I was wondering if someone could tell me the symtoms of band slippage. I have a friend who is banded as well and she has been having some problems eating and keeping the food and some liquids down. She has been banded for 10 months and she is filled to where she needs to be. Some days she is fine and then she has some days where she just cannot eat. She is afraid that maybe her band has slipped or twisted. Is there anyone out there who can tell me if what she is going thru is normal or not. Thanks, Kim:confused:

I am not really sure if this is normal. I am having a hard time eating. Not because it won't go down or comes back up (Thank goodness I have not had a problem with that) but because I don't feel hungry and looking at food just makes me want to gag. I was told that I was supposed to eat three meals a day but I have a hard enough time eating one meal a day. Is this normal?? I am worried that I will get sick from not eating. :help:

I do have to admit that until yesterday I have not been taking vitamins. The chewable multi-vitamins were making me sick. My pharmacist recommended that I take the centrum liquid. He said that the reason the mulit-vitamin pills ususally make people sick is because they take so long to break down in the stomach that it can upset most peoples stomach. He said that the liquid is immediatly absorbed into the body. I started taking it yesterday and my stomach did not get upset. The protien shakes make me really sick also. I have not yet found one that is easy on my stomach so I am not drinking those either. My poor stomach just does not know what to do.

Hello, I am one of the ones who has tried and failed at many diets only to gain it back plus some. I was only banded on November 9, 2006 but I have already lost 21 pounds. It is a lifestyle change but not as hard as I thought it would be. I think because the band really helps alot. Hopefully soon I can start some excercising but for now I just walk as much as I can. Trust me if I can do this so can you. It will work for you if you want it to. I have a couple of co-workers who have had this done. Out of the three, one has had complete sucess with it. The other two are loosing but very, very slow but that is because they still choose to stuff themselves with fast food and soda and candy. So it is a combination of the band and your determination to loose the weight. Just reading what you have written I can tell that you will have sucess with this. Good luck and keep us posted. Hello, I was banded on November 9th, 2006. I did alot of research and procrastinated for a long time before deciding to go thru with it. I was, like you, very nervous. I prayed and it really helped me get thru the night before and the surgery. You will be fine and I will keep you in my prayers. Good luck and remember to follow your doctors post op instructions. Kim:clap2: -
I have been reading alot of different stuff in the different catagories on this site and I have seen alot of people who say they have had thier bands removed due to erosion only after one year. Is this a common occurance?? My doctor made it sound like this band would last for a very long time. This makes me kind of nervous. :omg:

Hello, My name is Kim and I was banded on November 9, 2006 in Houston, Texas by Dr. Felix Speigal. My Pre-Op weight was 306.4 pounds and last friday when I weighed I was at 285. 21 pounds in a week and a half. I have been reading some things on here and I was wondering what does restriction mean?? Last friday I went back to the doctor because for the week after my surgery I could not burp and I was having the awful pain in my esaphogus (I know I mispelled that). Last thursday night I was dry heeving all night long and woke up with a fever. They had me come in and do a barium swallow which showed good flow but come to find out the doctor had given me a fill during surgery and between that fill and my swelling from the surgery it was making it too tight. Once they took out that fill I started feeling better. So my question is this how long should I wait before I go in for my first fill. I am not sure how long it takes for the swelling to all go away. I have so many more questions but I will stop for now.

Hoping to be banded in December. Anyone else have PCOS?

Hello, I have not been diagnosed with that but I did want to tell you that I have the same insurance and they are awesome...:clap2: . I do have one suggestion though. It is the end of the year so the approval process is taking longer than normal. Normally it takes about 10 business days to get the approval. I can sometimes be impatient when I really want something so what I did was call the insurance a couple of days after the doctor sent in the paper work. I got my case number and I called everyday to see what the status of the approval was. I was able to get my approval quicker I think because I called everyday. Good luck and I hope that you are able to get the present that you really want for christmas. -
My name is Kim and I was just banded on November 9, 2006. My starting weight was 306.4 pounds. I am now down to 285.0. Today I am actually starting on soft solids. I have really had a hard time since my surgery. The pains I have had have been awful but each day brings a little more relief and I have gotten past the point of questioning why I decided to do this. My doctors name is Dr.Felix Spiegal. He is a very nice doctor and his staff is very nice the only thing that I don't like about him or his office is that although they are there for you when you need them I always feel rushed when I try and talk to someone. I don't like feeling rushed when I have a question about my band. So I am hoping that I will get a better response by joining this online support group. I think my main problem right now is telling if I am hungry or full. How do I know?? :help:
