    The Scales of Justice...

I try to weigh the same time and day with the same amount of cloths on once a week. Your Fluid intake and retention varies so much during the day it is impossible to get anything accurate. I think a weekly average is the best for me. it goes up and down so much every day that I am either depressed or think I did good so I can cheat a little. I know that is bad in and of itself but you all know where I'm coming from. forging ahead, 5 days banded... dman
  2. Sounds like BS to me. are the fills included in your base price? or does he bill you or your insurance every time? if so you are just getting hosed. from what I read, most docs fill to 4-6cc the first time and will add more every 2 weeks. you are right if it is not restricting it is not doing anything.

    Banded July 15th!!

Was also banded on the 15th, still have some shoulder pain. Did some research and apparently the CO2 actually damages some of the nerve endings in the diaphragm. The diaphragm does not have pain nerves but shares the same nerves/nerve bundle as the shoulders. The pain of the damaged nerves is referred to the shoulders. It is a healing process of the nerves more than "getting rid" of the CO2 gas. that's what I read anyway and of course EVERYTHING you find on the web is true right? was from some study at a prominent hospital. I should try to find it again. it is a good read. back to work feel "KINDA" ok hate the liquid diet totally sucks. but am on it for 2 full weeks. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH! give me real food!!!!!!!!!!!!

    First Date ??

If he has his crap together at all, he will be understanding and go out of his way to help and accommodate you. He should be impressed that you cared enough about yourself to do such a serious step to lose weight and get fit. If he is not all of the above dump him he is not the one.

    bandster hell!!!

Mine is making me do Clear Liquids for the 1st week, "bodied" no chunks liquid for the 2nd week, I dont get any pureed food till the 3rd week. Is my surgeon "over cautious" or is yours reckless? sure sucks eating Jello and broth. I feel like I could eat a double whopper but I know that is my head hungry talking. Hope I can control it later when I can eat real food. I am 5 days post op, feeing "kinda OK" but back at work at least. dman

    Self-pay panic!!

I also figured if I spent 12k of my hard earned $ I would take the whole thing very seriously lose it and KEEP it off.

    Self-pay panic!!

I'm self pay about 12k but only banded for 4 days so too early to tell if I made the right choice for me yet. But looked at it this way, you can pay me now or you can pay me later. I figure it will cost 10 times that in medical stuff later if I dont take care of it now. I am a poster child for metabolic syndrome and all the other stuff that goes with it. I am 52 and I figure I would be in serious trouble or dead in 10 years, so I paid NOW. no looking back. dman

    bandster hell!!!

Banded on the 15th of July now 3 days, I have been very surprised at the variances in diet that each Doc has. Mine has a program that I am on liquids for 2 weeks before any mushies even then nothing like real food till week 5. I am sick of broth and Jello already and am NOT looking forward to the next month. is this the "hell" part or is it worse trying to get your fill just right? I dropped 20 lbs pre-op and dont want to gain even a lb back. I think I am in for some hungry days. dman
  9. Got banded on Thurs 15th with very similar results as Hal so far. only a gnawing "hungry" feeling that the liquid diet will not satisfy. Probably all in my head at this point but I am not looking forward to the next 2 weeks on liquids. cant wait for my first fill, really want to get on with this deal. Feeling pretty good, gas pains are almost gone, I also can bend over and tie my shoes. did nothing special before, I HATE to exercise and m not looking forward to doing that either but I think as the weight comes off I may be able to get used to it. I will do it. not going through the band thing and go back to the old ways. It's time to pay the piper so to speak. all the years of care free eating have come to an end. I plan to go back to work on Monday, but I sit at a computer most of the time so it will not be a problem for lifting or physical work that could jeopardize my band or stitches. dman
