I also told people "about" the lapband surgery and asked what they have heard. Some people thought it was barbaric, so I will not be going to them now and telling them "I" did it. My husband, mom and a couple friends know. I will tell people on an as needed to basis. Audree

What type of bands do they use in Europe? I know here and in Mexico, they only use Inamed brand and won't use anything else.

Everytime I go in is shows people in there, but no talking.

How long can you go until your 1st fill?
BabyGotBack replied to roband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been asking the same question. It varys on everyone. I am the type of person who retains water and I heard if your tissue is swollen, your band is swollen, so I was thinking if that had anything to do with it. I am post op day 8 and love my natural restriction and hope to keep it as long as possible. I am making my 6 week post op fill appointment just in case though. I have also read about people who go through "bandster hell" and are starving and can eat in the first 6 weeks. Audree -
There are no physical limitations, except for 1. You can't exercise to raise heart rate for 3 weeks. Only slow walking 2. No abdominal crunches for 3 months 3. You can't put food in your mouth without chewing it too mush, you can't eat to fast and can't eat too much If you just got banded, I don't think you'd be able to go sledding this month though. Audree

Man, I was soooooooooooooooooooooo freaked when I saw my before pics! It made me GLAD I got my band. I have really gained in the last 2 months before my band and didn't know what I looked like. What are we all using on our scars???? I bought something called Scar Zone. Anyone else using it? Audree

Yeah, the night before surgury I was panicking about my kids not knowing and something happened to me, but I was just torturing myself. :faint:

Oh yeah, if we can believe God brought us to it so He will get us through it, that is what kept me from going crazy pre op!!!! I have not told anyone and don't plan on unless I feel they would benefit in some way. My mom, husband and friend are all. Not even my kids know and I do not plan on ever telling them. They think mommy has the stomach flu and gas pains!!!:faint: Take care and I will be praying for all the January bandsters!!! Keep us posted!!!Audree

My heating pad helped a lot and liquid tylenol in am and pm if I wanted to sleep and couldn't because of the pain (which I didn't end up needing but had just in case). Also I massaged my stomach as best I could to help the gas through my intestines and passing it. Also, chamomile, mint, peppermint tea Hope this helps! Audree

Mine is just the standard on, not the bigger VG band. Audree

I have never heard of them switching over the stomach to anything!!! The band is supposed to be a bracelet type thing. No cutting or re-routing. My doctor has done over 4000 and he mentioned nothing like that. That sounds like something else combined with a lapband. Don't worry all of us are "neurotic" at one time or another with our yo yo banding. I was obsessed with it, it was all I'd think about day and night. i am post op 8 days and feell so FREE. I have never ever felt like this. I feel like I was a slave and now I am free!!! I am worried about you and if the doctor you are seeing is mixing lapband with DS which I have not heard of anyone doing. Please ask him more specifically what his procedure is and let us know!! Thanks and welcome!!!! Audree:welcome:

Just got back from the hospital
BabyGotBack replied to Sivan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actully had the dry heaves and vomitted twice after surgery in the hospital. They checked me under fluero and all was well. It passes. We all react different to all the meds they give us, anesthesia and also another woman was vomitting for 2 days because of the meds she was presently on made her sensitive. The gas for me got better after 3 days. Now I feel so good!!!! I am 8 days post op. One thing that helped me were the fruity ice pops. Audree -
They have to move a lot around to get in there. If you watched the video of the operation, you'd know why. It will get better!!! A heating pad feels great too! Audree

rms78645 OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still have it 7 days post op. I can only have a cup of coffee in the morning. Lunch and dinner, I get full of 1 cup of liquid and can not physcally eat anymore. I feel full up to my throat. How do you feel?
-
The band feels even tighter when you don't drink water. For me, I mistook thirst pangs for hunger pangs. It helped me feel full.

I went to Albertson's and found a soup mix in a bad type of thing. It was all the seasoning, chicken broth powder, powdered veggies, etc. You are really supposed to add the chicken and tortilla strips, but I just added it to the water and boiled. I added a little shredded cheese. IT WAS THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: It had little pieces of veggies, so I pureed it in my little food processor. I can't tell you how good it was. I am going to be on the lookout for some others, but if all I had was that, I'd be in Heaven for the next 2 weeks, it was that good!!!! Audree

Me too!!! I can't get anything more than a coffee with soymilk for Protein in the morning due to being EXTREMELY tight! If I am not home and busy, I don't even think about eating. That has never happened to me. I used to always be thinking what I was going to eat. Like tonight, we went to a birthday party, I would have been thining where we were going to go out to eat, etc. But, I didn't. I only thought about getting home to my little yogurt I eat in the evening.

Thanks for all your encouragement! I am glad you are here too!!! Yeah, I am pretty surprised my incisions are all healed completely. The liquid bandage (surgical crazy glue) is actually gone on two of them and they are totally healed up, only a little red. If you need my email to request me as a friend it is Audree_Vasallo@hotmail.com (there is an underscore between my first and last name, but you just can't see it) Talk to you soon!!!!Audree:biggrin1:

Welcome all the new January bandsters!!!! Wow, we keep rolling in!!!! The gas will get better. The first 3 days were my hardest. Don't forget to drink your water or you will feel real out of it and it made me have hunger pangs! Audree

I am newly banded, 1 week post op and I was just wondering if what I am feeling in restriction is comparable to the "sweet spot"? Thanks!!!!:clap2: Audree

I am feeling really good. I am very restricted. Would you compare your restriction to when you were first operated? -
