Lisa, I haven't run into that particular problem, but I can believe it. The band must sound pretty strange to someone hearing about it for the first time. I saw an ad on tv and I was sold. Jess, I guess the storm didn't make it as warned (although we are not out of the woods yet). In Beavercreek we even had a two hour delay for the school and all it did was rain. Firebolt where are you? Not drowning in girl scout cookies I hope

Tylenol is OK. Just avoid the NSAIDS that may cause band erosion. Ask your doc about other meds if you need something stronger. I find that as I've lost weight, I have less pain to medicate!

There is a shoulder pain thread, do a search for it and it may answer some questions. I have the pain too, and my doc said I may have some adhesions on my diaphram (sp?) and he could do another surgery to take a look and clean it up. I decided to live with it.

Unless you go under 110 pounds there is no reason why you couldn't donate blood. Please do!

Try land's end. They have a ton of suits that are pretty and practical!
-
Congrats! That will save you major bucks!

Hi slow losers! I have enjoyed reading your thread. I was banded 11/06 and have only lost 46 pounds so far. Most of that came off the first 6 months and it has been a fight to get the rest off since. I am now starting to add in exercise so maybe I can get up to a pound lost every couple of weeks...I can hope.

It sounds fun! Happy Monday-fresh start day.

How will I know that it will work this time...?

I have a very slow metabolism and I knew the band was the answer for me. I could never sustain a low calorie diet as long as I needed to pre-banding because the hunger would drive me to eat. Now, with my band controlling the hunger, I can sloowly lose. It is not a miracle cure, but it works. -
That can't fit me! Clothing size changes
annieM replied to KarenG.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I'm also a 12/14 and I don't feel small at all. 12 was my goal size and now I have reached it at a higher weight than I thought. Could it be that 12's have gotten larger since that last time we were 12's? I remember fitting into a certain pair of 12's being 20 lbs lighter than I am now. I didn't save those pants to compare though. That was also before babies... Good luck, the 10's are right around the corner... -
I'm at 45 lbs lost and 35 to 50 to go (my goal depends on my mood, I figure I will know it once I get there). Hello to all!

Jess, Good luck with that zumba. What is it like? Back in the day i did jazzercize and that was fun. Does zumba require any extra equipment?
-
Do you need a fill? At 40 pounds lost I too had a long plateau and a fill helped me to lose again. Good luck!

Great idea, go for it!

I am freaking out!! I need advice......

Did they schedule you for another visit? I would think that they would stick you again or give you another fill to see what's going on. There is a thicker solution that they can put into your band to stop a small leak, but it sounds to me as if they were not in the port when they tried to draw the fluid up. I think you should go in again for another fill and see how it goes. -
Don't give up. Do something different to help you regain your focus. Lately I have been doing a food journal and it has really helped me make better choices. Are you getting enough support from your doc? You have undergone a serious lifestyle change and it's normal to backslide a bit. Take smaller steps to your goals (like getting through the day without between meal snacking or adding in a pleasurable activity like a craft to distract yourself from mindless eating, etc). Good luck!

You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

You are on your way! :hurray: Happy losing, and good luck!

Chris, I've had your same worries about getting in enough nutrition. It doesn't sound like you need a fill right now, getting uncomfortable on small amounts of food. The good thing is that you are aware that you need to get it healthful choices, just tiny amounts of them. We won't starve. Have a chewable multivitamin, get your non caloric fluids in, and add in a bit of exercise. You will fine. If you have trouble getting in a decent amount of protein, have a protein drink first thing in the morning when it's hard to eat solids anyway. good luck!

Welcome to bandland! I hope your surgery went well. Be careful to follow your doctor's advise about staying on liquids, then mushies. You need to heal well to avoid problems later. Enjoy your weight loss! I lost a lot on liquids (watched the calories and kept them down, no milkshakes...) and mushies slowed it down a bit. It is so exciting to be on your way at last! Best wishes!

Gastric Bypass people I know eating crow now...
annieM replied to Hip's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My DH had gastric bypass and he can eat a ton, not gain BUT he has osteoporosis and has to watch his vitamin intake very carefully. He is no longer diabetic, which is fantastic, but the malabsorption disease will always be with him. I love my band, I know it is the healthier way to go. -
Hang in there and and watch for NSV's. When you are being 'good' and the scale isn't showing it , just be patient. Add in exercise to speed things up. Be sure to keep yourself hydrated and believe it will work. Good luck!
-
Yes I'd do it again! My weight loss has been very slow, but I couldn't do it without my band. I can 't imagine how difficult it would be to maintain a weight loss either. It is hard work; you have to be ready for that fact. It also requires patience, because sometimes the weeks of being 'good' roll by without a scale victory. Good luck!

I'm at 1000-1200 and losing maybe a pound a week.

I had my surgery 11/06 at Cin wt loss which is now syncrony (sp?) health. Before they changed their name, I didn't feel much support from them. I didn't see the surgeon after my surgery, just nurses. They let me set my own appts. and I wasn't good about going back in. Now I get to see a real doctor and he is terrific with the advice about fills. He will tell me when to come back and knowing that a weigh-in is coming really helps me focus.
