  1. Happy 53rd Birthday pocono59!

  2. When they put the band on it is put on empty for the first several weeks. Even empty it does restrict how much you can eat. If you are losing weight at your 2 or 3 week check up they say let see how it goes for another 3 weeks and so on.
  3. Thanks for the info. I can eat and drink and keep it down.
  4. I got my band on Nov 29, 2010 and to date have lost 80 pounds. I have not had a fill yet. Two days I got I had an episode with food where I got the feeling of food stuck and I started "slimming" spitting up, food and was really uncomfortable then I really wretched and my stomach has been bothering me since, it's acutually sore as if bruised. Just wondering if possible that the band could have slipped? I am on Nexium so I don't get heartburn, been on it forever, great stuff. Thanks for the info Andy
  5. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary pocono59!

  6. Hi ElfiePoo, I have a question for you if you don't mind. I was banded on Nov 29, so I'm almost 3 weeks in and I'm having trouble with solid food. Just about all solid food, scrambled egss, fish, tuna fish, chicken, etc. I only get 3 bites in and I become uncomfortable and start belching. You mention sliming episodes, can you elaborate on what that is. I am quite frustrated, I didn't think getting banded that I would have to give up solid foods. I've been living on shakes and Soups and I continue to try solid stuff but wind up belching and spitting up and then being very uncomfortable for 30 minutes or so Thanks Pocono59
  7. Hi all, This is my first post here. I was banded on Nov 29th. I'm losing weight which is good, I've lost a total of 35 lbs, but I am having trouble eating solid foods. I don't know if it's normal or is it me. I get 2 or 3 bites in and wham I get hit, uncomfortable in the chest, belching, I feel like the food is like stuck. It last about 30 min then I'm fine, but I'm not getting the 4 ounces, maybe barley 1 ounce. It is getting quite frustrating. It doesn't matter what type of food, fish, tuna fish, chicken, scrambled eggs, eggs over easy etc. I get most soups down fine, any kind of bisque, or broth. Haven't tried a real chunky type of soup. It's been 3 weeks since surgery. So is it me or is this normal?

    Effectiveness of LapBand on men

Thanks for the info and the encouragement. I should be ready for surgery in late October.
  9. First time post here. I'm in the early stages of getting authorized for surgery. Actually attended my first support meeting last night as a prerequisite for surgery. 95% of attendees were Bypass clients, only 3 banded folks. My question is I've been told by my surgeon the banding works better for women than men. Have you found that to be true? Would appreciate hearing from any guys that have been banded to see if it has worked for you. I am hoping to lose 75 pounds. thanks for the info Pocono59
