Night 2 at home and don't feel right
oxy1 replied to amber2604's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with everyone that you should probably call your doctor... but in truth...you will continue to feel lousey for at least a week. I had my greatest issues with the C2 gas they pumped into my stomach. I did take the pain medication at night just before bed and that did help. I had no appetite either and didn't get enough Protein for over a week... but it DOES GET BETTER with time. The time goes by quickly... after 10 days I was ready to go back to work full time. I was banded on 11/15 had my 1st fill on 12/15 and have lost close to 30 pounds since 11/1... only a 100 more to go! lol Take care and good luck. -
I can only speak to my own experience. I had the procedure on 11/15 and the first day home I felt great and then the stomach discomfort started. For me there was considerable gas discomfort. The pain medication did help me sleep and I tol half dosage at night. Walking helped alot. Walk as much as you feel you are able too. I would say after 10 days I felt well enough to go back to work. I am totally pleased with the decision to have the lap band. Just had my first fill 4 days ago and so far I have lost close to 20 pounds since the procedure. How much one loses is all relative, of course. I need to lose another 100 pounds... so the first 20 would of course go quickly. Having lost 100 pounds five years ago, and then putting 125 back on.. I can only say that the fastest way to lost and keep it off is naturally through portion control first of all.. but walking between 30 min and and hour as many days a week as you can and most of all drinking alot of water everyday. If you can get yourself used to drinking at least 60 ounces a day that will really help speed things up, and you will be healthier also.. less colds and more energy. take care!

Hi, I had my surgery on the 15th and it's taken the full time since to really feel better. Having trouble getting enough Protein in, today was the most I had eaten, actually had a couple spoonfuls of yams, and scalloped potatoes. All the other days I've had nothing but Soup and protein drinks. no appetite for anything else. My shoulder and upper left arm are still sore, but I think the majority of the gas is out of me. Just how long does it take to get back to speed 100%? anybody help with this question? I can't wait to feel well enough to get back on the tread mill and do some serious walking. As it is now... I walk around the house as much as possible, but if i go out to the store, after and hour I am really ready to come back home. anyone else have this?

Getting banded on the 15th
oxy1 replied to Strength Beyond Strength's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi I'm getting banded on the 15th also.. .. I also have a lot to lose.. about 125 lbs would put me where I would feel good. I'm a little apprehensive about the post op part though... keep in touch and good luck! -
hi DeeDee, I'm new here also, this is my first post. Having surgery next monday the 15th. I'm kind of jumping into this head first, but willing to make that life changing decision. I've been up and down my whole life, and a few years ago in 2005 I went on 6 wk makeover and lost 100 lbs in about a year. Kept it off for about 3 years and then allowed myself to slide back... but that was the first time I ever really felt thin.. (or almost thin)... I want that feeling back.. it was great... tell me more about you... I'll watch for your post.

I am scheduled for the procedure next Monday the 15th... don't have too much to say at this point. A little apprehensive still about the entire procedure, but I have come to grips with my food addiction and realize that this is probably the only way that I will have any prolonged loss. I am in the Portland, Or area.. anyone else out there closeby? Let me know.
