I was banded on 7/28/10 and I can truly say that it has been life changing for me. I was so ashamed of myself, I hid a lot, which meant missing time with my wonderful family. Since the band I have lost 45 pounds and have about 35 to go. I am now part of everything that goes on! I pay more attention to just about everything in my life.....except food! I eat healthy and am never hungry, so that part takes care of itself....though I have had to deal with my emotional eating and blogging on this site has helped! And like imaluckydog, I have made plenty of mistakes, but this time I am learning from those mistakes and not repeating them over & over! Two things you will see any "Bander" say is #1, the band is a tool that will help you but it's not a cure. #2, this is a journey, not a race! I wish you the best of luck, please keep us posted on your success!

It could have been the rice. I can't eat white rice, flour tortillas or bread anymore because I feel sick right after. I think they expand in the tummy!

I would suggest logging everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that you eat on a site like www.myfitnesspal.com to see exactly how many calories your are eating. You can also log your workouts. Ask your doctor what your daily calorie intake should be and make sure it is in line with what you are eating. The best of luck to you!

I got my band on 7/28 and did great until October hit. I went an entire month without losing and thought another fill would do the trick. No loss = more fill = easy answer....not! That isn't the right way for me to approach this anymore and thank goodness I figured it out. I can't rely on my band to lose the weight, I have to combine it with smart choices and habit changes. My advice to you - go back to the basics. Record EVERYTHING you eat, I use www.myfitnesspal.com Ramp up or change your exercise and be very honest with yourself about what & why you are eating. I hope you get back on track! Best of luck!

I have never found a good tasting protein bar myself! If you are just looking for fuel that tastes good, I would suggest Adkins protein shakes. Very low sugar & carbs and very tasty!

Saute 2 cups of spinach in a little bit of olive oil with S&P with one of your meals, let it wilt down so it doesn't seem like you are eating that much spinach if you are not a fan. If you like it, then make a salad with some fresh spinach. I also like Activia light, low sugar & good fiber! Good luck!

Got on the scale this morning and was thrilled when it read 195! I have not weighed this amount since my niece's graduation 7 years ago! It's funny, because I remember weighing myself the day we left to go see her and I cried when I saw I weighed 195...I was so embarrassed and didn't want anyone to see me. Today I am looking forward to seeing everyone, I feel better than I have in many, many years. I think the difference between now and then is; back then the scale kept going up, now it is going the right way. I celebrated my new "low" with a great workout and healthy breakfast. Life is good, thank you God!

I have had those same feelings, and I still battle them from time to time. I make them go away a little deeper each time I try on something I have not worn in years and it fits, or when I look at a picture of me and I like what I see. Like Sandra said, give yourself a pat on the back at how great you have done and keep the positive thoughts and actions going and you WILL get there!!!!!

2 to 3 months will go by faster than you think! It's been almost 4 months since I got my band and it feels like it was just yesterday for me. Now is the time for you to start digging deep into your thoughts and habits and working on ways to change them. They don't have to be drastic, just baby steps towards making healthier choices. Maybe start walking a couple times a week if you don't already. Increase your water intake & decrease sodas and juices. Anything you can do to help aide in your success after surgery will help you a lot. I wish I had done that before surgery, I just kind of dove in & did it! If you can't picture yourself skinny, picture yourself healthy & fit with toned legs, arms & abs! You look pretty young in your picture, you can have a healthy body for the rest of your life! I have lost 45 lbs so far with about 30 more to go. I love the changes I am seeing and feeling (less pain in my knees!). I wish you the best of luck! Please keep us posted on your progress!

October was not a good month for me. A lot of stressfull things happened and I returned to some bad habits with out even realizing it. I only lost 2 pounds, so I scheduled another fill and it snapped me back on track! I need to dig deep and figure out why it was so easy for me to not take better care of myself. Another step in the journey! I am going to try and post a before and now picture...hope it works!

Why haven't i lost any weight yet.......Just inches!
Seanamw commented on sunnydee1976's blog entry in Blog 104988
First, losing inches is good! I would go back (or start) logging your food intake to make sure you are in a good calorie range and up or change your work out. If that doesn't help, definitely call your doctor. -
LAP-BAND® is totally not a cure, you have to be a workable partner in the journey! I was banded in July of this year and it is still just as difficult as before, but it is different and I am learning! I hope you get approved! But if you don't, don't give up looking for help!

The best of luck to you! I had my surgery with True Results in Austin, too!!! You are in for a really special journey! The folks at True Results are the best! Please keep us posted!

It sounds to me like you're not getting enough calories! I plateaued about a month after surgery & according to my calorie counter, I was getting about 800-1000 a day. I added more food to reach 1200 cals & bam...the weight started coming off again! Good luck!

To be... Or not to be... This is my question
Seanamw commented on Mortician's blog entry in Blog 104323
I was OK with the post op diet primarily because I knew I had to (I was afraid of my liver being too big!). But, like every other diet I have ever tried, I eventually would have gone back to my old ways. Getting banded was my last resort. I threw up once, but it was because I ate too big of a bite and didn't chew well. You really have to be concious of what & how you eat. I have gotten food stuck before and had a lot of discomfort, I just keep away from the food that give me a hard time. The best of luck to you!!! -
It's your story, so you choose! You're not lying if you say you are eating less and working out more. I was not comfortable telling people at first, so I didn't. Now I don't care who knows! I get the "oh you're lucky, that's an easy way to lose weight" comments, to which I laugh out loud! 2 of my friends are looking into getting banded because of my story, so to me, it was well worth telling about it to help someone else. Do what's best for you!
