I never had it bad on my face... The ony thing that really helps the hair for me where I have it (inner thighs) is taking Yasmin. It controls the testosterone.
-
Never thought this would happen, but since I lost weight and am close to goal, my face has changed very drastically. I always has a "thin" face even when I was at 40 BMI, but now at 30 BMI it's very different from I ever remember looking. Even when I weighed this same weight before. I feel in a way I am reluctant to lose more because I don't like my face as much... Anyone feel the same way?

Thanks to all for the replies. I originally posted back in May. After another 10 lbs it's much better

I used those pills 1 day after surgery no problem.

Lap Banders Only Lose 55% Of Their Excess Weight??
lawismylife replied to WendyMay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am part of a WLS family - hubby, MIL and I have the band, FIL had gastric bypass. We all did it within 6 months of each other in 2010. I can tell you that in the beginning the weight will fly off with just limited portion sizes and by adjusting the band. Then you have to figure out to eat better food, and exercise. My MIL lost about 50 lbs but honestly is lazy about it and not tracking what she is eating in any way, and not really exercising. She floats in a pool like once a week. She lost 50 lbs and that is a great result considering the effort she puts in. She not psychologivally willing to adjust the band as tight as she should because she is not ready to let go of eating larger amounts. So anyone looking at her 2 years out will say she is not successful, as she has about 80 lbs excess weight. But she is not putting in effort. My husband is the same way except he has adjusted his band as much as possible and he is not willing to change his eating habits or exercise. He lost 120 lbs and has about 80 to go. I had 95 lbs to lose, have lost 76.5. I watch what I eat 80% of the time. I don't track what I eat, I just make good choices most of the time. I work out 4-6 days a week for 45 min or an hour at a shot. I am very pleased with my weight loss. I know it's not coming back. I can maintain it. I have a metabolic disorder and I feel I am beating it now. My FIL lost 140 lbs with bypass in 6 months, he is at goal. Had horrible complications for life that can't be addressed. Seeing him go through that constantly reaffirms my decision to get the band. So if they say lapband only loses 55% of excess weight, it's not that they can't get to goal, it's usually "won't". People are more in control, which often leads to people doin what they want... -
This Will All Be Worth It Right???
lawismylife replied to casey11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to consider calling your surgeon and asking if you can move on to mushies early if you are hungry. My surgeon told me to call if I was dying and needed food. My mother in law's doc let her have mushies like on day 3. -
OMG you are hysterical! Thx for adding this in!

6 Weeks In And No Success :'(
lawismylife replied to saritin81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel for you. Remember a few things - you will not likely feel restriction for a while even with regular fills. You didn't mention how much fill you put in... Some docs are more aggressive than others. The eating with anxiety thing won't go away though... Even when you have restriction if you choose the wrong foods you can still eat a ton. Ie crackers, chex mix, carbs generally. You can drink calories. I have also worked crazy hours... This stinks but you will have to fold exercise in somehow. Either during a lunch break or 4 am or 12 am. Or find a way to change your work lifestyle to support your health. Might sound extreme, but I left a large law firm to make less money but have normal hours for my kids. Make your weight loss your baby. In the long term you will be happier for it. Good luck you will be as successful as you make it for yourself. -
Can you please call dr back and ask why he thinks over 5 lbs a week in insufficient?!?! Maybe he was looking at someone else's chart or something. It doesn't make sense. If you have clashes like this in the early days when arguably you are losing quickly, I would be concerned for this doc to be your partner in this journey. If your doc says something "off" you have to question him. He is not God. Speak up! It takes 3500 excess calories burned to lose 1 lb. what does he think your base metabolic rate is to lose any more than that ?!?!? What is his rationale? Maybe that is his shtick and he says that to everyone for them to keep up the loss. Who knows? But ask!! You paid a lot for this, ask!!

I have gone from 250 to 175 and I started to rapidly lose boob from 200 lb to 175. I was a 42DD and now i think I am a 36C. I have been so large my whole life I love having it off. The only thing is I keep adjusting my goal lower because only boob is coming off and I need it to come off my stomach!

Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......
lawismylife replied to ♕ajtexas♕'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I vote the weather. And if it's that time of the month and you are a woman (cant tell here) it can be a double whammy. It happens... We can all have bad days like that where you just can't really eat. Hang in there!! -
Thanks to all for food for thought! Really helps. I spoke with hubby and told him he can go Di whatever he wants one night a week and I will put kiddies to bed. We'll see how that goes. I will note that I posted this in the "powder room gone wild" and a man who chooses a monkey avatar is coming in here and telling me I have no class. So draw your own conclusions as to that.

Looz - thanks for your support. I think this would work really well if there were days I put the kids to bed myself, and days he did it, so we can switch off so he wouldn't feel resentful. I guess the point is - why does he not want to work out at all? Don't understand that bit. He has a band and still has 80 lbs to go. Would think he'd understand my desire to work out. I have a metabolic syndrome and can't lose weight without working out. Apparently he can't lose anymore either without working out. He is as tight as he can get with the band. I suppose it is rather unusual that both in the marriage have a lapband. Different dynamic. We discussed and I said that I will put the kids to bed myself twice this week (and I did) and he went off and did whatever he wanted. Maybe he needs the taste of freedom To see how much better it can work out. Thanks again for your response (very genuine there, not sarcastic as above!)

Thanks for being supportive. People come to lapband talk for support, not to be bashed. Thanks!

Hospital Stay Overnight/what Should I Expect?
lawismylife replied to hls50's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband had to stay more than one say because he has high blood pressure/blood sugars. Pain in the butt. Sorry -
Thanks for the great suggestions. I have to leave for work at 7 am and honestly, I used to do early am and felt like I wanted to die. I run a not for profit from home at night (I know I am crazy) and go to sleep way too late. I get home first around 8 pm usually. I think my husband just gets resentful that he feels I dump the kids on him. I just have a really bad commute going home and long hours . I have an old TV but it actually has to be somewhat newer to have the proper attachments in the back. I might need an adapter. In any event I have decided I should just go on you tube on my laptop downstairs and practice Zumba routines for teaching purposes. You are totally right about no crisis at 4 am. I wish I could do it ! Go you!! Hubby is jealous of my success and I think a part of him is scared I will leave him if I get super thin. It's crazy because we are married for over a decade.
-
I actually think its laziness. He also bought me a piece of kitty furniture I wanted for the bathroom to hide the littler box in but it needed to be assembled. I don't know anyone who just buys something and says here's your gift in pieces in the box. I found a handy man 2 yrs later, paid $20, and it was assembled. As women we have a million balls up in the air, and most men have a handful of things to do and they sometimes can't get that right.
-
Well, this is a rant. We have a very happy marriage generally. He controls the finances and we are having a very rough time paying bills. He doesn't support using limited funds on exercise.

My Nutritionist lets patients have coffe one week after surgery. Decaf is better so as not to get dehydrated, but I have between 2-3 cups a day. I need it in the am to "open" up my esophagus.

First Fill, Kind Of A Terrible Experience
lawismylife replied to akurre12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One time I used a different doc for a fill and he did poke and prod and I got a nasty bruise. I think it's a skill they need to develop. I think the tubing is too far inside to get damaged, but maybe others can chime in on that point. -
Pre-Op Diet: It Gets Better??
lawismylife replied to Fat_Librarian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's hard pre op but once you have the surgery you won't have any appetite and will be shocked how you can eat so little for so long and not die. Pre op is terrible because you have a normal stomach and this is very unnatural. -
First Fill Today, Feels Like The Real Beginning
lawismylife replied to scorrea's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are going to be hungry on the shakes - they go right trough the band. Remember, they are liquid. When you eat real food you will start to feel the difference. Enjoy the journey! That first restriction is exciting. -

Two Months Later, Still No Fill
lawismylife replied to MemphisFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The guy is a popular ****** then... Who cares? Ok so you got someone good to cut you open. That's good. You have to know that a properly trained nurse practitioner can give you a fill. It's not a big deal to go elsewhere for fills. Thank god you are only financially tied to him for 3 mo. You got a band to fill it. If you had the self willpower to do it on your own, you would have.... I love the band because it counts the calories for me and I don't have to bother because I am adjusted well. The portions are done for me. Get someone to do your fills that you can have a productive working relationship with. This guys a ****** (that's a medical term you deserve Better. -
Looking to start clothing chain in NY/NJ Area
lawismylife posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The idea is to line up women in varying sizes, and we would all swap clothes amongst ourselves as we shrink. I have 2x sizes, size 22 pants, 2x skirts, size 22-24 shirts from Lane Bryant. I am currently in about a size 18. If there were somone in a 22, I would giv them to her, and someone else would give me 18s. Please reply if you are in the NY Tri-State area and would like to participate.
