I think that I am getting a hang of this....

Way to keep positive! Some days it does seem those stupid scales get stuck, but just keep doing the right things and it WILL move! -
It was slow going, but I'm there! 198.5 this morning! I started this journey 7/13/10 at 240, had my surgery 7/28/10 and I am so thrilled with my progress! I feel stronger every day. My happiness about my weight this morning made it a snap to snub the breakfast tacos hubby brought home and choose a plum instead. Thank you God!

What a beautiful and inspiring post! Way to go girl! -
You look fantastic!!!!!

Congratulations! What an accomplishment! You are so right about changing your routine! I just read the book "This is why you're fat" by Jackie Warner, great read! I removed sugar from my diet (you would be surprised how much sugar is in every day food!) and changed up my work out. My scale is sliding down faster again!

You and I are just about at the same point! I weighed 240 when I had my surgery on 7/28/10 and I am at 201-202 (depending on the time of day!). I also have had issues with chicken, not as severe as what you have experienced though! I'm sorry you have to go through all that! My biggest challenge is eating out of boredom or eating because it's "time" to eat and not because of hunger. I am making myself be more conscious about what my body actually needs. I love the way everything about me has changed! My attitude, confidence, butt size, shoe size and even ring size! I'm about half way to goal and am looking forward to many more changes!!! You must be feeling the same way (outside of your band issues). The best of luck to you, and please keep us posted!

Getting closer! My goal to get below 200 was for November 1st, but it looks like I will be there a lot sooner! I feel fantastic, better than I have in years! It's been a little rough the past few weeks. I have had to get back to basics and really stop and listen to my body and distinguish the difference between "it's noon so it's time too eat" and "I'm not hungry, so it's not time to eat". Once I did that, the scale started moving again. I did make a bad mistake last night with one of my old habits. I was making dinner for the kids and "tested" the chicken to make sure it was done (I calculated that in the past I was "testing" about 200 calories before I even sat down for dinner). I wasn't even thinking, popped it in my mouth...it was dry...didn't chew very well.....I was in pain for 2 hours with that darned stuck chicken! That hopefully will teach me NOT to "test" anymore!! I am sticking to fish for a while.... My next goal: This may sound weird, but I love taking pictures at my kid's games. I have a great camera & lens and I get some incredible football photos. However, they are all at the same level because I am not able to squat down. Well, technically I probably could, but won't even try for fear of not being able to hoist myself back up! So, my next goal is to be able to get lower so I can get the player's facial expressions and not just helmet & shadows. I owe this all to the strength & love God has given me. I pray every chance I get for it all to continue! Thank you God!!!

My first "stuck" was with dry chicken! I know what you mean by pain!!! Keep up the good work and keep note of the food your new tummy doesn't like!
-
OK, I have been stuck twice and its no fun. Once with dry chicken, the next with bread. For me, its best to stand in front of the sink or potty and breathe and swallow through it. Your body's defence kicks in and makes lots of mucus that helps push the stuck piece out. I believe I have seen this called "sliming". Once its over, its over, that's the good thing. Its gross and its painful, but you will never try & go there again! Keep away from the foods that cause this!

I promise it gets better! In the mean time, try putting some spices in the broth, I used Italian spices and it made it better.

Aren't Chinese people small? Or am I making that up?

And don't forget the evil MSG! -
I paid for mine, too. Look at it as an investment in a future you might not have if you do not lose weight! Congrats and good luck!

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I am in the home health business and I have seen so many family members like you in so much pain for their loved ones. The helpless feelings that you have are devastating and can send you into a spiral that will be very difficult to climb out of. Taking better care of yourself will help you deal with the stress of your mom's health. Not taking the time for yourself is just giving you double stress and it's taking energy away from what you need to do for your mom and your family. Take a deep breath, go back to where you were when you first started to lose weight, and try and get your mind there again. There are all kinds of support groups through hospice agencies that can help you through this painful time. I will pray for you too, but like Shurmeka said, ignore that if you do not want it! Please keep us posted!
