just how big is the opening
jigglebutt1 replied to christina353's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey BandBuddy! I saw a photo and still cant recall the size. I would guess (without a starter fill as some drs do) its a half dollar? My photos seemed to show the band kinda floating around the stomach for now. That doesnt allow for any swelling though. With swelling not sure. Wow, not a lot of help am I? I am afraid to eat as well so I can relate. I am just going slow and taking tiny bites. What are you eating? So curious because I dont seem to have a lot of ideas. I am picky and have a gag reflex with a lot of things. My dr suggested chicken salad & egg salad pureed. NO WAY. I am not eating pureed meat or baby food-just know I will gag and am avoiding throwing up at all costs! -
How long til you were feeling normal? a little depressed I think
jigglebutt1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded 10/21. Just wondering how long it was before everyone was sitting without discomfort, not so tired, bending over to pick things up, playing with kids. I know it has not been long since my surgery & I am also not sleeping well (even w/meds). I am feeling pretty depressed at times. I miss playing with my daughter. I am very hands on with her usually and just cant do it now as I am too uncomfortable. Feeling sad and would love to hear I ill snap out of this soon. -

Thanks for all the kind words! I really knew being sad was a possibility but it's funny how you are not really ready. 6 weeks just seems so far away to feel normal. It is wha it is so i will tuff it out. Thanks again! -
Pureed vs soft foods
jigglebutt1 replied to christina353's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey band buddy! I was banded 10/21 as well:) My 7 day diet was broth & protien shakes only-i would have loved some oatmeal! I think everyones diets are so different from thier doctors it is hard to know. I am now on a pureed diet and that means anything I dont have to to chew (oatmeal, mashed potato, cream soup no lumps, yogurt). Soft will need some chewing...like mashed beans, super cooked veg, chicken salad) -

jigglebutt1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a feeling of pressure right where my ribs meet over my stomach. Not a terrible pressure and sometimes as moderate as -I juts know somthing is there. Is this just being aware of my band? Gas? I have been sipping on gatorade & broth on and off but cant imagiune I overate w/the little I am taking in. Thanks! -
I will be banded 9:50am tomorrow
jigglebutt1 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no way I will get a minute of sleep tonight! I am really excited but plenty of other thoughts are racing thru my mind. I keep looking at my little girl and wanting to cry imagining this could (remote chance, I know) be my last day with her. I have been really teary all day today. Honestly, that is my only concern. So, if there are any praying people out there who have a spare moment I would really appreciate any prayers! I will post tomorrow. Thanks for everything! -

Well, I am banded! Thanks for all of your prayers! So far there is very little site pain but OH MY the gas pain. I have had other lap surgerys & the gas pain never came close to this. I am just happy 1) i woke up from surgery:) and 2) I fought thru all of the fears and went thru with it. I will post more later, thanks again! -
How long after band can I get my hair done?
jigglebutt1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Silly question, huh? I am not telling anyone about my band (including my anorexic hair dresser who is always giving me advice on how "to get controle of this body") How long until I could get highlights& cut....sit in chair, sit back to have wash etc. Dont want to be in struggling uncomfortably. Thanks! -
How long after band can I get my hair done?
jigglebutt1 replied to jigglebutt1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cant have hair done before surgery. I will be banded 10/21 and my hair dresser books up a month in advance. My hair dresser is what my grandma would cal bat-shit-crazy. Can I say that? BUT- my color has never looked so good! Ha! I had a few bad colors (hair fell out) and I really love what she does. To be honest, nothing she says bothers me even a little. I know she is nutts so most of what she says makes me want to laugh. I read a lot when she is working. Thanks for the input! -
I am having surgery 10/21 and would love to know if anyone else is as well. This is my 3rd time scheduling and the last 2 were cancelled due to illness. NOT THIS TIME! I am feeling lots of emotions but mostly really excited!

Anyone gettiong banded 10/21?
jigglebutt1 replied to jigglebutt1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 1st time I was scheduled I felt like I had multiple personalities I was so all over the place. "This is going to be great..what in the h*&! am I doing...you know you cant do this on your own....why in the h!@* can't I do this on my own?!" Now I am decided and know it is the right thing for me. My only fear (although a big one) is not waking up. Once I wake up I know I can do this. I understand the mixed feelings though. I had my pre-op appt with the surgery center yesterday and have to admit to feeling a little sad. I felt sad that I really was admitting to myself I could not do it on my own. Really admitting it for the last time. So I let that stew a little in my head and moved on. Now I am feeling great thinking of the life ahead of me! I also worry what if I take forever to loose. The reality- I could be down just ? pounds in a year or up. I know I will keep gaining. I am feeling 90% excited and happy and 10% the other stuff. I would love to keep an eye on each other to see how we are doing! -
Is your port noticeable when you reach goal weight?
jigglebutt1 replied to RoxyChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Did you get the low profile port or the standard size? I am getting my band 10/21 and will betting the low profile. I suggested this to my dr and initially the nurse said he doesnt put those in initially. I really had to push. She eventually said customers ususally change them out during tummy tucks once they are at goal . If you didnt get the low port you can always have it changed at a later date. -
So glad you are feeling good!

throwing up in public
jigglebutt1 replied to guadalajaralap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great post! (band on 10/21) I never thought about not ordering a drink when eating out! Interesting. I dont usually drink while eating actually so that wont be hard for me but I order one when out just cuz it's the norm. Also good to know to scout out the bathroom! All good things to think about as I am not telling anyone about band. -
Officially banded!!
jigglebutt1 replied to tabatha lynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Just Can't Drink these Shakes!
jigglebutt1 replied to Angel76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you all tried Isopure water? I wont say it's good but will say it is better than shakes! Or at least a break from the shakes. They have 45 gams of protein per bottle. Lots of fruit flavors...punch, grape, peach, even orange cream soda. Some people put it in a blender 2/ice and say it tastes like a slurpee-havent tried that yet. -

I love seeing what everyone has to say on this low bmi board. I am getting my band 10/21 (was resched twice) and cant wait! I would love to follow you all and keep up with how you are doing. My bmi is 31..has been 32 before. -
Do you kinda wonder about the Band for losing only 60 lbs?
jigglebutt1 replied to kab1278's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a bmi of 31..have hit 32 before. Due to pcos and my issues I can tell you I have to feel hungry all the time & be on a diet ALL THE TIME to stay at this weight. So I suffer to still be fat. My feeling is why should I be miserable waiting for the weight to finally get to 100lbs to loose. My weight has slowly creeped up so I know it will happen but I dont want to suffer thru it. I know you didnt ask in a negative way but there has been a lot of negative reaction to my getting the band at such a low BMI. I think if it was as easy as putting your fork down no one would have a high BMI because they would have all stopped at 31-where they are expecting me to have controle. -
do you set of security with your lapband at the airport
jigglebutt1 replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be banded 10/21. At a post op visit my dr's office gave me a "I've got a lapband" card...actually from LapBand. My nurse told me to keep this in my wallet becuae although the detector you walk thru wont be set off if I were to be wanded it could. I got a temp card and she said after the band was in LapBand would send me a laminated one. hmmmmmmm -
Hey there-just bumping this up because I was really curious if you were going ahead w/the band and/or w/dr pinnar. I saw your bmi was 35. mine is 31 so we are both low bmi bandsters as well. i would also love to keep in touch as well :smile2:

Great! The appointment went a totally different way with me (as I mentioned). This appointment went the way my 2nd one did..the actual meeting the dr and all. I am glad you liked them. So, are you decided? Abut both the surgery and the doctor? BTW, what is your BMI?
-
Just checking in to find out how your appointment went. What did you think?
