I'm starting to hate my band:(

I am so happy to hear you are able to get your shakes and mushies in! From my experience, I think you still need a little unfill but it can wait until later in the week when you won't have to take all your kids with you. Joan

I hope to see ya'll there for another month of goal setting and accountability! Joan

Thanks Vicky!!! Having restriction really changed the way and what I eat. Have you stopped vomiting? Tomorrow is our last weigh in for May. Who is up for a June challenge? Hopefully Vicky will do our stats again! My weigh in tomorrow is going to be awful. I have no restriction or band assist and have gone back to eating like I did pre-band. Yikes! I can hardly wait for my refill on Friday! I am gonna call on Tuesday and see if I can come in before Friday! Two steps forward and one step back... Joan

I'm starting to hate my band:(

I was having the same issue and had to have 2 deflates. I suggest you take tiny sips of liquids whenever you are awake, literally every few minutes take a sip. You can hopefully get enough in this way. Also, have you tried warm drinks? They might help as well as pineapple juice which can help too I was told. Instead of shakes you could try pureed soup that is thin? Hang in there! Joan

Was it the stomach flu, food poisoning on band related? I hope you're all better soon!!! Too funny! I couldn't agree more! Yeah on the 50 pound weight loss! That is awesome!! Joan
  8. Sounds familiar! I think my stuck episodes began with allergies. My band is defalted to about what it was post op. What happened at your appointment? I have taken ibuprofen as needed with my doctor's approval since surgery and haven't had any problems. I hope your fill works great! Joan
  9. Yikes!! My band ended up so tight from allergies, seasonal. Maybe yours did too? All the post nasal drip can plug things up, lol! I was on 3 different allergy meds per day and was still having terrible allergies. I think next spring I'll see if I can get a small deflate before my allergies kick in! Joan
  10. Not everyone has trouble with breads but when a bandster has proper restriction most do avoid breads, tortillas...I can usually eat a small amount of toast. The breads seem to swell and block the pouch. I have had many stuck episodes and they can vary from a pain and pressure feeling that resolves on its own in a few minutes to violently vomiting. I have never had to go to the hospital from being stuck but have vomited 8 or more times until the stuck food is fully cleared. If I am badly stuck, I drink a few sips of Water and I will immediately vomit, which is a relief. . Eating slowly and chewing very well is the greatest help against getting stuck. I got stuck so often because my band was too tight and I then had 2 deflates. At my current band state I don't get stuck at all., but am also not losing any weight while I heal and wait for my next fill. I have handled this all in stride. It is a learning process. I think my experience has been a bit more extreme than others but I am still thankful for my band. This from someone who hadn't vomited since 1988 before my band! LOL Good luck, Joan
  11. So glad you got a deflate! I was too tight and had 2 deflates. I was told the the swelling form vomiting made the band area much tighter and I had to have a deflate to heal. My doctor has someone on call 24/7 for deflates because being too tight is an emergency. I think it was negligent of your doctor's practice to make you wait days for a deflate. You could have ended up dehydrated at best and with a slipped band at worse. I was told when I feel too tight to sip warm beverages or pineapple juice to help clear away any mucous in the band area. My band issue was a result of severe seasonl allergies. Hang in there! Joan
  12. I had a whole banana today, but when I have restriction I have sugar free apple sauce, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup OJ, a couple of strawberries or a small amount of any cut fruit/grapes. I try to have some fruit every day. My fill (refill) is scheduled for June 3rd. Joan
  13. Yeah for you! I weigh less than my hubby now, too and am so happy about that! Looks great, except where are your fruit servings, lol? What a great NSV! How tall are you? I am plugging slowly along. I guess I am basically maintaining/up a bit from my 2 deflates. I don't really feel like I have a band at this time. I miss getting and staying full easily but am thankful to have this time for my stomach to heal from the vomiting I was experiencing. Someone at work today said I was getting skinny! Ha, I said I have lost weight but am far from skinny! I notice the heavy women at work who know I have been banded "checking me out" to see if I look differently! Have a great week, Joan

I understand. Join us again after your first fill. I am in the same boat as you, I have had 2 deflates and am back to having only the restriction from the band that is unfilled, frustrating! Hope to see you with us again!! Joan checking in at 198.4 Up a bit from last week. looking forward to my next re-fill on June 3rd!!

Thanks Vicky!!! What a great heading into a vacation weight loss gift! Have fun!! Joan
  17. Hello, I have a 10cc band and have had one fill so far and am now at 4.5cc. I hardly have any restriction. My next fill is Feb. 4th. How many cc's in your band did it take to reach your "sweet spot"? Thanks, Joan
  18. I am with you on needing to work it more. since my 2 deflates I feel as though I barely have a band. We can do this!! Yeah! So happy for you!! Joan

Hello, Joan checking in~ Well, after my 2 defalates my weight is up. 198.6, up 2.8# form last week. I am back in bandster hell. My next fill is June 3rd. I am thankful I am still below 200#, but I need to be REALLY careful or I won't be for long! I hope everyone is enjoying their day. I just finished painting a couple of flower pots and am gonna plant some flowers now. TTYL, Joan
  20. Hello, From my personal experience you are too tight. I was vomiting daily, called my NP and she had me come right in. I needed 2 separate deflates for a toatl deflate of 3cc. By fluoroscopy she could see my band was too tight. She said the vomiting causes swelling and that banded folks swell inward since the band prevents swelling out. My whole problem was probably initiated to severe seasonal allergies with post nasal drip "plugging" me up. Luckily my band didn't slip and my esophagus didn't dialate. The vomiting and reflux have completely stopped and I am scheduled for a fill on June 3rd. I suggest you call and go in ASAP for a deflate so you can heal. Good luck to you! Joan
  21. I think you are jumping the gun, LOL. Let your body adjust to the 10# drop. To answer your exercise post, I go to the gym 3X aweek for a 30 minute weight/cardio circuit. I also like to walk a few of the other days per week. What # of calories are you eating daily? How is your band at this point, great or too loose? TOM gain, salty foods Fluid retention, constipation? Changing your exercise sounds like a great idea. I have been succesful breaking a plateau in the past by exercising 2X aday, not long workouts just 2 of them. Hi CiCi, I am an RN, too. What kind of unit do you work? Are you one of the night shift workers who don't have much appetite or the type who eats all night to stay awake? I was both types during my years of night shift, LOL. How is your band working at this time? Are you drinking ample Water? I am in a bit of a slump myself, LOL. I had 2cc removed from my band last week and have only very minimal band assistance right now, ie I have to work harder, LOL. I needed my stomach to heal after I was so sick. It seems I was getting stuck so much due to my extreme seasonal allergies causing post nasal drip which kinda plugged up my pouch. The getting stuck/vomiting caused my stomach to swell and since it can't swell out it swelled in and made everything worse. I feel wonderful since the deflate but have a fear of gaining weight. My next fill is June 3rd, hopefully I can maintain until then. Joan
  22. I felt about half ready to go home when I was in the preop area but I stuck with it. My surgery went great including having a hiatal hernia repaired. I left home at 7AM for the hospital and was back home before noon! I had very minimal pain, was driving the next day, walking the neighborhood 3 days later. I am thankful every day for my band. It is normal to second guess important decisions. Think positively and you'll do great! Joan

    Sleeping on your stomach?

I'd say probably 3-4 weeks post op I was able to comfortably sleep on my stomach. Joan

    Infections

My post op instructions said to apply an antibiotic ointment ot the incisions as needed. Are you running a fever? Be sure that your clothes, ie waist band, is not rubbing on the incision as this will only further irritate the area. Good luck! Joan

    Vitamins....

I take a multi vit, One A Day made them and they're called One A Day Essentials and are really small, like an ibuprofen tablet. I buy the store brand of these from Smith's which sells Kroger as their store brand. I also take 1-2 chewable calcium with Vit D daily.
