I'm ready to shoot my daughter the bride-to-be
Lap_dancer replied to Lap_dancer's topic in The Lounge
Yesterday I threw my hands up in the air and per hubby, went into my room, shut the door and took a medicated nap to ease my head. Next thing I know there is a clammer at the door, she is standing there with her cell phone thrust in my face, "Talk to Shawn" she says. He wants to tell me about the wedding. I tell her I'm sleeping, she tells him, he tells her to tell me it will only take a minute. So he gets on the phone and in his firm and calming voice, relays that he has more and in effect calmed my daughter down and they are going for a new date that isn't near Lent and he finally called the rest of his family and told them officially he has the ring, the wedding is a go, the date and that he wants the family church on his father's side, can they help organize that. Yahoo for putting things on others and spreading the wealth of responsibility. It's not that I mind all the hullaballoo, my son's grad party was huge. We had two white tents, a live band, and this huge buffet that was stocked with cold and hot and I even had a chocolate table. My favorite item was the antique dresser I carted in the room and put carafes of coffee and whipped cream, sprinkles, cinnamon and creamers. That was one awesome party. My daughter and I worked on her Homecoming Committee and I was the Parent Sponsor. The theme was "Enchantment Under the Sea". Organizing a huge event with hundreds coming isn't the problem. Locking in facilities is the source of my angst and people who are slow to respond make me combust, especially when others expect a good time. I know my ego is coming into play. My husband and I always offer a grand time for our friends and their children. One year we had a hayride and I projected a movie on one end of the area with hay bails and logs to sit on. I played "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" ...anyone remember that Don Knotts movie? So on this event which is one of the most important events we can host, I want to see this bring joy to my daughter and future son-in-law, their family/his family and all the friends who are invited. It should be a day not soon forgotten. The last thing I want to feel is "oh I'm so glad that is over". -

Anita thanks for letting me know what to expect. Sitting up with a needle out of me. Okay. I'm ready for that fill. I guess some of us are starting to feel hungry again. Angie your story was funny and upbeat. I have to remember when I could eat four or five pieces of pizza rather than one. Then all the other thing with it. I'll be in Denver June 6th and seeing Dr. K on June 7th at 11:45. -
Wedding bells and pellet guns: I'm ready to shoot my daughter the bride-to-be
Lap_dancer replied to Lap_dancer's topic in The Lounge

Thank you ALL for the encouragement and for letting me feel like I'm not a selfish mom in wanting some advance notice.

My husband and I are shelling out thousands but she is our only daughter and she graduated college which was our number one request, finish college. But she is a prima donna, the first grandchild of my in-laws that came along after fourteen years, you can imagine how they spoiled her. I don't want to make her sound like she is a horrible Bridezilla, she's nothing like those witches who scream at their betroths in front of the camera. No she is just flippant about things that should be concrete.

I think this will be a live and learn for her. I've told her again and again YOU GOTTA BOOK THE CHURCH, GOTTA BOOK THE HALL. We shall see.

OMG the groom who changed his mind and called from the airport????

(someone pass me a shotgun)

I don't expect any drama. My daughter had a longtime relationship with her ex-boyfriend the musician. Let me tell ya, if I can survive that I can survive anything. He is WICKED talented on guitar/drums and bass and I am mighty proud of him and what he has achieved (toured Europe) but the girls?!! OMG!!! Let's just say I would need a lot more than strings and frets to rock my world, not so with others. Turmoil and angst ruled the day with them. Needless to say, when her current love came along, he was a breath of fresh air. He is respectful, and EVEN SENT ME A MOTHER'S DAY CARD!

His soothing temperment makes me want to have the best wedding I can pull off.
