Happy Sunday friends: Today is my daughter's baby shower for little Clara Jean. My daughter is 31 weeks along and we happily await the arrival of this little dish. I got the baby a spindle crib by Jenny Lindt in honey oak along with a changing table and a sea aquatic bouncy chair with cute little sea horses, crabs, and fish dangling (stuffed ones not live ones..hyuk hyuk) Daughter is going back to Texas in ten days. She is birthing in El Paso which means I will be heading out to Texas (flight..car rental) rather than staying here in Florida. Daughter was going to stay here and deliver but her military hubby would have to come here once she went into labor. It was a stretch to hope they would stick to the original plan but I respect their starry eyed hopes and dreams for this first child. Logistically I am not sure I will make the picnic but haven't ruled it out. Frontier flies to Denver then to El Paso. It all depends on Clara Jean. She has given her mommy no problems at all and my daughter is holding her own with no swelling, no morning sickness, just a big bump. My lifestyle is spot on. Restriction is where it should be and the scale showed another drop. My goal now is to focus not on numbers but on longevity and full lifestyle change...a new me. I'm picking up new hobbies to replace the staying at home thing. Summer will be here for me in two weeks...no school!!!! Woo hoo. I've been buying a few new appliances to accomidate my new lifestyle. I've upgraded my tastebuds and got REAL picky about what I will eat or drink. Reading a new book called, " I Never Told Anyone" which I can only take in small doses. I feel like an onion. I am peeling away at body fat, emotional garbage, and even went to the dermotologist to exclude some surface damage from all the years of fun in this lovely Florida sun. New habits...sunscreen that he sells. Nice big straw brimmed hat that is very awesome to wear. Started explorer the surgery centers for lifting my girls. There is a user on here named Boo Boo Kitty ( my cat's name) who just had a lift. She is posting her entire journey on Lapbandtalk. A good read. I figure I am way out the gate from it but never hurts to adjust to what will be. Signing, everyone have an amazing week Patty -

Hello friends: On my way to the gym yesterday I got a call daughter was in the ER with stomach pains. She had been up most of the night, unknown to me, and was very very sick. I went to the ER rather than to the gym. She is fine, the baby is fine, but she is very tired. Her mother in law is at my house staying with her for the day. WHEW! I will definately take photos of my toes for you all. Can do, no problem. Didn't make it to the scale with all the drama yesterday. I'll post back later today. PR -
Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey
Lap_dancer replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hey Boo: I thank you for sharing this with us, pics and all. I am so glad that I took full photos from the beginning. Perhaps the swelling is making everything bulge and pucker, maybe in six weeks time it may go down some. Keep us posted on that. How is the pneumonia? Hopefully resolved. I have to be careful with my lungs (ex-smoker) and going under. I sometimes have respitory difficulites and was told getting up and walking as soon as possible was a positive thing to do. Tell us more about the new procedure on your girls. Why does the doc want to go back in? I also didn't understand the PS rationale for not wanting you to go to the band surgeon. Dr. K, my band doctor, is one to communicate with my Florida doctor. Curious about that. Overall are you feeling more like yourself? You are almost there. Dang, you've gone the distance. I for one am so very proud of you. Way to go! Keep posting your progress with details. It helps. Patty -

Long post today friends: I'll start off by sharing a website I found. This one is called calories per hour. www.caloriesperhour.com Half my battle with being in shape is the ignorance I had about food and eating and STARVING (which isn't in the plan for a good metab. when you read on that website). I recommend these articles: TIPS:Diet and Weight Loss Tips | CaloriesPerHour.com Calculator: Calories Burned, BMI, BMR & RMR Calculator | CaloriesPerHour.com @Marcy- I saw Paula the last time I went to Colorado. Her price was...I'm thinking $75. I don't really remember...maybe $100...call and ask Natalie. I am sooooo glad I did this. I sometimes think that perhaps we all need a "tune-up" after having the band for awhile. I can speak honestly and say that my first year was focusing on breaking some food bondage habits I had. I had no idea I was that addicted to food. Geez. Crazy stuff going on in my head when you can't reach for comfort and shove it in your mouth without hacking. I also use to drink my meals..seriously. Big huge glass filled with sweet tea, no less than three at dinner. Yeah. So breaking old habits, getting use to new ones, dealing with the headwork that goes on with such a big change (for me it was). For anyone experiencing some feelings and emotions that are really challenging, I recommend counseling. Since I had already been to counseling years before, this time I called my insurance and boldly asked for someone to fit my bill...conversation went something like this: "I'm looking for a counselor" "Yes, ma'am and what is your zip code?" "34667" "Okay, that is Hudson?" "Yes, but to be honest, I am less concerned about a provider locally than I am about getting the right person. I'd prefer a female, somewhere between 40 and 60 who deals with addiction." "What type of substance abuse..." "You know that's rather personal and when I say addiction it's all relative" I then got the name of a man through our insurance who told me that through my company I had four free visits. That was really an added bonus. I also recommend Overeaters Anonymous. I joined OA and also joined an online group through YAHOOGroups. Daily helpful things. ............................................................... Sidann: There is a liquid protein 'shot' you can buy online. They ship to your house. The link to this place can be found at Dr. K's website..here they are: Start: www.lapbandrockies.com Nutritional supplements: www.lapbandrockiesstore.com Liquid proteins. I recommend PROFECT liquid protein four for 10.99. It's about 2.35 cents a meal. Not bad considering how many  AMPS of protein you get with one meal. The flavors are great and I mix them with Propel Strawberry Kiwi for a punch flavor. I have started drinking this for breakfast. Always always at room temperature. I have more than once swallowed a cold item and gotten very constricted. I meet my personal trainer to go over goals this week Tuesday. Can I say a goal is to just show-up? (you all know how much I hate exercising but this is a must and I know it is a must) Creating another new habit! We have done BMI, BMR and RMR. This week starts the photos, the tour, the basics and first goals. ROCKIN THE GYM BABY!:sneaky:`:w00t:' I want that hot body, I want tight jeans and thigh high black leather boots and a plunging neckline with a set of 'girls' that whistle Dixie.:leaving: -

hi Deb: Below is a Forum JUMP option for this website. Click on it and the box will open. You will see a host of threads already started on pretty much every topic you are curious about. I suggest having a pen and paper handy or WORD up and copy and paste the things you see that you wanted to learn. Dr. K is, in my opinion, the BEST. I feel so happy to have gotten the band and to have met so many fantastic people in Denver. Best to you. Patty -

Long post today. HELLLLLOOOOO! I'm still kicking here. You all are reading good, better and inbetween. Love to read your updates thanks always for sharing. How to break a plat. Drink 25 grams of protein shots with a bottle of water on your way to work. Midmorning snack is a 20 gram protein bar. By noon the old constitution should be rolling along if you catch my drift. Dinner...eat dinner like you typically would on the plan. Still hungry? Miss the old foods? Keep in mind my number one muncher at Outback was the fries with cheese..hey, protein right? After that, the onion from Chilis...vegetables right? No wonder I got so fat! Check this out from Men's Health: 20. Worst Fast-Food Chicken Meal 19. Worst Drink 18. Worst Supermarket Meal 17. Hi Moe: It's really hard to talk to people who don't have all of the information and only glean some of the information they share. Sure, if someone is determined to gain weight I suppose they can grind anything and eat it. Heard people gain the weight back, does that mean all of the people who have banding gain it back? If so how did they hear that? I imagine some folks on here would show otherwise by their loss....at any rate, I like the thought of finding someone else to assist you along your weight loss journey. Never let anyone steal your dream. My best to you.

Hey Boo! I've been stalking this thread checking to see how you are doing and today thinking of you. I hope you are healing well, surely sore but healing well. I started off having a "deuce" to lose from the very beginning which was 389, I'm at 309 right now. My girls were a 48DDDD and are now a 46DDD. I am so interested to see how your girls turned out and if he could keep you near a D. The diagram of your surgical lines was helpful. Glad they didn't do the vertical line down center. Looking forward to an update from you. -
Insurance Denied Coverage - Doctor Doesn't Take Cash
Lap_dancer replied to leelanau's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Leelanau, the same thing happened to me! I was six months into my pre-op stuff, had my tests all done, stress test, psych eval., sleep apnea only to find I had a clause in my insurance plan that indicated there was no coverage for any type of bariatrics. The sadder thing to me was that ALL treatment was not covered including the opposite condition that I have...bulemia. Can you image? Fortunately, this was a hidden victory. I ended up shopping for surgery, found a doctor I LOVE LOVE LOVE, discovered Denver and parts thereabouts, has a breeze of a surgery at a beautiful facility and made some amazing friends out there. Trust fate. Follow your dream to get this done. Insurance does NOT have the final say in our health. We do have a voice even if we have to pay for it ourselves, even if we have to go to other means to get it done. LUCK  -

Research Diligence
Lap_dancer replied to Joan L. Jankows's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
This is great advice. I can't really add to it. You are lucky to live in Colorado as it is such an amazing state and very beautiful. My doctor's aftercare is part of the package for a small fee and everything you need, nutritionist, fills, ...are there. My doctor hits my port on the first go so the advice on finding a skilled doctor is key. -
Welcome! Go to the FORUM JUMP at the bottom of this page and click. The drop box will open and you can see all the categories. The other option is to SEARCH. I am carb sensative so coming off a carb stoner for me can feel like a withdrawal. I would encourage you to cut the fat from your diet...no skin on chicken, nothing fried, breaded, buttered, and stick with lean meats. If you are feeling weak, amp your diet up with a Protein bar. I love Gold Protein Bars sold at Walgreens. Buy ONE because I bought three and ate all of them. Making time to meditate helps me. Stay away from food situations so you aren't tempted. Drink lots of Water. You want to shrink your liver in preperation for the procedure.
-
Wayoflife I'm hoping by now you see others felt the same way. I can't say that I did but that's only because I fought like a banshee to get insurance to pay...which they didn't...so by the time I was in my hospital gown, and minutes from being rolled in, it was do or die for me. I was dieted to death and still fat. I wish you the best experience and enjoy the journey.

I wish I could say I am one of those who has had it. Since it took me a year go get to the Band, I've started researching the procedures available. I already know my stomach and breasts are a must. It's not even a matter of cosmetics and more of life function. I liken my ever decreasing stomach, which was burdgeoning at at 389, to tag mole. It's there and serving no purpose. The rashes are a daily thing I have to attend to so I don't get a breakout. Best to you NancyJ.
