Hi guys. It's been a while since i've posted. ...Just dropping a line to tell you i'm still here.
-
I just thought I'd share a band success. I had to have a small bowel study (they think I have crohns disease) and had to drink an 8 oz glass of barium "shake". All I had to do to do this was to have 1.7 cc's of fluid taken out of my band, then I drank the stuff the next day for my test, and the next day had 1.5 cc's put back in. Woo Hoo for the adjustable band. I never would have been able to drink that awful stuff with my band adjusted well, it is too much and too thick. If I had had the RNY, I'd be out of luck.

I had lasix and it was not a vanity issue. I just added up how much money i'd be spending on glasses... I love not having to wear anything other than weak readers. BTW, it's not ocd to want to look your best. If you can afford it, go for it.

I won't know what the barium test showed for a couple weeks yet, but what they saw on the colonoscopy and biopsy was consistant with crohns. Did they give you a hard time about the band with crohns?

I'm feeling isolated here guys. I'm 48 and a stay at home mom and my three (count 'm , three) friends are very busy people. When I'm bored and lonely I want to eat. Not good for the diet. So how do you extroverts do it? Really I'm clueless, so keep it simple.

What is bunko and how do you play?

I have become anemic too. I have an appointment with a GI doc next month and am supposed to take iron tablets. I'm not all that worried about it, but know that it needs to be checked out.

Sweating and Freezing!

Check your temperature. You may be running a slight fever that causes night sweats. Let your doctor know if you do have one. -
Thank you for all your replies and advice. My kids are teens (twins 16, 17 and nephew 18) and they all drive now. I have two years until they are all in collage and I will have to get a job to keep my sanity. I did a lot of school volunteer stuff when the kids were little but I found the other moms to be very clique-ish and into the queen -bee stuff. I will keep trying. Keep the advice coming!

Hang in there Brigette! The liquid and mushie weeks can really drag. How is everyone coping with the SNOW? We just shoveled the drive and will have to do another pass later today. No snow plows in sight. I can't wait for spring!

I haate the ones that claim big success with weight loss then in tiny letters at the bottom they say "results not typical"

I saw a commercial about the band in September, did the seminars etc in October and was banded in November. (self-pay) No regrets!

Since it's the weekend, go on all liquids until Monday and see how you do. You may still need a slight unfill, but going on all liquids will decrease the swelling so you don't continue throwing up. Good luck!

Penny, what doc is this? If you do jump ship, Synchrony health in northern cincy has been very supportive to me. On the other hand, one airhead in the office won't mean that your whole experience will be bad. What crummy weather we are having this year! The kids are off school again. I wanted to get to the gym again but it is too icy. My weight is stuck again and it will take many hours at the treadmill to get the numbers to change.
-
I had mine vaccinated too. As a microbiologist, I knew way too much about the infections to risk my babies getting them. Especially if they get them at an older age (the risks are worse when people get children's diseases when they are not children anymore).

In search of words of encouragement.... or just a little truth (whatever works).

Yes, patience is key. It may take a while for you to feel restriction; keep going back for fills until you are at your sweet-spot. Even then, the weight loss is slow and steady and won't be that easily seen by others. You can speed up the process by getting to the gym. I didn't tell anyone I had the operation until I lost 40 lbs, and then it wasn't too evident. Good luck! -
I was never told to avoid straws, and I use one every day without problems.

Hi everyone. The snow wasn't so bad here in Beavercreek. We mostly had rain and ice. The kids enjoyed having a day off and a two hour delay today. I enjoyed not having to shovel all the snow. I left what there was for traction. I had another tiny fill and am up to 3.1cc in my 4cc band. The doc has been very supportive (he has a band too!) even though I'm losing so slowly. I had a goal for 2/14 that I won't meet now, but I am determined to get back on the band-wagon. Take care everyone!

Yea, Fairplay is gone! It looks like it will be a great show. I hope yau man wins.

You poor thing! Be sure to get a good lawyer to get proper payment for your wreck. DON'T sign off on any thing until at least a year after your wreck because your injury may get worse before it gets better and the other guy should pay for your PT and pain/suffering. I had a similar crash in my 20's and didn't realize what blowing out a few discs would do for my health! It's the last thing you want to hear but really, take the time to get someone on your side to help you! Good luck with the in-laws and I hope you feel better!

Bummer about the test. You never know though... We had huge storms here in Ohio too and my basement flooded a bit. Congrats on your weight loss!

You could make a tube and then tie/gather the bottom with a piece of string. The width of the tube would be the same as your basket and the height of the tube would measure from the center of the basket, up the side and a few inches to overlap the top and to tie in the center bottom. Be sure to wash the fabric first so it doesn't shrink after you make it. I would recommend a french seam to sew the tube together so the seam doesn't fray. (tiny seam with wrong sides together, then another seam with right sides together to encase the fraying ends in the second seam) I hope this makes sense.

Hi, I've been the same weight for almost a month now. Argg. I know that I have lost inches though because my belt has gone down a notch, but it sure would be nice to see the scale go down! I get another fill on Monday next week, can't wait.
-
Wow Jess, you are really closing in on a big goal!!!Great job!!! I can't wait for my next fill, my weight loss is stalled again. I have a goal to lose another 2 lbs by valentines day and I'm not sure I'll make it. I'm a slow loser and really need to exercise more regularly. sigh. Not that I hate it or anything. I feel really good after a nice workout. It's just a pain to change and get to the club and get all sweaty etc. (whine, whine)

I agree with going on liquids, then mushies. If that doesn't work you may need a tiny un-fill to get to your sweet spot.
