Didn't know there were different sized ports. For those that have had the procedure done do you feel the port, can you see the port and does it become more apparent the more weight you lose? Will Dr Chris automatically put in a small port or is it just standard? I just need to know so I can raise it with the delightful Frederik in email before i go and have my band fitted in September. Thanks guys n gals x

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

I have booked with CDB for surgery on the 21st September and i cannot wait. Can anyone give me advice on how best to forward the deposit money please? Frederik sent their banking details but it looks odd and bears no resemblance to english banking details. Anyone else going to be there on the 21st September? I'm dead excited now. x

  6. I am a 41 year old mum of 2. I weigh about 196lbs and have a bmi of about 32. I am hypothyroid and take thyroxin. My weight has gone up and down by 28lbs regularly over the last few years. I am only 4lbs under my heaviest weight at the moment. I know that the lap band procedure is usually only available for those with a BMI of over 35. With a family history of heart disease and female cancers (my mum is in remission from ovarian cancer) I am anxious that my weight does not get any higher. A gastric balloon is temporary and i know i need the long term option. My mum's diagnosis of ovarian cancer was missed initially cos of her weight. Being hypothyroid and with a history of female cancers in the family I know that I am a prime candidate to develop heart disease and maybe even a cancer. I want to get myself fit and at a healthy weight to try and give myself the best chance of not being another statistic. I need to find a surgeon based somewhere that offers finance for this op too. I live in Yorkshire in the UK. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I don't want to get to a BMI of 35 and above and increase my risks before i before eligible. Having to be morbidly obese before anyone will look at me for this makes no sense to me at all. Thanks x
  7. Thank you. I have been in touch with Dr De Bruyne. I have been give possible dates for September. How did you find the op, recovery, eating post op and beyond, weight loss etc? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks x p.s. I lived in Brissy for 2 years. I got homesick when pregnant with my second baby and so came back to Blighty. Looking at the teeming rain at the mo I have to say I do wonder why I bothered!!!!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

I have heard back from Frederik - he has put forward dates in September for my banding. I now need to make a decision. Anyone else having it done in September? OMG i can't believe i am actually considering this. I told my mum today and she thought it was a good idea so long the doc knows what he is doing and there is some aftercare. That latter point is the one that leaves me the most anxious. Anyone else have/had this concern and if so how have they dealt with it?

How much is Dr CDB charging at the moment? And what is the package you have all had? I have made enquiries with Frederik and I am waiting to hear back. I am thinking of doing this to nip my weight gain in the bud so i don't drop dead from heart disease like other females in my family. Also, my mum's diagnosis of ovarian cancer was delayed by months due to her weight. I don't want to take any chances so I want to get a grip on my weight. 14st may not sound a lot but its all relative and I know 14st is not where I am likely to end up. I have generations of female fatties before me.
