    January Bandsters???

    My doctor said that the band is made out of silicone,like a breat implant or any surgical implant, which the material has the least amount of rejection from the body. He said it can stay permanently, which I plan on leaving it there, God willing! Mexico was great! The Hotel Lucerna was fantastic! The restaurants in the hotel had the best chicken broth I ever had, home made I think. I loved it! Where is Hidalgo? I am Mexican and my husband is Puerto Rican. Audree

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

    Supergenius: I had broth for brunch (on the way home), broth at home for lunch and dinner. Jello and ice pops for snack. I am full now. The Wolfgang Puck Chicken broth is soooo good. It is high in sodium, but just has a lot more taste. I get to have yogurt on day 4 (Tuesday). I think someone said if you can have the yogurt, you can have Skinny Cow Cheese. I am going to email my nutritionist because Skinny Cow sounds reeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyy good!!!! YUM YUM My body is not hungry, but I just want to have the texture and taste in my mouth, but I am not hungry. I think I am thristy too and need to drink more water, crystal light. My port is a little sore. It feels good when I lean on a squishy pillow. I think I may buy one of those surgical wrap around girdle type things I had with my c section. When I sneeze, it feels weird. I feel like I am getting a headache and don't know why. Someone mentioned due to low calorie intake for days. I am tired and want to sleep. I am going to drink some Gatorade to see if I need the electrolytes. Take care! Audree

    January Bandsters???

    Hey Sheilaamj!!! I had never thought about it either. I was so nervous when they were going to put my IV in and the nurse told me that the veins actually roll away when you are nervous and make it harder to stick. When I relaxed, she got it. I have a really high pain threshold too, but it wasn't the pain, it was the meds for me and the anesthesia. The more they gave me to take away the nausea, the worse it got. I had to pee the meds out and then the dramamine worked wonders. They also gave me a pill that they said was the equivalent to 7 shots of tequilla:rolleyes: and that really relaxed me all right. Especially since I don't drink!! I was relaxed!!!!!:notagree They started to roll me into surgery, the doctor asked me if I was nervous, I said no, they asked me if my mom was nervous, I said yes, we laughed and I was OUT!!! Woke up to being pain free, but nauseous. I felt better after I threw up twice. It wasn't a forceful vomitting, it was like pushed out with gas (weird). Let me know if you have any quetions!!!     I have major advice for those who are not banded. Out of all the 5 of us that had surgery the same day, the one lady who was SUPER NERVOUS all day before her surgery, had the most complications. Nerves really mess with everything. I think it tightened everything up in her body and she was vomitting a lot. I vomitted some when I woke up from surgery but from being sensitive to the meds. The nurses kept on telling me to relax and not be nervous or my body would react badly. Sadly to say for that one lady, I guess her stomach didn't react well even yesterday when we were all discarged, she still was at the hospital!!!Audree

    Welcome!!! You are now a part of us!!! Congrats on your surgery! Mine went better than I thought it could, being major surgery and all! I had a little nausea from the meds after I woke up, but dramamine helped more than the anti nausea meds. Looking forward to hearing from you when you get back! Audree

    Hey guys!!! I am back home and doing really good. I did vomit right after surgery because of sensitivity to anesthesia. They checked me under fluero and thank God all was great. I just feel sore and bloated. I have a lot of pressure in my abdomen I assume is gas. I did check on the computers, but couldn't remember my password!:faint: I am surprised how well I feel. I don't feel hungry. I am having broth, sugar free ice pops, jello, water, kellogg protein water. I can have yogurt on day 4. Thanks for being there for me!!! How are you all doing??? Audree

    January Bandsters???

    I am back from surgery!!! Everything went fine, except for a little vommiting after surgery due to anesthesia. They checked me under fluero and everything was fine. It was vomit with lots of gas. I feel really good. I just have a lot of pressure in my abdomen, I am guessing it is gas. Yesterday I was stilll nauseous, but I am not today. Today I am just feeling a little sore and tired. At least Dr. Ortiz allows yogurt on day 4, protein drinks of day 7 and creamy soups on day 11, mushies on day 21. I don't feel hungry, but I have had broth and kelloggs protein water, water, sugar free ice pops. How are you all doing? How are all the newly banded people doing? Audree

    I am waiting for my mom to pick me up in a few minutes and wanted to check in with yall!!! I am nervous and giving myself a headache! I took some tylenol. I don't know why I am getting so nervous. I will definitely ask for something to calm me down tomorrow when i get there. I was told they have computers there and I will try to post.     January Bandsters???

    Hello everybody. I am nervous as heck!!!!:faint: I am waiting for my mom to pick me up. I am all packed, bought convenience foods for my family so I don't have to cook when I get home, house is clean, bought gauze and paper tape. I will bring back info on the AP band. Dr. Ortiz is supposed to start using them toward the later part of the year. I will ask him lots of questions!!! I can't believe I am giong!!!! I am also bringing some protein water to sip on the way back. DID I MENTION I AM NERVOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Audree

    Day 4 of Pre Op

    I am doing so much better today! Breakfast: Protein shake-250 calories Lunch: Lean Cuisine, 390, corn=120, shredded cheese=50 total=560 Dinner: Lean Cuisine, 280 cal, corn 100, dash of spaghetti sauce 30 cal, some shredded turkey 100 cal. Total= 510+ Total for the day- 1320 Green tea=20 ounces h20=20 ounces I am feeling good mentally. I have energy. I am getting nervous the closer it gets. I weighed in today at 184.5. I started at 190 on day 1 of preop. On ay 2 of pre op I had lost 4 pounds, the ones I gained from the holidays. I guess it must have been water. It is funny what a difference a little weight makes. My thighs are not rubbing together as much. Most of my weight goes straight to my lower body since my tummy tuck and body contouring. This week is going to fly by. I added corn, shredded lean turkey to my meals. I did increase my calorie intake, but it was adding healthy foods. I feel good

    I thought this was interesting advice: "I have ice in my drinks all day long. The only time that I don't is right before I eat. It tends to close you up. It is actually a good trick that I use during the day to make me think I'm "full". Audree

    January Bandsters???

    I got this off bandsters: "Thought I would share that I saw one of those girdle type things today. The purpose for wearing them is to compress the tissue to speed up healing of the incisions and also to help the pain when coughing. The educator told me that coughing can sometimes hurt after band placement and the "girdle" thingy absorbs some of the pressure. It's white and flexible. It just wraps around one's waist and has a big piece of velcro to attach it tightly. Apparently, the doctors that prescribe this for a week or so use it for the above reasons. Just thought I'd add this since folks were talking about them a few days back. " I think I am going to ask for one! FYII: This sucks! I just got the email from Dr. Ortiz's patient care coordinator and she said Dr. Ortiz will start offering the new AP band in the fall! I hope it is not that much better than the one I am getting!!!
