November 2010 Bandsters - post op
dk4k replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad to see people back here! We do need to stick together. I am pretty satisfied with my overall weight loss since last November. Even though it's hard to get through the weeks when nothing changes at all, the big picture looks good. My band could probably use a teeny fill, but I worry that during my TOM when it always tightens up, that it would then be too tight. I'm self pay so I'm staying at this level for now, until it is really obvious that I need a fill. I had a few major plateaus this year, but am moving in the right direction again. I actually weighed in last week at 199.0, but then TOM came and as always, my weight went back up like 3 pounds!!!! That is frustrating. It typically comes right back off after, but I hate the mind games. After summer vacation (1 month away from home), I started exercising consistently again. I'm doing the October 60-mile Challenge over at the Fitness/Exercise forum, last month I walked 65.6 miles. I know someone who lost all her excess weight without exercise, but it has been necessary to my weight loss. I certainly feel better and more energetic! -

FULL Tummy tuck and breast lift, done one month ago. Progress and pics.
dk4k replied to Twinkles's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm very impressed by your transformation! If you don't mind my asking, how many incisions are on each breast for the lift? My husband was freaked out by my relatively teeny lapband incisions, so I thought I might never be able to go thru with plastic surgery. But the change is so great, I think it might be worth it. -
I am, for the first time in 10 years, under 200 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!! Ten months past my surgery, exercising regularly, and having to restart a few times, I have hit a major milestone. That number alone is a motivation for me to keep going. I tried on an XL top the other day and it was a little loose, so I tried on a Large. It was a bit snug at the hips, but it fit better than the XL! That's also motivation!

Jennifer, it will happen! Your doctor/nutritionist might also be able to tell you if you're eating enough to support your 4x week workout metabolism. Over the summer, I hardly lost any weight but my body seemed to have rearranged itself. My measurements changed quite a bit, then the scale started moving again. I can't figure it out, either!

I'm in again! I'll change my ticker tomorrow after I walk. I lost about 5 pounds in September. I got serious with healthy portions again, and walked a lot.

It was really good to have a goal to work toward! I met my other goal of Onederland, too! 199 yesterday, for the first time in more than 10 years. I will see you in the October thread.

Congrats on the 1 year!!

6 Months Out-How Much Have You Lost?
dk4k replied to DM4077's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different, but I had lost about 50 lbs. by the 6 month mark. But in the last 4 months I've only lost about 10! So you're neither fast nor slow, you're on your own time. The important thing is that those 37 pounds are GONE!!!! -
When's the date of the marathon?
-
I met my goal! Thanks for starting this post, Amanda1982! I really feel like I accomplished something. And I am .7 lb away from Onderland! That is my next goal, and I sure hope I meet it this week.

Congrats on getting back on track, Julia! Don't lose sight of the fact that you're 78.5 lbs healthier already.
-
That is a wonderful surprise! Congratulations on making it there! For me it's slow going, but it's going. I feel better and have more energy than I have in years, so that has to be more important that slowed-down weight loss.
-
That is AMAZING!!!! When I get there, I think I will be dancing in the street!
-
I put on a size Large shirt at TJ Maxx yesterday. I don't know how long it's been since that happened!
-
That is freaking AWESOME, Bill!!! Please do let us know how it goes. I can't wait to paste that "Goal Reached" banner on my signature! Woooo!
-
Maybe I'll try an audio book. I would totally keep walking if I was interested and wanted to know what happened next! Awesome, Kimmypoo! I will see you at the finish line. I'm sorry you got hurt, lizzy! That sure makes it hard to stay motivated, but it sounds like you still are. Keep it up!

What do you want to do when your skinny (or thinner)
dk4k replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I constantly put my hands on my hips now, because feeling those bones just doesn't feel right! I have not felt them since I was 24 or so. The main thing I want to do, that nobody has mentioned yet, is to sit in a seat with my purse beside me, instead of putting it on my lap and hanging on to it for dear life so it doesn't slip off. Right after my surgery last year, I hung out at the mall with a friend who had been through lap-band surgery, and I noticed that she had her big old purse right beside her! I only had room in the chair for me. So I aspire to that. -
At 4 miles a day, you sure can!

I lost about 30 lbs before having to go get new clothes. Some of the pants were pretty baggy by then, but I was waiting for a season change, too. Since then, my butt, hips, and thighs have dwindled, but the waist is practically the same. So my pants are very loose in the legs but still ok in the waist. I was wondering recently where the weight is coming off at (I couldn't tell in the mirror), but I put my hands on my hips when I was walking on the treadmill, and said "Oh!" I felt bones under a much thinner layer of padding than I was used to. Making a short story long...you will start noticing your weight loss in different places. Maybe your face and neck first, then your collarbone area (you will discover you have them!), and then your clothes will start getting looser. It will happen!

Hey look, I've walked a full marathon! Tracking my exercise turns out to be more rewarding right now than my weight loss, because I see improvement every day. Yay! Anyone else still tracking?

Ok, figured it out!

I'm in but still trying to figure out how to add my new ticker to my signature.... Here it is for now. I was off to a great start before I came across this post, so I figured why not join in!

Two of the best reasons to go on this journey!!!
