  1. Congrats!!! Sounds like you are healing fast. Metamucil is something I add to my Water, just a teaspoon every other day. Rest, read here. JUMP FORUM is at the bottom of the page; Drop the arrow and see all the topics. You can pick any subject and find a thread started.

OT: A memorial to my beloved kitty Marcel

RIP Marcel. What a great pet. (and friend) Marcel looks like the color opposite of my BOO. It sounds like Marcel was a wonderful wonderful companion. Do you have room in your heart for another shelter pet? They so desperately need homes and there is probably another one right now waiting to be given the chance. In my house we have four cats: Boo, Maybelline, Violet and Pentunia. Petunia is Violet's 5 month old who is still nursing because she can't leave the nest (laughs) We have a dog too, ED. Edgar is wonderful. He's been the best dog and has his own spots around the house that are HIS sleeping spots. Great story.

Wow. (super tiny Chinese woman...ha ha..funny) My mother-in-law has been supportive by simply not judging, not asking about emotional things. She's very good at not prying. My husband's family have all been so wonderful. If I was rich I'd take them all on a cruise.

Ladies and Guys I NEED some advice!

Hey, you got a necklace out of it!! I think the first knee jerk reaction is to say "another woman". I wouldn't necessarily say he's a player but on the other hand it sounds like he's kind of stringing things along with you and if he thinks something flashy catches his eye suddenly you need to slow down (but you thought it was a good idea too so maybe he's not so much 'the one' for you). NEXT. That's what I use to tell my daughter when she had boyfriend troubles...NEXT. Be REAL picky about who you date. You are picking the person who is the potential father of your children, life partner with you in sickness and health...be real picky. Best of luck to you.
  6. With a name like "manatee" you must be a Floridian! (smiling) I LOVE your first sentence: "Pain is weakness leaving the body." Thanks for sharing that. ......................................................................... Shannon that you for the link to jazzercise. That looks like something more for me (down the road). FLW- I did situps in my bed last night. I made myself move watching television, breathing deep, focusing on the muscle tightening going on in my stomach and keeping an eye on the clock. So far I am keeping up with my comittment to exercise!

    Parents & Other Relatives

AMEN! ................................................... Your thread (Viredesence) hits a raw nerve with me. You could cut the air when the subject of weight comes up around my sister-mother. They are so much alike it is sister-mother/one unit. All under the guise that they "care about you". Without hijacking this thread and telling about my experience I would only advise you to save yourself the hurt and do NOT tell them. If they can't support you as fat, how on earth could we ever expect them to support us in any other way? Gain your strength from this place where so many know your story, walk it, and can let you vent and offer advice...true support. I feel for you. I understand. I have the same situation. Be well. Be strong.
  8. YES! I noticed this yesterday that my shoes were floppy. I am positive I"m down atleast one size in shoes. I'll let you know. ....................................................... DynamoMiniHi All - I hope to see lots of you tonight. Can't wait. I haven't lost a lot more, but people are saying stuff to me, like wow, you look really good, not so much about being thinner, but my general health is soooooooo much better. About the clothing - My big clothes are like bags, when I go from a big bag to a smaller bag, there isn't a great deal of difference. I remember from past diets that I had to get a lot closer to my goal (ugh, takes forever)(within 50 pounds - being a shorty) for the sizes to really start changing. Every 10 -14 pounds dropped for me was another size. I'm getting a lot of the "you're looking good" and "thinner" from several fronts. PEOPLE TAKE BEFORE PICTURES!! Because I wouldn't realize just how much my appearance is changing if I hadn't. Michelle I know what you mean about having to lose quite a lot before changing sizes. I WISH I COULD SEE YOU!! ( and everyone else) Nick...luck with the fill. I love Colorado! Did anyone take pictures last night? Anita and Mal would love to see you girls. Anyone hear from Sunny? How's she doing? More details about RR. Did anyone take pictures? Let me know.
  9. Mal I know where you are coming from. I have to look at the picture taken at Dr. K's office the day before my surgery to really know that I have lost weight. Putting my makeup on in the morning requires less SURFACE AREA...isn't that weird I would notice something like that? But it is true. I have bones in my face that I can see at my jawline. I have to make sure that my makeup is blended there instead of one great big rub that happened to cover my huge hanging chin. That suspenders story is funny. REALLY funny. Did you sneeze or something? >>I remember my mother telling a story about a time when she and my grandmother were walking down the sidewalk window shopping. A lady was walking the other way and they noticed what they thought was her slip falling down. She just stepped out of it and kept going. When they got closer they realized...it was her underwear! hahahahah.:omg:
  10. YES dear. My shoulder felt really weird with pain. I was told that can happen. The breathing part....man, I feel for you. Try liquid Tylenol OR do you have that script from Dr. K for the liquid pain stuff? Hooah! Take that. Go easy on yourself. sleep alot. Sip room temp Water. I drank PROPEL strawberry kiwi water at room temp. I sipped it. I ate french onion Soup, the good stuff from...Bennigans is it? I think so. Hubby left me at the Holiday Inn to sleep and let me tell ya did I sleep. I only got up to pee, take my liquid stuff and go back to bed. I did shower and put on fresh jammies. I sucked that recovery period for every ounce and inch of "easy" I could get. I did not push it at all. Rest friend. It gets sooo much better. Patty

    Is it really worth it?????

YES! YESYESYESYES! ......................... I would not take back the life I use to live if money was added. I can walk and breath. I can stand up and the pain is so much less. I have ENERGY. I have HOPE. RISKS: Anytime you have surgery there is a risk. When you have your wisdom teeth extracted there is a risk. It's just part of the process and to not inform you of risks is irresponsible. But I compare this to driving a car. When you buy a car there are risks. The brakes can go bad, someone could rear-end you, you can run out of gas...YOU are responsible for driving the car carefully and taking care of the breaks and adding the gas. Same with the band. You are responsible for following the lifestyle that having a Lap-Band inside you requires. Don't gulp large amounts of food, don't blender Cookies and ice cream with chocolate syrup and drink it and expect to lose weight. But people do this and then complain they aren't losing weight. Maybe they think because it is liquid it doesn't have calories... but I'm rambling. The band is one of the best things that came into my life. I do not regret EVER having it done. I am a changed person for it and I am changed for the better. You must do what you believe is right for you. Moreso than anything else. You are in charge of your body. Best of luck to you!!

i am staying on plan today because ...

In the ZONE at the sweet spot is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ......................................................................... I am staying on my plan today because I value my health and body and I know I will feel even better with each passing week.

    What's your meal plan?

Beckiet I love hummus now! I don't have a calender to copy and paste but I'll post some of my typical daily intakes: Propel - Strawberry-Kiwi Water, three bottles at 33.3 ounces cheese melted - Parmesan cheese melted in the microwave until in cooks into a solid crispy cracker. Great source of Protein. Dolmades - Greek grape leaves stuffed with herbs, rice and lamb. ARUGALA!!!! Best leaf on the planet! Soups: New England clam chowder, vegetable beef, chicken noodle, Avgolemono (Greek lemon soup), Egg Drop soup, Won Ton soup, French onion (with cheese..yum) Salads!!: Greek with feta cheese (be still my heart), Raspberry Vinegerette and springmix, Anything with KEN'S DRESSINGS!! Bacon, and cheese (no bread) Nathan's hot dogs and mustard (one dog no bread) I eat based on my fullness sensation. If I had say..Cheerios for breakfast and had milk with that I'm full and good til about 1 or 2 when I get home from work. Then I'll have some cheese or a salad and all day I drink my water. No liquids with meals, nothing ice cold (that hurts). SLOW..I eat real slow. I swallow and pause between bites. This is how I avoid PBing. What does PBing feel like? Remember that scene in 'ALIEN' where the alien bursts from the stomach of John Hurt? Yeah. That. dinner depends on how I feel. If I had soup for lunch then I will most likely go for a solid for dinner like shrimp, pork chop, hamburger.

When I hit the 20's, I flew into the living room with fists punching the air shouting "yes! YES!" and he turned his head and stared at me. Didn't crack a smile, raised one eyebrow and says, "What" not WHAT?or what? or WHAT! but (what) :phanvan If I had to live in his world I would be so so ... :notagree Munchkin thanks for the youthful nod my way. Hope to meet you some day. :clap2: GET OUT! I'm on Dr. K's website????? No way. :nervous Be right back>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

WONDERFUL thread. Thank you for starting it. My contribution is some art from Van Gogh:
  19. My son buys CELLMASS in berry blast. He's the gym junky in the house. I personally gagged on the whey powder. I eventually went to Advantage which is available at Walgreens. Tastes just fine in chocolate and also the Gold bars are very good. I supplement my intake with the Protein.
  20. Oh Marcy Thanks for that compliment!!!!!! I feel better than I did at 38 and most people think I'm about 35 (around there). Age has never been an issue with me, I'm like ..whatever I went through this slump the first few weeks of December. People at work, people who are customers of our family business...sending loads of candy and cookies. Chocolate melts! Yeah. But the good thing is my tastebuds have changed. I could care less if I had chocolate..any old chocolate because the cheap stuff tastes like wax but LINDT..oh my my. That stuff makes my toes curl. So I had a bit more of sweets than I should have. The scale stuck. Wouldn't move. Then by Christmas eve. it edged up one pound and by New Year's Day I was up four pounds. *something about facing that scale that has accountability* And I kept my promise to myself I would excercise. I know from Michelle and others on here who have said that excercise is a must to the weight loss. I agree. And I hate to excercise. Anywho... Anyone checked out Dr. K's new page in the tab bar on his website? They've added some stuff there. Check it out ( I started a thread on it) Patty

Hi my name is Jean Jones

Hi Jean Jones, welcome to LapBandTalk. Glad to hear from you down under in Oz. Wow, that's quite a long time to have the band. Congratulations. I'm also happy for you the weight is staying off. Best always Patty
  22. You did lose weight! 13 pounds. That is something. I hope it helps you to know that we all lose at different rates. The band isn't like the bypass where foods goes through like a zipper in your stomach. Are you drinking your Water? Eating all the Protein you should? It will happen. Hang in there.
