  1. Hi all, I am chugging along through my preop diet, hungry but OK except this AM, I was really tired and headachy. I had one piece of WW toast and felt better right away. I agree with those who are nervous about the upcoming surgery. Nice to see more December bandsters! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
  2. Hi all, Andrea~ You are inventive with your shake idea! I bought the Jillian Michael shakes from Walmart. I bought the chocolate and vanilla. They are both pretty good. I am also allowed to have SF jello and pudding, some fruit and peanut butter. The fruit and PB can be added to the shakes but can also be eaten alone. I am trying to exercise daily or so to help get me as strong as possible before surgery, plus I am taking my vitamins daily. I am hungry but OK. I am planning to eat a small meal with my family on Thanksgiving instead of a shake only. What are others who are on the preop diet gonna do on Thanksgiving?
  3. Hello and TGIF!! I had my pre-op appt. today and received my shopping and diet guidelines. The Jillian Michael shake mix at Walmart meets the nutritional requirements for less than half the price of the Bariatric shakes. I also bought sugar free jello and pudding plus V-8 juice. For post op I bought broth, liquid adult tylenol, gas-x, and Centrum chewable adult vitamins. I have had the last soda of my life! My practitioner prescribes oral pain meds and anti nausea skin cream for at home use post op. I am excited and scared all in one! Have a great day, Joan
  4. Hi again, I hope everyone is having a great day as we count down to our band dates! Hi to Shawns, Kathy, Vicky and Andrea! Thanks for sharing! I have been a part of another online (not lap band) diet group for over a year and I have enjoyed and benefitted from my online friends. I think we can really help each other as we start this new chapter in our lives all in the same month! No one can relate to our experiences as well as those going through it at the same time. I have a friend/neighbor who was banded 2 plus years ago and she is a great support, too.:blushing: Joan
  5. :blushing: Hello again, Liz ~ We are both scheduled for the 2nd as well as some others. I would love to chat and share with everyone who is scheduled for December! Let's share a little about ourselves so we can get to "know" each other during our new chapter in life. Maybe our first names, age, surgery date, starting weights, goal weights... Whatever you are comfortable sharing. I'll go first: Name~ Joan Age~ 49 Band Date~ December 2nd! Starting Weight~ 228 Goal Weight~ 150 Favorite Exercise~ walking Occupation~ RN Hobbies~ reading, gardening, walking, movies, camping and travel Joan
  6. Like a couple others, my band surgical date is December 2nd! I go for my pre-op this Friday. I have also been giving myself a bit extra liberty with my foods. I need to stop drinking diet coke by the 20th. I have been a diet coke addict for years but will happily give this up to be a successful bandster! I am only telling a few people but it will be difficult to keep it secret at work since I'll be out for a bit. I agree that the decision is ours and we don't need anyone elses approval!! Best wishes to us all as we start this journey!! Joan

    Anyone out there?!!?

Hello fellow December bandsters! I was thrilled to receive a call from my bariatric center telling me I have been approved by the insurance company to have surgery. My preop is a week from today and surgery is scheduled for December 2nd! I followed 6 months of required visits but hadn't lost wthe required 20# preop so I was surprised they submitted my application and that it was approved. I am looking forward to chatting with the other December bandsters as we travel on this journey together! Joan

    results on sleep study

Hi. I too had a sleep study and now sleep with a cpap. The appointment after the sleep study was a simple one where I learned how to use the machine and then took the machine home. I use a device called a nasal pillow. It is much more comfortable to me than the mask that covers the nose. It took me a bit to get accustomed to sleeping with the cpap but the health improvements are so worth it! Good luck!!!
