  1. Ohhhhh chica I just read where you had a kidney stone...awww God bless ya sweetie. I've got diverticulitis and that sux but I've heard kidney stones ARE like childbirth for men. (which means for women???still pain) Rest easy friend. I imagine you are so tired. Vicodin can slow the pipes so keep up on your water and add some metamucil to it. Shingles do happen on the torso/back. They look a little like poison ivy. If you've had chicken pox, I'm told that virus is connected to shingles and in some, they appear spontaneously or under stress. ........................................ Tiedtobefit: Yeah, I'd stay for the extra 24 hours given that family history. Hope you get a good room with a view!!

Is it normal to vomit water after fill?

Water should have been used throughout the process of your fill. My doctor has me sip while sitting up with the needle still there and adjusts accordingly. If this was done during your fill and water was going down fine you may have something else going on. It is not normal to not be able to drink water. I concur, call your doc in the morning and get in there ASAP.
  3. By Sally Wadyka You walk by your colleague's desk and there's that candy bowl, singing its siren song, You know better, but you just can't resist. Little detours like these can derail the best eating intentions, and the disparity between what Americans want to do and what we actually do is enormous: While 85% percent say that diet and nutrition are important to them, a 2002 report reveals that only 11 percent get the recommended daily allowance of fruits and vegetables (sorry gummy bears don't count.) So whether you're an all-day nibbler or a Breakfast skipper, try these expert strategies to transform the way you eat. "My greatest delight is to take a good bite" - Dylan Thomas, "the Song of the Mischievous Dog" How to eat healthier if… You’re a serious snacker The fallout: You may end up overeating. A healthy snack or two between meals is fine. They can keep blood sugar steady as well as allow you to rack up more servings of fruits and vegetables. “It’s when you snack in place of eating meals that you’re more likely to lose track of how much you’re eating.” Says Tara Gidus, R.D., an Orlando, Florida – based spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. Of course, what you eat matters, too. Typical snack foods (chips, Cookies, pretzels) aren’t that nutritious or satisfying, so it’s easy to overdo them. The Fix: To keep your energy up and hunger at bay, allow yourself two Snacks a day of 100 to 300 calories each. “Rather than a cookie or a candy bar, opt for something that feels like real food—half of a small sandwich, whole-grain crackers with cheese, a handful of nuts, baby carrots with hummus, or yogurt sprinkled with Cereal,” says Gidus. You’re a speed-eater The Fallout: Gulping fod may set you up for stomach troubles (PR: or a spasm of PBing) “you take in excess air, which can lead to bloating.” Says Leslie Bonci, R.D., director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh medical Center. You also might not be chewing well. Saliva begins to break food down, and too little time in the mouth leaves more work for the rest of the digestive track. This may contribute to indigestion, says Ellie Krieger, R.D. host of the Food Network’s healthy Appetite. Finally, speed eating doesn’t give the brain time to catch up to the stomach; it needs atleast 20 minutes to get the message that your stomach is full. A recent study found that women who ate a meal in 30 minutes ate 10% fewer calories compared with those who wolfed one down in barely 10. The Fix: Try to slow down. Avoid finger foods, and instead choose items you have to put on a plate and eat with utensils, such as stir fries and salads. Pause often, and drink Water throughout meals.( PR: in the case of our fellow bandsters do not drink 30 minutes before or after your meal) You eat your way out of a bad mood The Fallout: It may be soothing in the moment, but feeding your fears and frustrations, instead of confronting them, can lead to a cycle of more bad moods as well as steady weight gain. Many people turn to carbohydrates, in particular, which produce tryptophan, a type of amino acid that is used by the brain to manufacture serotonin. When the brain makes more serotonin, your mood improves, but only temporarily, says Judith Wurtman, Ph.D., a coauthor of The Serotonin Power Diet (Rodale Books). The Fix: Stop to think about what’s bothering you before reflectively opening the cupboard. Then try a nonfood mood booster, such as taking a walk, seeing a movie, or calling a friend. If nothing but carbs will do, get the serotonin boost without triggering a binge, says Gidus. Opt for a whole-grain treat so atleast you get more Fiber and less sugar. Healthy rehabilitation ideas: “We started stocking some of the jars in our office with organic fruit instead of candy. So now I grab a plum, an orange…” “Every Sunday night I boil eggs. I eat one every day for breakfast during the week. I can eat it on the go, and it’s a good way to get some protein…” “Whenever I have party leftovers, I send them home with the guests so I can’t binge..”

    Finding the WILL

One Day One hour at a time if need be. With so many online meetings, it's easy to go to a meeting. Much support if you join a LOOP of yahoo group or other ogranization. This habit to break is life altering and almost woven in my DNA. Loads of reading has helped along with therapy.

anyone have to lose more the 200 lbs

I just posted this picture in Dr. Kirshenbaum's thread. When I began this journey, I was pushing 380. Just to SAY that I had over 200 pounds to lose was discouraging. But today, reading this post, I realized... I have LESS than 200 pounds to lose >200 to lose!!!! I have a ways to go but I feel soooo good.

  13. Time for some Maya To Michelle , Dynamo Mini, because you are! by Maya Angelou Pretty women wonder where my secret lies I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size But when I start to tell them They think I'm telling lies. I say It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips The stride of my steps The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally Phenomenal woman That's me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please And to a man The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees Then they swarm around me A hive of honey bees. I say It's the fire in my eyes And the flash of my teeth The swing of my waist And the joy in my feet. I'm a woman Phenomenally Phenomenal woman That's me. Men themselves have wondered What they see in me They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them They say they still can't see. I say It's in the arch of my back The sun of my smile The ride of my breasts The grace of my style. I'm a woman Phenomenally Phenomenal woman That's me. Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say It's in the click of my heels The bend of my hair The palm of my hand The need for my care. 'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally Phenomenal woman That's me.

    Now I'm getting nervous ...

Mine's not infected, never has been. Weighing the options...hmmmm, be continuously fat with high blood pressure, backaches, leg pain, diabetes, limited mobility Or continue to lose weight, have restriction and be able to eat like normal people to my goal weight where I can once again resume a healthy and active lifestyle with a miniscule risk of maybe something going wrong post surgery. It was an easy choice for me.
  18. On eating mushies and 11 days. I used a rule of thumb with my banding. Rule #1 NO vomiting. If I thought anything would cause me to PB or vomit, I would not risk it. I looked at my recovery period like a baby. A baby starts off with milk. It stays with milk because it can't handle food at such a young age. After some time though, it is ready for some Cereal. As unappealing as it may sound, I ate baby food. What worked for me was trying one thing at a time one bite tested at a time. I graduated to Gerber graduates and I think that was at two weeks. Gerber graduates are for toddlers who are not quite ready for adult style food but ready for something a little more solid. I supplemented my diet with Protein in the form of Liquid Protein drink that I sipped. Get that 80 grams in. I didn't feel like losing my hair and that can happen if you don't give your body the nutrients that it needs. My kind of exercising! Someone want to join me??? ((grins))
  19. Hello Friends Happy Tuesday. I'm back to work and have a nice long break here to spend on Lapband. L.A.- Hope you are doing well. If the pain gets to be difficult to sleep, liquid Tylenol does the trick. I also used liquid anti-nausea if the nausea got to be too much to prevent me from sleeping. Rest well. Lukewarm liquids..broths were my salvation especially good beef stock that's used in french onion soup...don't eat the cheese. Purple...love your name as purple is my favorite color. To answer your question about stretching. I suppose if someone were determined to do it, stretching could be done. I personally would not care for the nausea and vomiting that would accompany volumous eating enough to stretch the pouch. Dynamo gave you a good answer. The band IS different from gastric bypass in that we have restriction by the band. If food is restricted as to how much you can eat, it would take some effort to stretch it. Unlike the bypass where the pouch is bypassed, you could still stretch it (as a family member of mine has done so ) *I am beyond grateful for this procedure. It is a perfect fit for me* Woofay~ great to know someone loses like I do. I've accepted this and as long as I'm going down I'm happy. It can HOLD as long as I get that WHOOSH of loss which seems to be my pattern. * * * * I should not complain about exercising when I see your temperatures. Yesterday it was a very cold... 68 degrees. When I read '10' with snow I think treading through volumes of white stuff and seeing your breath..burrrrr. Florida Joke: What do you say when a snowbird tells you ' I like ALL of the seasons so I could never live here all of the time"? Snappy Answer: Floridians love all the seasons too, we just don't have to put up with the sh**ty ones.
  20. I wrote this huge post and lost it to this touchy Toshiba laptop..uuuuurgh. Hello friends I'm here. Better post this in sections. My computer is in for repairs. Needs memory...all those pictures I take. Sheeeees. Mal, thanks for the encouragement with the photos. I love your pictures too. Michelle, you are so loyal to your exercise regime. Well done. Luck with your visit to Dr. K. Anita I have a picture that I will post when my computer is fixed. I am starting to see neck muscles...how about NECK again. My double chin has receded to a point where I can now see more neck than chin and now it is contouring and my bones in my chest are starting to appear. YES, my fill is spot on and holding. Took some adjustment but I am now at a place where I feel superb. Good restriction, no nausea, I've got the swing of swallowing and the rhythm of eating patterns and amounts along with good food choices. I am doing the drop three pounds all at once thing that was going on just after my banding. Like my body holds holds holds than BOOOM and I'm down three or four. Right now it's holding. I'll take these 20's with a smile. All is well. Can't spend as much time on Lapbandtalk right now, work is crazy busy. Love your support. Keep it going. We'll all be healthier month after month. I love this band!
  21. I'm not going to lie, I hate to sweat. I'm so large that moving for a long period of time tends to wear me out BUT TODAY I begin exercising. I'm starting small, 10 minutes my first day, and working my way up to one hour or more of healthy movement. So how do you move? Today I took my 85 pound pitbull for a walk. What did you do? Anyone else need to break the I-hate-to-exercise habit? What are you doing to change? Share your thoughts here. I am driven by the fact that exercise is essential to weightloss. Patty
  22. Checking in friends. Hello gang. Wishing you all focus and direction this week. Work has been crazy busy. I did very well last week with my exercise. Did not complete all four days that I required of myself but I was out there and moving. Love to read about reduced clothing sizes. Everyone have an awesome week. Patty

    Stomach Cramping Normal??

Yes. I cramped for about six weeks. Nothing I doubled over with just a change in body patterns. If you feel like it's too much, call the doctor.

    Eating with Other People

Most of my close pals know I've had the surgery. My problem is I order too much. Consider take home boxes next time. It gives you another meal or a protein nibbler if you are feeling a bit hungry.
